  1. These snails look local. Think I seen these somewhere...check the chew jawa guide book. Think I've seen some with almost the same colouration.
  2. He took the picture with flash. That's how.
  3. Use a control valve after the output of your pump with a tee-off, or change to a smaller pump.
  4. No point..wattage is a poor measurement of the amount of lighting you require. You need to factor in other things like PAR and efficiency. For example, 150 watts of metal halide will definitely be more intense than 150 watts of fluorescent tubes simply cause MH has a higher PAR. One should not save on lights, nor any other marine equipment. Future upgrades will end up more costly.
  5. On the sand. You'll damage the tissues no matter how you place them on the rockwork, even if they don't topple. Repeated expansion and contraction of tissue will lead to abrasions especially if they are next to rocks.
  6. Sigh why could'nt Aquarama be in June if not I'll be able to help out. Maybe the next one. Have fun guys...oh yes..stock up on frozen cyclopeeze before the same thing happens during the last aquarama whereby some selfish jerk reserved all the frozen cyclopeeze. Maybe the SRC booth should set some aside specially for members? Spirulina powder is a good buy too, especially to mix with your home made fish food. Just a suggestion.
  7. Hmm..I don't think tapwater is so alkaline in Sg is it? I think it's more on the neutral side?
  8. Check out the pair from bro jewel. From me to bro hmkui..then to jewel..Very hardy pair. I chose them such that both of them have close to 100% identical patterns. Alot of black too on contrasting bright orange. Tsktsk.
  9. No alveopora I know of are pink. Your's should be an encrusting goniopora. These come from nutrient laden waters in the wild, which suggest some form of external nutrient uptake to do well.
  10. Long term use of baking powder can lead to water imbalances like magnesium deficiency. Suggest you perform regular water changes till everything returns to normal.
  11. I want a group of coelacanths..I will auction them off slowly and then I can buy whatever fish I want after that...probably won't need to work for the rest of my life.
  12. hmmm..a good size to start off with without upgrading would be 4ft. Lots of people letting go 4 feet systems in Pasar Malam section now..worth taking a look.
  13. Eh so easy? I tried renaming it in windows explorer then got so frustrated...I used good old ms dos commands. In ms dos go to the directory it is located. Then type : rename neukolizer.doc neukolizer.wmv
  14. Hmmm..could those clowns be the ones I chose at CF? If so it's glad to see they have been in such good care. Good luck for your sales..your tank has changed so much since the last time I saw it. Almost cannot recognise...
  15. Possibly pH. Get it down to 8.2. Ammonia exists more in toxic form (unionised) at higher pH. Check your kH. Ideally should be above 8 to prevent pH swings.
  16. Cleaner wrasses won't cure whitespot. They will just be another host for whitespot to poliferate on. Garlic works well..there has been recent talks on ginger too..search the net.
  17. Hmmm...judging an aquarium on just how it looks like in a few days is a joke. I still vaguely remember the last aquarama I attended. I saw tanks with dyed parrotfish, reef tanks with fish being overcrowded that they look they just burst out from a sardine can, and seahorses in reef tanks. I just hope it improves this year by sensible stocking for education..not just for the WOW factor. Many newbies perceive what they see during the event as being the right thing to do. Imagine someone just starting out sees seahorses swimming in tanks with tangs and corals and sets up a tank that way only finding out too late that it was not appropriate. Such incidents could have been avoided.
  18. I'm 15..old enough. Don't worry I've seen worse.
  19. Hmm..the goby looks well taken care of. And nice choice of fish. Avoid big fishes like tangs if not you'll see your firegobies hiding most of the time. Your clowns look cute . A pair similar to yours costs aus $70 here.
  20. Hmmm..what's this post getting at? Seldom see people using apostrophes for plurals..
  21. Blood shrimp are the more sensitive of shrimps. Many people face problems with this species compared to others. Even ###### shrimps seem to acclimatize better than blood shrimps. It is possible this species stress more easily compared to others during the transport back to aquarist tanks. Maybe its some other factors like the need for higher dissolved oxygen levels? Don't think anyone really knows the reason.
  22. I've never had a problem acclimatizing shrimp in less than 30 minutes. Most likely my salinity in the past was similar to that of the farms. You should realize that salinities of the water in most farms are on the low end. If you should want to save time on future acclimatization, it would be good not to let your salinity climb too high as the larger the difference will lead to more time spent on acclimatization. In my experience a marine crustacean tolerates being transferred into lower salinity better compared to being transferred into higher salinity.
  23. Wow more than sufficient even for sps. Does'nt the lights boil your water?
