  1. Tsktsk..mine finishes a hand sized blue linka in less than 2 weeks.
  2. UV light will kill everything. I suppose you mean actinic and not UV?
  3. I totally agree with you... Computers are more frustrating than aquariums. Just one loose connection on your motherboard can give you high blood pressure trying to fix it.
  4. Oh yes...it is also unmolested by my yellow tang, lettuce nudibranchs and turbo snails.
  5. Hope someone can help me identify this cute lil thing. Sprouted on my rock before...but when it died off after a few weeks I thought it was gone forever...but after a few months....it just sprouted back on the same rock.
  6. Start it off at 8 hours per day...slowly increase to 10...then 12 hours. Going at 12 hours per day for a new tank would surely lead to algae problems.
  7. Wow..nice and simple overflow...hehe....maybe I should try that out.
  8. ? So big can eat sea stars already... Just that you might have to help it snip of part of the sea star to give it a place to start from.
  9. If they grow too big they will make a very nice seafood dish. They do sell them at some marine restaurants.
  10. I got 2 of their lettuce nudibranchs....both seem rather attracted to the bottom intake of my surface skimmer....both got sucked into it once so far...now I reduced the strength of the surface skimmer and make it skim more from the top...hopefully history does'nt repeat itself... Both nudibranchs are recovering well......
  11. Normal daylight PL will suit mushrooms just fine. The only thing with 'marine' PLs is that they look more blue for aesthetic viewing. Does'nt help the mushroom much.
  12. Don't think so...think I'm sticking to my 58W ballast.. Don't want my bulbs to wear out that fast. Btw...bed of nails by alice cooper is nice too.
  13. UV light kills everything that is contact with it. Needless to say plankton and pods too.
  14. Probably not enough dissolved oxygen....your pH tells it all. Too much bioload will lead to increased CO2 levels in your water...if not enough water surface agitation for gaseous exchange to occur your fishes will suffocate.
  15. Just bought a salifert test kit to test my nitrates...Just as expected...I got a reading of about <50ppm of nitrates...oh well...not surprisingly since I feed alot. Did a massive 30% water change. Looks like I have to do 30% water changes twice a week to try to bring down my nitrate level.. Also finally took apart my skimmer to clean it...So much gunk at the bottom of the skimmer column... And had a very hard time scrubbing some of the coralline algae and the many glass sponges in my skimmer column...Maybe those interfered with the operation of my skimmer? Not sure...waiting to see if my skimmer will now skim out gunk like it did during the first 3 months of my tank....
  16. Yep..I've got 2 females to one male. You must see the size and the swimmerets. I know I've got 2 females as when I bought them both of them had eggs. If you have more than one male you will notice they will not stay near each other at all.
  17. Tat's all for now...thanks for viewing.
  18. Red seafan after smelling cyclops in the water.
  19. My lovely red algae. I just love it...it sprouted from my rock.
  20. Goniopora....I know it's hard to keep...ssshhh
  21. My red sponge... My harlequin with the used to be blue linka seastar.
