  1. Rics expand bigger to capture more light if the lighting intensity is lowered. You can cut down on intensity if you prefer your rics to expand bigger.
  2. I agree...most of the environmental problems are caused by us...we are too intelligent for the well-being of the earth.

  4. I live more than 20 storeys up..thank goodness my tank was not the size of those belonging to the AT, morgan, Joe_P, etc....if not...i think I would still be busy mopping the floor now.
  5. Major project to build a few thousand HP chiller.
  6. I was busy rearranging the macroalgae in my tank. Then when i took my hand out, was wondering how come the water was swishing about so much when I was moving my hand only gently. It was then that I found out was an earthquake tremor. Aquariums are good earthquake indicators!
  7. Felt dizzy, saw my ceiling fan moving, look at my aquarium and saw the water swishing slightly up and down the sides of the glass! Even my macroalgae was swishing about in the tank. Talk about natural wavemaker!
  8. green ones are most likely algae eaters. Maybe the blue tang liked the 'concentrated algae biscuit'
  9. Just wondering, would this help to lengthen the working life of such tubes if we were to use them to overdrive tubes?
  10. erm..use bottle trap. Do a search in the forum..it has been mentioned before. Use the magnifying glass icon.
  11. here is mine. Bought it when it was only a 2cm bugger being bullied by other fish at pasir ris farms.
  12. mangroves you will have to use light around 6500K spectrum as they are land plants. The spectrum we use for marine does make them grow, but 6500K will make them grow faster.
  13. hairy crabs might pick on sps tissue.
  14. depends on alot of factors 1)temperament of individual tangs (everyone is different) 2)size of your tank (bigger can avoid territory disputes) 3)aquascaping and current (competition for preferred grazing grounds) etc...
  15. Hmm..mine cleared after I reduced my bioload and feeding. Did more frequent waterchange also. Reduced lighting hours will help too
  16. ah ok..maybe also due to the water conditions or lighting they were kept under.
  17. Hmmm...I thought as they grow older their colors fade? My teenage one is very colorful already. Saw some adults before, color like was paler compared to smaller specimens. Or are they diff species?
  18. hmmm..ya..but wun it get reflected back down? My current reflector allows light to be reflected onto the wall at the back..that's why thinking of one whereby the light would be concentrated in the tank...which is actually only 1.5 ft wide. Don't want much of the lighting to go to waste
  19. Thought of this design for my reflector. I'm not sure on the bend angles though. Anyone can advise? It would be 120cm long. waterproof end caps will be mounted on it via pvc cable casing.
  20. buy needle syringes from pharmacy. Those work better.
  21. Wish I had the time to do so...think have to wait for the time being..alot of unforseen circumstances.
