  1. Hehe....hope she learns a lesson...it would be really dumb of her to go back & buy some more after they die.
  2. ...........Water evaporates...true...but the nutrients and other dissolved organics in your water does not evaporate. So in fact by just toping up water without changing water...you are concentrating your dissolved organics in a way...as they accumulate without getting removed.
  3. Blend some shrimp with hum...drop a few drops into the water and your sun corals should open once they smell the food.
  4. Near the SAFRA side...best to go during the lowest tide..not sure if the offshore bars are still there...like some miniature island..then can go there and occupy it...AHahhaa..and name it Pulau FuEl. . The carpet anemones will usually be found near the offshore bars. I just went recently when the tide was supposedly to be the lowest....however the offshore bars din seem exposed enough and the waters still seemed quite deep for me...so I did'nt risk it as i am a LOUSY swimmer. HAhahaa...
  5. Got 2 scallops in my tank too...been with me for 3 weeks+ already...somehow they tend to hide behind the rocks where it is darker...dunno why...maybe they don't like light? I just leave them there... Just make sure you feed alot...for me I'm dosing phyto everyday now..used to be once every 2 days..but oh well...see no harm dosing everyday...got skimmer.
  6. Hehe...change to Seachem's Iodide lah..it's formulated for timed release of iodide ions. Not sure about JBL...even people comment that their test kits are not accurate.
  7. Can go East Coast during low tide and pick ya specimens. Higher chance for long term survival. Picked my first carpet there about 6 years back.
  8. By the time AVA grant your permit the corals become extinct already.
  9. It's a very subjective question. No definite answers...only you can find out. We won't know cause we are not you...we have no idea what are the sizes of the organisms you are getting. You have to rely on yourself to take note. One good way will be to measure nitrite levels after every new addition. If it rises..wait till it falls to 0 before adding anymore things. It's like asking how many meals a person can eat in a day...a normal person would eat 3 regular meals. I would eat 5 large meals. I'm a pig.
  10. Yep...I did'nt even see mine die..when I woke up it died liao..1 day in my tank only. That time bought for $10 only. Think something fishy about the way it was caught? My tank was 2 months old already...then still die...Somemore there was nothing to bullee it...it was the boss of the tank...sigh...
  11. Wow...14... ...better than mine at least...my utterly useless sera test kit gave me a reading of 5 dKH...even for newly mixed saltwater...think must save up for salifert.
  12. No..gobies and blennies will not eat corals. Only fish to do so are most butterflyfish, the orange spotted filefish and some angelfish. Stay away from these 3 types of fishes and you should be safe with everything else.
  13. I think you mean lawnmower blenny. Leave it alone...they don't munch rocks. They are eating the algae on your rock (although it might not be visible to u).
  14. Okie...I will take that in mind...how nice it would to have a tank with just sand without live rock and just with clams on the sand bed!
  15. Wow...Danano open car workshop one huh? Fellow reefer got discount boh?
  16. I have a bottle of Seachem's Reef Iodide. Concentrated to 8,000mg/l The bottle is 250ml...meaning it actually contains 2000 mg of iodide. Iodine levels in seawater is naturally around 0.06mg/l Now..just imagine how long will it be before I actually finish the bottle? I only dose it once every fortnight-3weeks? Used it for 2 years already and it's still more than 9/10 full.
  17. Heh Razo...saw my lizards the other day? NiCe?
  18. Give them time. Not all fishes will feed on the very day you bring them home. Some might even take up to a week. Don't worry..healthy fishes usually adapt quite fast.
  19. Lesson is to be patience. With patience everything will fall into place naturally. Amitabha.
  20. Egg yolk is a component of Marine liquidfry. Basically I think this product is rather useless...it's not nutritious enough and the only thing it does is to foul up your water. If I were you I would go for DT's phytoplankton or MarineSnow instead.
  21. Keep Fungia.sp. Those with long green tentacles with white tips..I find those easier to keep. Just take note that they can expand their tissues with water and move across your substrate. So if you want to prevent them from moving and stinging other corals it is best to form some sort of barrier using rockwork.
  22. I was hoping there would be a sequel to it...like the plastic bag bursts and the melons fall out.
