Singapore breeders make reefbuilder's frontpage
FuEl replied to yikai's topic in General Reefkeeping_
Thanks for the kind words. Also worth mentioning are the support from reefers like cool guy who passed us his pair of Amphiprion theillei for breeding (give me another 6 months if they don't start, I'll pass them back to you), marinebetta for his superb pair of onyx perculas, Lemon for his pair of P. nocturna, Wilson for his pair of Hybrid Clowns, and the occasional pairs of fish that somehow gets to us via Aquarium Iwarna. Also from the loyal customers who prefer to buy locally produced fish. It's been a struggle but we are hanging on, we're not exactly there yet. -
Changing Water causes fishes to die.
FuEl replied to vinccc2009's topic in New to the Marine Aquaria Hobby
Fin burn usually due to ammonia. If you have not been adding buffer you could have low pH issues, ammonia is not so harmful at low pH as as it shifts towards ammonium. Once change water pH goes up and the ammonia becomes more harmful, causing your fin burn & ich issues. Best to get a pH meter to confirm. -
The myth that captive bred clownfishes don't host anemones is now debunked.

Feed them newly hatched brine shrimp and give them clean water. As they grow beyond 2 weeks old you may start introducing some aritifical diets like cyclopeeze. Clean water + clean rearing environment + very gentle aeration/kreisel. You may find more information here

Starve the fish & it will eat anything. Lionfishes are not very active fish and do not need to be fed every day. 1-2 decent sized meals a week is sufficient. Daily feeding can do the fish more harm than good.

Maybe zoanthid nudibranchs. You may wish to try out Fauna Marin's Pest Control that's available at Marinelife, Madpetz or Iwarna. http://www.reefcentr...d.php?t=1840397 Effective against zoa nudis, acro eating flatworms, amphipods, bacterial infections and can be used with sensitive species like xenia. A 250ml bottle will last a long long time (30 drops or approximately 1.5ml per 4 liters of water). This should equate to about 160 standard 4L dips.

You may wish to try Soilent Green, even clownfishes eat it.

Fauna Marin Balling Salts, along with Trace B solutions. Everything will be via dosing pump. If on budget, normal CaCal, sodium bicarb and Mgcl can be used along with Trace B. The daily dosing of trace elements along with your Ca,Mg and NaHCO3 will give a more stable delivery, as compared to a weekly "shock" dose. C-Balance works too as it has trace elements incorporated as well but for big tanks it can become expensive, especially if your SPS load is high. Kalkwasser when used alone long term can lead to Mg deficiency in your system so it is best to continue dosing Mg while dosing kalkwasser. Kalkwasser is good for maintaining a high pH and precipitating phosphate from your system, the dosing is usually tuned to match evaporation rate.

You may mix in Fauna Marin's Trace B to be used with Ca & Mg solutions. Then no need to dose trace elements separately. Will be dosed in the right proportions with your solutions.

Try It's Clear. Binds to protozoa and gram negative bacteria, stimulates the immune system of your fishes. Binds to dissolve organics, nitrates, phosphates thereby improving your water quality which will reduce stress on your fishes. White spot outbreaks become less severe and over time the fishes overcome it. 100% biodegradable and reef safe.

Give me 2-3 weeks to bring the colors up. My hang-on filter recently died so the tank was without flow for a day, some corals still recovering from stress...
-
Sure but no rare fishes in my tank after two Stonogobiops xanthorhinica jumped, leaving only only a nocturna goby and a neon eviota. Invertebrates 3-4 black squat lobsters with yellow stripes, 1 red squat lobster with yellow stripes. Been using Blue Treasure SPS salt for the past 2 weeks. I guess as long as salt mix is prepared properly there's no real issue.

Crystal clear water just 24 hours after using "It's Clear".

Hi Bro, The hang-on will give more than enough flow. If you find it insufficient in future you can always upgrade the hang-on filter. Do watch the Solite 1W LED, it can burn your corals if you on it for too long..personal experience.
