  1. Check out ATIs by eAquanature...or alternatively those sold by Glare..cheaper in pricing.
  2. Lower your fishload by half and you should see lower nitrate readings.
  3. Maybe he thought your shrimps were bigger. Any invert that can fit into the mouth of another fish should not be risked..unless you are confident in the behaviour of the fish.
  4. Wrong forum....pls post under members tank & specs next time.
  5. Maybe they are about to moult?
  6. Sounds like the simple copepod. Larger fauna would be isopods and amphipods. Isopods would be dorso-ventrally compressed. Amphipods would be laterally compressed.
  7. Use those clear plastic mini pet tanks. Submerge the whole tank in water and pray for the fish to swim in by its own.
  8. I think DSB should not crash if they are left alone. Hydrogen sulphide diffusing out at a very slow rate should not lower your pH too much. If DSBs were to crash, most likely is due to disturbance by the reefer or by larger burrowing organisms, releasing hydrogen sulphide in a large enough quantity to induce a pH drop in the main tank. If you are worried of a DSB crashing your tank, you could go for a DSB in the sump. If anything goes wrong just disconnect the sump.
  9. Ok..time to cut down on food indulgence already.
  10. Get calcium and kH test kits. And calcium & alkalinity 2 part additives.
  11. Natural symbiotic shrimp species with associated gobies http://homepage2.nifty.com/PhD-mukai/Labor.../symbiosis.html
  12. Wow...most comprehensive site so far..... http://www.reefkeeping.com/issues/2004-01/hcs3/
  13. Another...in pdf format http://www.marineland.com/seascope/ss2002_issue2.pdf
  14. Ok..came across this webby http://www.advancedaquarist.com/issues/dec2002/Fish.htm Information on how to care to docile gobies. Another webby previously given by another reefer for identification purposes. http://uri.sakura.ne.jp/~dd/g/einfn2.htm
  15. Oh yes Rumor..the website showed the difference between yashias from different localities. Those from Indian Ocean tend to be more blotted in appearance. Check out the yashia at the top of the page...from Japan waters...almost full complete stripes!
  16. Ok..very scared they end up eating my caulerpa....anyway..quite nice crabs..never attack any of my gobies...the pair always stay together one.. Thinking of getting 2 more.
  17. Just wondering...besides hair algae, will emerald crabs eat macroalgae like caulerpa?
  18. xanthorhinica more rare mah...but scarely bring in the price the same as helfrich.
  19. OK...came across this site http://www.advancedaquarist.com/issues/dec2002/Fish.htm Good for people into gobies. Anyway..the pictures illustrate the differences in the dorsal fin quite clearly. The back portion of dorsal fin of xanthorhinica bends in a backward direction. The back portion of the dorsal fin of nematodes bends towards the front. Rumor..if you happen to spot any xanthorhinica help me buy first?!
  20. Oh yes..Rumor..need to ask you something..You know how to differenciate Stonogobiops nematodes from Stonogobiops xanthorhinica? Cause the PR shipment I saw some with short dorsal fins. Dunno if it could be the xanthorhinica.
  21. Ah..guess mine is female then..ventral fin no black rim...too bad not male..hehe..i prefer male fish.
  22. Hmmm..just wondering..how to tell if the gobies are male or female? Besides the yashias, for other species I think it is nearly impossible to tell them apart?
