2 inch would still be a male. You should try pairing up by getting another maroon about 1/4 to 1/5th the size of ur bigger maroon. Don't just introduce them like that. Keep the small male in a clear container in the tank and let the bigger one get used to it for a few days. Then let the male out and hope for the best. If fighting still occurs then isolate the male from the bigger fish for a few more days and hope for the best.

I have just gotten my sump today...2 ft X 1.5ft X 1ft. I am putting it below my 4 footer on my metal stand. Just wondering..can the lower rack actually support the weight of the sump tank? I think I am paranoid or something but the lower rack seems to be welded to the 4 main supports only. I'm not putting the sump in the middle but towards one end of the rack. Will this uneven distribution of weight have any adverse effects? Someone pls help ease my paranoia..

My mushies used to open up nicely under my old NEC normal white FL tubes..but now under 162 watts of T5..they seem to shrink...are they getting used to the lights? Been about 2 weeks or so since my T5s have been up and they are still not opening to their full glory. Could they have been burnt by the increase in brightness? Tried moving them to the sandbed..but no difference..my zoanthids like the lights though.

Some pistol shrimp do indeed consume fish and other crustaceans by attacking them with the sound waves they produce. Saw it on a documentary once...think it is 'Weird Nature' on animal planet. Saw a pistol shrimp knock a cleaner shrimp unconcious and pull it into its burrow to be consumed. It was the same size as the cs somemore. I think whether or not a pistol shrimp will prey on your fish or inverts depends on the species and how hungry they are. I've got a thumb sized sri lankan tiger pistol..has never attacked my pipefish or gobies yet..not even my anemone shrimps. I guess you will have to find out what species of pistol shrimp you have before you can conclude whether they are a threat or not.

3 firegobies? You can try..if you succeed you can tell me. I have tried. Ended up with 1 only. The sole survivor. MURDERER! As for mixing different species of gobies..just make sure each goby gets their own deserved space.

Vaccinations for flu are really useless IMO....Influenza got 3 types..A,B and C. And they consistently change their surface antigen makeup (Haemagluttinin and Neuraminidase) by antigenic drift and antigenic shift. Which explains why total immunity is not conferred to Influenza although one has been previously infected. Best way out is to maintain a healthy immune system.

My tank is a goby tank. Got yellow watchman, fire goby, purple decora goby, black striped high fin goby, yellow coral goby. Yellow watchman got a sri lankan tiger pistol shrimp..high fin goby got a red and yellow banded pistol shrimp. teamates include one black-headed jawfish..and 2 sri lankan dragonets and bigbig YT.

I would replace ur actinic with another white. Actinics are useless for clams...only making them look delicious..but that's about it...Actinics should be viewed as supplementary lamps...not primary lighting.
