Looks man-made to me. You can't even see any water dripping from the fish. If the fish was that dry, its skin would be wrinkled already.

Not enough algae for it to eat lah...maybe u gif it some nori at it's territory then it might grow faster...to the size of the one in Henry's show tank!

Look alot like purple queen anthias...but then again I might be wrong..I'm not an anthias expert.

Ok peeps..pls be patient with me..rather busy with school these few days..still have not gone out to buy the small plastic containers. On second thoughts maybe meet at bedok mrt would be easier...don't think everyone would be keen to meet at an LFS. Those who are keen could stay and talk then we could go together later. I have no fear of my siphon breaking..my tank wun overflow..it has around 10cm of extra margin from the top to collect any 'extra' water. Only worry is having a burnt out return pump.

Might be either for camouflage or depending on their mood (Just like chameleons). Might be a form of body language to other horses too.

Rubberband dun tie too tight..fold twice n tie can liao. If no hand road use chopstick. But in my case i use tweezers to ease off the rubber band and the plastic bag.

Erm...the last time I did that was 2 weeks back. I do notice if I dun do so after some time the flow seems to slow down. Not sure whether due to microbubbles forming bubbles in the U-tube or whether due to debri.

Eh...my siphon tube not transparent. But easy for my case. Just submerge the whole U-tube in a tub of water... use small plastic bags and rubber bands to tie the ends UNDERWATER to remove all traces of air bubbles. put the siphon back into your I-box before removing the rubberbands and the plastic bags...it's that simple.

w0w...maybe can try to d.i.y an autofeeder that can feed mysis? Can't imagine the time taken to feed so many horses..

Seems true in my setup...pink coralline algae seems to prefer growing in my I-box rather than in my main tank. Think I wun be able to see thru my I-box soon if this continues.... My I-box does'nt get much light at all and yet the coralline growth is insane.

Lysmata amboinensis (common skunk or cleaner shrimp) works better. I find the blood shrimp too shy compared to the former. They have the tendency to hide most of the time

ENJOY! 3 types of plankton exist : Zooplankton, Phytoplankton, Bacterioplankton (minute bacteria and cyanobacteria! ) Classification of plankton Smallest plankton are femtoplankton (0.02 to 0.2 µm) Largest plankton are called megaplankton (above 20cm! ) Alot of other classification in between.. Phytoplankton Large phytoplankton consists of : diatoms and dinoflagellates Smaller phytoplankton consists of : Haptophytes and Cyanobacteria Newly discovered phytoplankton : Prochlorophytes (estimated to contribute up to 1/3 to 1/2 of total ocean productivity) Zooplankton Crustaceans incld. copepods make up 60-70% of all zooplankton. THE MOST IMPORTANT GROUP OF GRAZERS IS THE COPEPODS AND THEY ACCOUNT FOR 70-90% OF THE HERBIVORE BIOMASS Most larvae start as phyto-grazers and might become carnivorous or omnivorous later. Makes sense..considering sps corals are in the phyla cnidaria If I din remember wrongly from my lectures all cnidarians possess nematocysts. Surely used for prey capture. Think of it, sps like the acros are found in such pristine waters that have very low levels of nitrates (or even none at all)...they would have to obtain nitrogen for protein synthesis somehow. I don't think they are nitrogen fixing to obtain dissolved nitrogen gas in the water. Their main source of nitrogen would come from prey like zooplankton in the form of protein. Which explains why sps can be seen extending their polyps during the night..to capture the zooplankton upwelling that occurs during the night. Come to think of it..came across an article before..but forgot the address..was mentioning that since most sps reefers might have trouble sustaining a healthy zooplankton population in their tank due to inadequate feeding etc, a little nitrate in the water might be able to supply the coral with the necessary nitrogen for protein synthesis. A point to ponder about...
