  1. That one is sold to Razo long ago to make space for more yellowhead jaws. My first yellow head jawfish is still doing well. Perhaps one of the lucky few to survive shipment. Was told that the fish arrived in ice cold water...maybe my recently deceased was suffering from brain freeze or something. Or maybe was just the side effects of possible anaesthetic use. Some collectors in the carribean area are still resorting to anaesthetics. Had it with jawfishes already...1 will be enough..time for me to move on...have not lost a single fish in many many months..until the jawfish episode... guess it will be back to gobies. The least problematic fish.
  2. NOt fighting. They stay at different places in the tank. Even when they came into contact it was only brief, not much aggression shown. The deceased fish does not even look tattered in anyway. It just looks dead...like how one would look after a heart failure or something.
  3. Chose the healthiest looking specimen..also the most robust. The fish was conditioned more than 24 hours before sale. I conditioned it for more than an hour before introduction into my tank. Nothing was there to bully it as it was the largest specimen in the tank. Appetite was rather commendable...about 7-8 mysis shrimps per feeding. Died 4 days after purchase. About the same as the jawfish I got from lck. Decided to boycott jawfishes...until the people improve on their capture and shipping methods.
  4. Deeply saddened to say....my latest yellow-headed jawfish died this morning. That's it.....no more jawfishes for me.......
  5. Nightshot of my paired Jann's pipefish. Male to the left. Has red 'spikes' on his snout. He has the weird habit of storing bubbles like eggs...
  6. Nightshots...2 out of my 3 sea cukes..too bad my tigertail cuke was not with these 2..if not can have 3some shot. Glass shrimp foraging in bottom left corner.
  7. I have a couple of crabs in my tank..tried to trap them..but not successful..oh well..they did'nt harm anything..so left them inside..somehow they behave like emerald crabs.
  8. Hmm..this might sound stupid...but won't attrition of the media break it into finer material? Meaning it would break down sooner? Meaning more frequent replacement?
  9. Growth tips on the birdnest? Not sure also...still acro noob.... wonder why my pics all look so brownish..
  10. Not sure if this frag has grown...hard to tell...
  11. bag up the rocks, and weigh the rocks + yourself. Then minus your own weight. More accurate that way.
  12. Eh..din notice any black rim on both my fishes...maybe I have a ###### pair.
  13. Dunno leh...but bigger the better. Lookout for second hands one..cheaper. If you get bigger models u will need bigger output pumps. Which means you get a higher turnover rate in your tank.
  14. Must see your bioload...if 1-2 fish alright..if more than that think you need a better skimmer...maybe a 2012 or 2013..esp if you want to try sps.. but if you got enough $$ get a AquaC remora?
  15. Ooops...think memory failing...should be tomorrow 1am...Thought today was sunday.....
  16. About to start!!!!!! Yay...going to tv liao.
  17. Yes..no point using a MH on such a shallow tank.
  18. hehe..ok lah..go for 4 tubes...hehe..your choice...
  19. Actually 3 enough already...You add one more like a lil waste....
  20. Hmmm...too cold if you ask me..metabolic processes all slowed down. Might be good for reducing the rate by which wastes break down. But if you have enough flowrate and a strong skimmer, you could raise it up to 27 slowly. If you are keeping sps you will notice them growing faster.
  21. No need for a MH. It will boil your tank if you don't have a chiller. Even if u use fans, imagine the evaporation rate. Using MH will leave you with only 1 spectrum. You can blend your own spectrum using T5s. T5s consume less electricity too. Wat is the depth and width of your tank?
  22. No lah..try my best..some fish can differenciate (Eg. scooter blennies, clownfish, pipefish). Jawfish virtually impossible (Just hope for 50% chance). Gobies I'm not sure...for my black fin goby I know the female is the larger one while the smaller one is the male..cause mainly sparing occurs between males...for the yashia I dunno...I just picked very different looking ones.. Anyway..gobies not very aggressive. Even if both male nvm..as long as your tank got space for them to have their own space.
  23. Feed garlic everyday. It helps alot. Ocean Nutrition Formula 2 got incorporate garlic.
  24. Think for tropical reef tanks you should not allow the temperature to go below 26. Anything less and your corals will end up growing very slowly.
  25. Baby groupers can be caught with hook and line at bedok jetty..
