Any latest news in Sg? Saw the latest news where an Indian family in Sg dared to speak out against the death penalty as one of their family members was hanged for smuggling just 1 kg of cannabis, which is actually nothing that serious compared to murder. Just hope they don't get arrested for internal security reasons...that would be lameness. Sg was stated as having one of the highest execution rates in the world..something we should really be proud of?

Erm..look a little like H. elegans.. I was told H. picta does not have a single tinge of blue? >$50 for an adult emerald crab is worth it to me, considering the rate at which little ones grow.
-
http://www.seahorse.org/library/articles/SeahorseFoods.php And also an attached article on the culture of H. kuda. Alot of scary reading but at least it gives you an idea on what type of enrichment is better and the timing you should switch to different food items. Probably can be extended to other species like H. reidi. seahorse.pdf

High on the list are the adult emerald crabs. Willing to pay around $50 or more per crab. Cheers~

Wow looks like foam formed in a bubble bath.

Looking for the following: 1 pair of adult H. picta (Harlequin shrimp) not H. elegans. Any 2 adult peppermint shrimps (L. wurdemanni) 1 pair of adult emerald crabs. I'm alright with slightly higher prices but pls don't state overly exorbitant prices. Cheers~

Thanks guys. I only had one liverock and some fish in the sump but I don't think any settlement cue was needed for debelius. Published papers on L. debelius say they will settle at 75 days and above. A research fellow before me got them to settle at 57 days (raised in tank) while the earliest I got was 61 days (raised in upwelling). Settlement duration might be genetically and nutritionally linked. I reared them together with L. amboinensis larvae 5-6X their size without any visible cannibalism observed..only the blood shrimps settled though. The thing for L. amboinensis is that they can grow into giant larvae and just start dying. Probably some early nutritional stress. By mass they were probably 5-6X the size of the largest L. debelius larvae. The only reason I could think of on why the blood shrimps settled was initial diet. I fed them Tetraselmis chuii on the day of hatching, but not for L. amboinensis. Diet later included shrimp, prawns, mussels, crab eggs and adult Artemia. Oh well, guess will have to figure that out next semester.

Coming back soon..in Dec. You can try pairing boxers if you got the time. The female's carapace is usually around 1.5X wider than the males and generally have a larger build. Easier to identify a female if it has eggs.

can i use distilled water for a small tank
FuEl replied to ailing's topic in New to the Marine Aquaria Hobby
Yes you can. You won't be tied down with diatom blooms if you use distilled water as they don't contain the silicates needed by diatoms. Just make sure that future top ups or water changes utilize distilled water as well if not it defeats the purpose of using it in the first place. -

Nah..chillers for a softy tank is a waste of $ IMO. As long as temperatures are kept around 28 degrees and below it should be fine.
-
Leather corals and mushies are the easier softies to keep at that temperature range. Xenia tend to crash sooner or later at such temperatures, and they are more demanding in terms of water parameters. FL is enough for softies, at least you can be assured they won't bleach that easily under them. Just have some blue spectrum in your lights if not your softies will all look brown sooner or later. http://www.sgreefclub.com/forum/index.php?...15&hl=nano&st=0 That's my first tank running on 4 FL tubes. Ok for softies IMO.

Haha...cool..guess they fed the snake well. A python like that won't kill unless it is hungry. Anyway those animals on the site should have had CITES permits if not the site would probably have been shut down by now. Who wants to go Bali visit the reptile breeding farms?

New story.. http://theage.com.au/news/national/singapo...2421697933.html

Feed them with enriched brine shrimp if they are hiding. At least the food will reach them somehow. Anthias lose condition very fast if they starve, even for a few days.
-
Sounds like a great idea since gobies and shrimps have relatively low bioload. Just make sure you have no hitch-hikers in your liverock which may pose a danger in future.

Look on the bright side that Chee is siding with Nguyen. In future if in the unfortunate event if someone plants drugs into your luggage without your knowledge, you won't be hanged. Don't you guys get nervous entering Sg customs everytime? Imagine you were found with drugs and you had no idea where they came from, hangman. Instead of being a deterrent, the death penalty may very well result in an increase in unknowing victims who had been planted with drugs.
-
Ooo..whole lot of opinions..you guys never know how Aussies are against the hanging of an aussie citizen, even John Howard was pressured by the community to plead for clemency for this drug traffiker. Seriously I don't find hanging a man worth it as it would strain relations between 2 countries. They should let Australia deal with their own citizens with their own laws. Guess most of you don't have a high opinion of Chee..but from what I've been reading I conclude that he is a fighter. Just being picked on and put down collectively by people in higher positions who don't share the same views as him. Sounds more like authoritarian rule to me. Imagine yourself sacked as a lecturer after taking part in an election, being prevented from securing a job, being fined and imprisoned so many times, sometimes just for public speaking. Who can blame him considering all the crap he experienced from speaking out? How many of us actually have applied for licences for public speaking? From what I heard in the news, it was not Chee who concluded the drugs relations but a documentary that is filmed by an Australia tv network. If he is really full of nonsense, I really wonder why he got interviewed. Fault finding is what the opposition party is for, not to be jailed. http://www.scu.edu.au/research/clpc/human_rights/chee.html

Pygmy Gobies Galore !!!
FuEl replied to KingFish's topic in Weekly LFS Stocks Report / LFS Info Centre
Clown gobies generally are aggressive towards any others which look alike.. Darn..missing out on so much stuff.. -
In case the media in Sg did not publish this..which would not be surprising since media is government controlled. Only stumbled upon this when I was watching news in Australia. http://www.smh.com.au/news/world/tough-on-...1407638823.html Man..I'm supporting SDP.

All the wide press about the trade in endangered animals? The threat to natural populations? Check this out and you will look at it from another aspect. Most probably all being captive bred around the world. Reptile breeding in Indonesia Mammals for sale..even zebras Endangered primates Marine inverts, including Lysmata grabhami Tortoises My fav...frogs More frogs..poison arrows.. Basically http://worldwidefauna.com seems to sell anything. Now if only I have U.S citizenship.. Ultimate freedom with no bs regulations. Or retire to Malaysia..freedom too..

The last time I bought a purple boxer it cost about $8. The yellow headed boxers usually go between $6-8. Then again anything below $10 is reasonable. Pairs usually cost more but are worth it.

Did you let the newly mixed saltwater run for a day before using it for water change? Most salts need a running period for parameters to stabilise before usage. Don't add any additives for now. There is no way to bring the kH up to optimal levels with a calcium level that high. Find out what is causing the high calcium levels, then tackle your kH. Best bet is to perform water changes using natural seawater or another brand of salt for now, while you look for the source that's causing the ionic imbalance.
