  1. My lovable shrimp...Thor amboinensis.
  2. Yep..the anemone shrimps are a pair...if not a pair they won't stay together...if both males will end up fighting anyway...
  3. Hi all....I would like to ask if a 58W E ballast can drive a 54 watts T5 tube... Will the tube explode?
  4. The first fish looks like a baby. The second one is so cute! Looks like a fox? As for the giant blenny...I don't think it eats algae.
  5. It has...... just that after the tank is more than 3 months old...hardly any stuff comes out of the skimmer. Is this common phenomenon?
  6. Oh yes...abit Anyone who likes freshwater cichlids? There is a breeding population of South American Eartheaters in Macritchie Reservoir. Best to go at night...can catch them by the banks.
  7. Hai...by rights they should cut the red-tape over those species that have no ability to populate our local ecosystems. And restrict the species that are adaptable and prolific. I once emailed them on the import of TEMPERATE species...they replied saying that it would be dangerous if they entered our ecosystems. Now...how would that be possible? Could they even survive past a day? Wow zephyros..nice information... Tetrodotoxin...same as the one found in puffer fish? No wonder no antivenom.
  8. The fungia should be placed on the sand bed? I think it would prefer a sandy substrate more..rather than being placed on a rock.
  9. Thanks. I thought most people will freak out when I told them I am using normal FL lighting. Anyway...aqua_reef>>>Those button polyps bought from Re**rn. Only $5. That's only half the colony...I broke off the other half and placed it somewhere else. Anyway...now saving up to DIY my T5s. Then can keep clams. Btw...does anyone know if coralline algae in the skimmer column actually interferes with skimming efficiency? My skimmer is'nt really skimming anything out now....it used to skim out alot of stuff during the first 3 months of my tank...but now the skimmate always turns out watery.
  10. Ah? I dun observe chiobu in nus....i observe them outside school. I find chiobus in nus to be a stuck up bunch. Not even worth my glances.
  11. Hmmm...how come the majority all like big big fish?
  12. I'm science fac yr 3. Put my email down already.

Just like wad one of my lecturers told my class.... Caucasians can talk very well and very convincing about nothing at all.
  14. Applies to the bigger ones. Divers term them 'thumb splitters'
  15. You might be able to keep them with 3 T5s...just make sure the clam is as close to the bulbs as possible...or put the clam on the sandbed whereby 2 T5s are shining on it?
  16. My black sea cucumber shedding its coat.
  17. Get another 40 watts then. Unless you dun mind your clam dying on you after 4-5 months? Clams can live for many YEARS.
  18. Hope I don't sound too antangonistic. But it's the fact. Even doctors think the same.
  19. Blue ring octopus wun sting thru the holes in the container..their suckers are harmless. It is the mouthpart a.k.a the beak you have to beware of. Anyway....$35 for a blue ring octopus? I saw somewhere selling for $10. At least that aquarium boss was responsible enough not to sell it to newbies. But....$35?!?!!?!? Sold by an irresponsible aquarium owner!?!?! That really pisses me too...imagine you pay $25 more and end up dead. I think if that happened to me I would haunt the guy for the rest of his life. Tanzy>> I agree with you...but the problem with A*A is that they spend their resources doing the most futile things when they can focus their efforts on the big picture. If you ask me...I would say they are banning many many harmless animals...while they are turning a blind eye to many other harmful animals besides the blue ring octopus. Take the common terrapins in petshops for instance..not banned till now...see how many are in the ecosystems here now...decimating the fragile aquatic life. Sometimes I really wonder if they know anything at all.
  20. 15 inch sounds ok to me...you should go for a total wattage of >4 watts per gallon.
  21. I suppose your clownfish was not hosting the bubble previously? The sweeping tentacles of the bubble coral can become very extended during the night. Might have stung your clownfish severely before your clown could host the bubble?
