  1. HuH? If never rinse and just put it in I think your tank water will be brown in no time... I don't like the thought of brown looking water..whether harmful or not..to me clean water is clear water..
  2. Oh yes..since you like puffers so much...When I was back in secondary sch...one day I went to east coast..the breakwater zone...I used those BIG handnets attached to poles..scraped along the edge of the breakwater..caught LOTS of pufferfish...not the normal ones that you commonly see...but rather unique...The whole body grey....with a BRIGHT yellow tail... Caught about 20-30 of them...dunno why they so stupid all stay together... But in the end released most of them..brought 5-6 home...My marine hobby started from there..
  3. Just to add...you can catch nicer scats at East Coast beach...Those kind that are brilliant yellow with black spots...with a red 'cap'...during their teenage years.. When they are juveniles they will shoal..which makes them quite easy to catch with a hand net...Just stand in the sea and look out for small swimming black 'leaves'...when they grow up their colours will improve...but upon reaching adult stage..the color becomes dull again...

    CA REACTOR

Get bright lights...add some clams or sps...and measure the calcium levels from time to time.....if the levels can be maintained...means ur Ca reactor works...
  5. Reduce phosphates by resins...Or by reducing feeding and increasing water changes....increase water circulation......Reduce photoperiod...
  6. Zooanthids are not hard corals as they lack a calcium carbonate skeleton..Gonioporas are hard corals.. Btw...I've got a Light yellow fluorescent goniopora...been with me for about 6 months already...Hope it will last for another 6 months...
  7. Yea...heard from some ppl that Marc weiss is just plain snake oil. They don't even state down the individual contents...Just lots of big big words..
  8. The brown muck looks like oxidised iron in clay? Thank goodness I washed it before putting it into my canister...Imagine what could have happened if I did'nt wash it...
  9. 50% water change a week won't help much... Tried and tested by me..for it to take effect you might have to go 50% water change 3-4 times a week for dunno how many weeks.....Not really economically sensible.. If I were you...I would rather add a floating container in your tank with some macroalgae to absorb the nutrients...make sure the algae is directly under the light..if not they might just die and release more nutrients into your water..
  10. The girl creeps me out...how can she possibly turn you on?
  11. Could it be a garden eel instead?
  12. Only some species will associate with the carpet anemones... Different anemones are associated with their own set of clownfish in the wild. For example, clark's anemonefish with the bubble tip anemone... For carpet anemones, maroon clownfish are one of their natural housekeepers.
  13. Check out my jewel goniopora...longest polyp is about 16cm long.
  14. Softies do need current too...Especially if you consider the amount of mucus they produce...you will need current to aid 'shedding'.
  15. AHhaha...evil clownfish...why not use something more unique? Like the totally black and white morph percula?
  16. Can consider skunk clown...or tomato clown...
  17. Individual nicks will surely increase the cost of the whole t-shirt production.....
  18. Reminds me of the bone collector...
  19. Ever heard of the 3rd dimension? It might have found the blackhole in your tank.
  20. Dun use nemo la...too high profile already...if we use nemo imagine how many more clownfish will be plucked from the oceans....
  21. There is no real need for valve B...as long as your return pump is not overpowered...the whole siphon effect will be maintained in the U turn section...and water will simply flow down the T joint and into the sump by gravity. Self Regulatory... IMO it would be easier to leave valve B out..and have a total opening instead. The water level at the T joint will always be the same water level as your main tank. However...if your pump is indeed overpowered...naturally the open end of the T joint will overflow.
