  2. No point buying small UVs....the bigger the better.
  3. Interesting. Does this mean that every consumer who buys the seahorse will get a letter of transfer like the certificates given out when you buy an Arowana? Best part is that the letter is free! Adds a brand to the seahorse. Btw, the only seahorse considered endangered is Hippocampus capensis. H. kuda is not considered endangered as yet. Being CITES-listed does not automatically confer an endangered status. http://www.iucnredlist.org/apps/redlist/details/10075/0
  4. What? I think you need to clarify this with AVA before you pay them $ for nothing. You mentioned locally bred seahorses, not imported. Why in the world would you need CITES papers to sell locally produced seahorses when CITES is used to regulate international trade? There are no restrictions of trade of Appendix II species on a local context. If there are, won't farms selling corals have to issue letter of transfers to each individual who buys a coral which is under Appendix II? In short, you only need CITES permits if you intend to export. Local sales can be done without any CITES permit.
  5. I just saw this awesome fish at Coralfarm today. Unfortunately it had kicked the bucket.
  6. Read the instructions carefully. It is only intended to replace water that evaporates. Always good to have test kits on hand to make sure you are not overdosing.
  7. Wait for Ambon scorpionfish. It does come in once in awhile.
  8. If you have not bought the tank your options would be more open. Try to avoid buying the tank first and finding equipments that will fit the tank. I would suggest you incorporate a sump if possible.
  9. http://www.marinebreeder.org/phpbb/viewtop...=169&t=5658 Anything smaller than 1" and they might be bright orange with 3 white bars.
  10. Qianhu? Just kidding, they will chase me off after they find out how much money I am losing.
  11. Basically the bigger your rearing vessel for larvae, the better results you get. Commonly used tank sizes for larvae in places like ORA are at least 3-4 feet in diameter. I do not have the luxury of such space, I am forced to work with IKEA black trash bins which hold less than 5 gallons. Due to very very limited space, I am forced to work with only 1-2 species at a time. This is why I am not working on peppermint shrimp already. I'm currently trying out arrow crab & harlequin shrimp larvae.
  12. Hmm, the clowns were kept in sterile conditions with UV filtered water. They were fine until I added this into their tanks. Not sure what went on but my clowns showed signs of bacterial infections commonly associated with gram negative bacteria. I am not sure if the Pseudomonas sp. in biodigest caused any side-effects but all my fishes are alright, only the fishes from ORA succumbed. Most species of Pseudomonas are pathogenic to some extent, not too sure for the one used in biodigest.
  13. I have good & bad experiences. Good experiences using for new setups in establishing bacterial populations. Bad experience in adding Biodigest to my established tank. Killed 3 picasso clownfish..while my other fish were unharmed.
  14. 15 days & still on rotifers, estimate only 20+ larvae left. I just need 1 to become a fish!
  15. I think for your seahorse krill enhance would seem better. But I don't think they are carrying that product yet.
  16. NP biopellets claim to compete with cyanobacteria for phosphate.
  17. For those who wish to try garlic, do try out the above-mentioned product. I got mine from Petmart. Very concentrated, and it comes in a spray bottle. Although they did not mention storage I believe it should be kept in the fridge to maximize shelf-life. This product did improve the fish appetite based on my observation. My fishes ate about double what they usually consume in one sitting. This product does affect skimming efficiency temporarily after usage, common thing for garlic products. http://www.microbe-lift.com/ Under home aquarium>>fish foods section
  18. Those are not percula clowns, those are allardi clownfish hence the price difference.
  19. Probably how the blue yumas look like. http://eddie-coral-adventures.blogspot.com...t-shipment.html Look near the bottom half of the page.
  20. Biohome works for me. Will be trying out the latest NP Biopellets.
