  1. My freeze doing what it does best. Been with me for more than 4-5 months already.
  2. Yellow headed jawfish warning my purple firefish not to invade its burrow. Actually it belonged to the purple firefish..but the jawfish evacuated it.
  3. Thor amoboinensis a.k.a ###### shrimp (total of 5 in my tank). Real cute fellas.
  4. Ok..some daytime pics... My yellow tang and Mr freeze.
  5. Did alot of walking today...from lavender mrt to farrer park mrt again.. Things to look out for Kirin>>>saw 4 sri lankan scooters. Some yellow tangs Ocean planet >>> Flame angels from hawaii arrived today. Small yellow tangs about 2 inches++. Pink skunk clown and saddleback clown spotted. Also one small healthy looking volitans lionfish (body about thumb length).
  6. My harlequins in their scallop tavern. Took a picture while they were doing a weird ritual..possibly for mating since the female just moulted earlier in the day. Female is the one on the left (blue one). Male is on the right (pink one). Many thanks to my friend, for giving me the female. Out of sheer luck they paired up without problems.
  7. Bumblebee shrimps...was wondering why I could'nt spot them..when they lights went off, found them riding on my sea cuke. This morning woke up and found they changed transport to the pinkish sea cuke.
  8. My arrow crab. Not disturbing any of my tubeworms. Lost part of his leg while walking too near my harlequin.
  9. They noticed I was peeping.
  10. Some night shots I have taken with flash. Firstly, my tank ambassadors.
  11. Now I'm waiting for the bulk order of Golden Pearls. Hopefully flame scallops will take them.
  12. If you put them in freshwater chances are that it will bloat and die from the sudden influx of freshwater into their tissues. Simple rules of osmosis.
  13. Glad to know this poll has stirred up so much interest. Ok..here's my experience. I placed 2 flame scallops at opposite ends of my tank. Then one day both of them found each other at the center cave and have been together since. So far been surviving for about 5 months already. Mainly attribute it to my dosing of phyto, spirulina and my undergravel plate. I would guess alot of things are reproducing under my U.G plates that I use to prop the rocks up. Was meant to be a plenum...but ditched the idea after considering the thickness of my tank. To judge whether a flame scallop is slowly starving is simple. Look at the interior of the shell...if you can notice the red flesh getting less and less and you can partly see the shell..then chances are that the scallop is not doing well.
  14. Learn from me!? Nonono....I would'nt be able to accept such a statement. I'm still midway in getting my reefkeeping skills polished. People to look out for are.............the top scorers in the tank section ...and the brothers in the sps forum
  15. At such tank parameters coralline algae should be growing like crazy. I suspect the accuracy of the test kits. Azoo brands are hardly ever heard of here in SG. The ones highly recommended are by Salifert and Tropic Marin.
  16. Do a search for anthias. Has been discussed before. Some are very easy to feed...some are very stubborn to feed.
  17. Just hope to find out....might be useful to other people who might want to try flame scallops.
  18. You need to maintain calcium and alkalinity levels as well. You could get a fellow reefer to scrape some coralline off his glass...and spread the 'shreds' around your tank. Something like the 'moss milkshake' you do in gardening.
  19. It feeds only on certain types of zooplankton. It has a very fussy feeding mechanism. The mucus it produces from its cilia can only trap zooplankton that possess certain chemical cues. If you live near the coast it would be best to set it free. Let's just hope that as fellow members learn to avoid certain livestock, farms and LFS will stop bringing them in. Totally a waste of lives.
  20. No problem..he will be paying me a visit tomorrow...got time to chit chat tomorrow then.
  21. Ok...Will take some pics tomorrow and post them as my tank update. First must go buy AA batteries...my digital camera uses batteries like drinking honey-water.
  22. Use the clip on. It's running on 150W MH bulb. It does not give out as much heat as 250W bulbs. Might even give out less heat compared to all your T5 tubes together. Somemore MH concentrates the heat on one area of your tank. T5s spread the heat out over a larger area. Just use a clip on fan blowing at the area directly under the MH 24/7 and your temperature will be perfect. MH gives out the 'sparkling' effect too. T5s can reach 39cm..it's only slightly more than 1 ft in depth. It's your choice really.
  23. Hmmmmm...I dun mind going...must support my country. Hopefully can see things that I will be looking for.
