Erm..either you go for denitrator if you got $$. If not..on budget then go for deep sand bed in a refugium or sump. If the above choices dun suit you...then simply don't bother about the nitrates and stick to soft corals.

Yea..sometimes nudibranchs like to explore the rockwork. Lucky both my non-reef safe ones are filter intake proof.

Your best bet if you ever want to try is to avoid those with gill-like projections on the anterior portion of their bodies. Also avoid those with numerous serrata. These species normally store nematocysts..meaning that they feed on cnidarians. I have one white one..have'nt seen it for quite awhile..but it should be still around..I'm feeding it using soft coral. Got one more...base body color is black..with green spots. Had it for 4 months +/- already...dunno how is it surviving. If your tank got alot of algae..go for lettuce nudibranchs..Those are alright to keep..although 2 of mine only lasted about 2 weeks or so..they have a fetish for filter intakes....coupled with their fragile bodies...you can guess what happened.

I think those are the sri lankan scooter blennies? Where the males have a very high dorsal fin? They have a pink hue...Only heard of 2 species of mandarin fish..one is the spooted one..while the other has a more reticulated pattern.

No need to worry excessively...all organic matter will end up with the same fate...ashes to ashes..dust to dust..all will end up into nitrates..and hopefully reduced to harmless nitrogen.

different species of clownfish should never be mixed. If they can't coexist together in the wild...what makes you think they can co-exist in a small glass tank with 4 walls? You might be able to get away by mixing peaceful species..however..tomatos, maroons are some of the more aggressive clowns. I would say the most peaceful clown is the skunk clown. You might like to replace your tomato with a skunk?

Sounds like bacterial infection. Don't think you can do much..just change water and keep the fish stress free..hopefully it can recover on its own.

There is nothing a harlequin shrimp hates more than a chocolate chip starfish. They definitely dislike chocolate chips. Anyway..chocolate chips are not reef safe..Sand shifting stars are a better choice..and they are cheaper too. Watch the golden trevallys..they grow very fast and they pollute the water alot.
