  1. If it does'nt capture the food...it means it has no mood for eating. Pls wait a week before you attempt again. Introduction of food while the anemone does not want to eat might lead to the needless and wasteless firing of nematocysts, which requires lots of energy to be replaced. Digestion of the food itself also takes up alot of energy for the anemone.
  2. Erm...I don't think phytoplankton grow on agar disks..I suppose you are referring to Sabourad's agar? Agar is used to culture fungi.
  3. The reason for adding smallest fishes first is so that your biological filtration capabilities can slowly adjust to increasing bioload. Pls try to avoid damsels. They make future additions virtually impossible.
  4. Yea..i've always found the garden variety of hair algae to be quite nice smelling. Reminds me of seafood.
  5. Some organisms do live inside the sea cuke. Watched a documentary once..whereby a fish actually comes in and out of the butt of the sea cuke.
  6. Always get the smallest and least aggressive fish first. Add the biggest, most aggressive fish last. I would advise that you add gobies first.
  7. Correct IcecruncherZ..clowns can be more stressed if they host an anemone. They will have to perpetually remember to coat themselves with the mucus from the anemone to prevent themselves from getting badly stung. So actually hosting an anemone is more troublesome for a clownfish if there is no real need for protection against predators. Also..there is more to anemone health than feeding and lights. You will probably have to know whether the anemone is naturally found on reefs in the first place. For instance, the carpet anemone is found anchored in the sand bed in the wild...and it is very very fine sand..not anchored onto rocks.
  8. Got white ones with pink tips. Definitely not bleached.
  9. They just arrive wat..of coz they wun expand fully..like when ricordia floridas..when just arrive oso small small wat.
  10. It's still acclimatizing..once it's used to your tank conditions the tentacles will be 3-4 times the length of that. Beware of the corals placed around it. Might get stung rather badly by this fellow.
  11. I have seen those orange yumas @ re***n before also. Also $35 per rock regardless of no. of polyps.
  12. Normal behaviour for newly introduced clowns. They will clown around before settling down. Pls do take note that not all clowns will accept carpet anemones.
  13. Hmmm..that tank reminds me of the algae outbreak in my tank during the first few months..they can actually produce bubbles and float to the surface! Removed them by manually harvesting. Some how they all just went away after awhile...
  14. hmmmm..pass on the feather star next time..impossible to keep one.
  15. The main reason why people eat shark fin soup is that the soup is tasty. But WAIT...try eating the shark fin itself and you will know it is totally TASTELESS. It's the crab that makes the soup tasty. So instead of spending so much money on shark fin..mind as well spend the same amount on chilli crabs or lobster salad instead. It makes far more sense.
  16. There is a difference between surviving clams and growing clams.
  17. That's because my water level is 10cm from the top of the tank.
  18. No..it's inflated tissue..leave it there....
  19. People who consume shark's fin are more of a delicacy compared to shark's fin itself.
  20. It's a brackish-water fish. Can be acclimatised to either FW or SW.
  21. If you are not intending to keep more advanced stuff like sps...then you can just add tapwater that has been left overnight... Good phosphate absorbing product would be Rowaphos. You can find it at re***n or PR or ML and marine LFS.
