  1. What test kit are you using? Calcium? Anyway..just read the 0.00 to the value given on the instruction sheet. In case of Ca I think when u empty the whole syringe 0 = 500ppm of calcium. So you take another syringe n titrate..let's say u get a value corresponding to 100ppm..so your calcium level would be 500+100=600ppm.
  2. Keep an eye on the firefish. If one emerges dominant you might have to sell off the other 2.
  3. Very simple. The air below the piston is meant to be there. Just read where the piston touches. If the color still does not change, simply draw another syringe and titrate the solution until it changes color. Then get the value read by the piston and add it to the maximum reading of the previous attempt.
  4. How on earth did you end up with such a high dKH? What did you do!?
  5. Selling as I will be upgrading my return pump. Bought for $40...letting go for $30. Still in good condition. Used for 3 months only. I still have all the additional parts and the box.
  6. Try adding them towards late week. The anthias will put a strain on your bioload. let your biological system cope with it first.
  7. I will be upgrading my return pump. Using weipro 4000. Rated 2700l/hr. Pm me if you dun mind a 2nd hand pump.
  8. 1.5 ft is too short....it will be best to maximise the usage if you are using a beckett. I suggest your body height to be around 2.5ft++
  9. Erm..so far..even at the TMSI at st. john's island...I have seen their filtration setup..their skimmers also single body column only wat..you want to separate the foam into 2 diff body columns?
  10. Yea..then they will just have to all conspire at once to snap loudly near the corner of my tank..then my 6mm glass will give way and they will be free...for a moment before they become belachan.
  11. Yep..looks better after i cleaned the back glass (which I left untouched for months) and vacuumed the sandbed today during water change. Anyway...It was'nt my intention to put them together. I actually put the new pistol at the extreme far end away from the other. But it had its own ideas..swam right into the burrow at the other side of the tank. Anyway..I got a female pistol with eggs in there..hope it can pair up with a male pistol.
  12. Thanks...wonder what took so long for sally lightfoots to be available here...only recently than eAquarist bring in..never seem them before elsewhere... from http://www.reef.esmartweb.com/inverts1.htm 'I added two Sally Lightfoot crabs to compliment the algae eaters. As a side benefit, they crop down annoying halimeda macro algae of which can overgrow neighboring corals quickly. The picture set above verifies this. They actively graze on the rocks all day and scavenge any passing foods. Behavior towards tank mates has not been a problem at all.' They eat halimeda?! Omg..they eat any algae!
  13. I dun print $$ like someone...can actually get so many sally lightfoots at once... Anyway... from http://www.saltcorner.com/sections/zoo/inv...bs/Pgibbesi.htm 'Has a temperature range of 72 to 79°F (22 - 26°C). A small, very fat-bodied crab with a greenish-maroon body and a strong swimmer. Found in intertidal zones where there is a plentiful supply of algae. A herbivorous crab that will eat both macro and microalgae including short tuffs of hair algae. However, a hungry crab will attack small fishes while they sleep. Pictured is P. planissimum, which is either the same or very similar in appearance.' My tank got alot of algae...no nid worry.
  14. Hmmm..I know..read up somewhere that they might catch fish..that's why i got the SMALL ones. Anyway...was at eAquarist they let me see the book about the crab..they state max size is around 3cm..quite alright for a crab..
  15. Well..at least now I know why were there hermit carcasses that time...darn cannibals..
  16. Tried to save the small bugger..although it was still alive..but it was half mutilated..oh well...was watching the murderer slowly stalk it to start feasting on it again.. Then came along the pom pom crab...and stole the hermit kebab from the zebra hermit.
  17. Actually now I think my stocking abit....high..wait ah..let me count.. Fish : 13 in total 2 sri lankan scooters...2 Jann's pipefish...1 purple firegoby..1 firegoby..1 yashia...3 antenna goby...2 rainfordi..1 yellow-head jawfish Crustaceans 3 'pom-pom' crabs, 5 ###### shrimps, 2 adult harlequin shrimp, 1 alpheus randalli pistol, 3 sri lankan tiger pistol, 1 purple head boxing shrimp, 1 arrow crab, 2 sally lightfoot (going to get 10 more), 1 cleaner shrimp, 1 blood shrimp, 2 emerald crab, 20 mini hermits. OMGF..just watched a real cruel documentary...1 zebra hermit pulled a smaller hermit out from its shell..presumably to feast on its abdomen! MuRrrrrrrrDeReRrrrrr!
  18. Heh..coz heard Rumor say it eat some algae w0t..so i try lor..i hate those brown stuff growing on my rocks. Reminds me of the stuff when my tank was 2-3 months old...now about 6-7 months old already the stuff come back again...... No more anthias and tangs for my tank...no more clownfish..No more fish!
  19. Hmmm..see how lah..see the next few days if they got space to settle down or not. My tank becoming goby + crustacean tank already.
  20. Both my rainfordis although are fat..but so far not eating anything that I feed. Only picking at debri in my tank. Hopefully they start eating soon enough...
  21. I find that they tend to climb more in newer setups compared to more established setups. Getting a new sea cuke will not help. Sea cukes normally venture onto rocks for food if there is not enough food in the sandbed to sustain it.
  22. If you want i try catch out the smaller male for you? Seems like he got not much territory to claim...
  23. Hmmm..not going for seagrass habitat? Or using rocks for cycling only?
  24. Hmm..when yours finish eating all the algae I can buy them 2nd hand...need them to eat brownish diatom like stuff.
  25. I was wearing black shirt n jeans. Carrying a red plastic bag. Hmm..hard to spot the sally lightfoots in my rockwork..so far can see 1...bought 2 rainfordi also..now only see 1..hopefully the other one did'nt get 'pistoled'.
