  1. My marine tank used to be planted. Anyway...to fight black brush algae you need to do regular water changes...inject more CO2...and dose Dennerle's gold7. Worked for me. Swear by gold7. Some pics to share...my tank lasted 2.5 years..before i tore it down as substrate fertilizer running low..changed the entire tank to my current marine. Kinda miss them..
  2. Hmmm...Don't think can do a review..I've got rowaphos, silicarbon, reefez carbon, contraphos in my sump. But can definitely say that things look better after a brand new packet of rowaphos.
  3. Melafix can be used with corals. It's a natural plant extract. I have used it in my reef tank before without any problems. Just that your skimmer will foam excessively. Best to off it during treatment.
  4. Sponges might release toxins in the water when they die..better take them out.
  5. Hmm..4 ft tank nice for goby and crustacean setups.
  6. Hmmm....sorry to bring up this very OLD thread... AT..what are the signs of marine velvet? How long does the fish take before it dies?
  7. Sea cuke galore...my tigertail cuke bought from CF a few weeks ago. Finally got a decent shot. Great for nano tanks if other species of cukes seem too large. However, slightly more pricey...but worth every bit of it..gorgeous animal...from hawaii.
  8. Think it's rather easy to tell the difference between royal gramma and bicolor dottyback. It'll be harder to tell between royal gramma and brazilian gramma. That's what you should look out for.
  9. Orange spotted grows up to 4 inches. You might have to consider selling it if it grows larger in time. Why not settle for species that stay small? The yellow clown goby is very attractive...don't grow big also..and like to 'hang' around on the glass.
  10. That's why keep small fish very dangerous to have high turnover rates.
  11. Think it's the yellow clown goby you saw..not citron. Citron got blue streak around the head region.
  12. My EVIL black cuke...it's been learning magic. David coppercuke!
  13. Good to see a moorish idol in good hands. Hope it does well in your tank for a long time to come.
  14. I acclimatize all my shrimps normally take only 15 minutes. If they are newly arrived shipments I stretch it to 30 mins. Normally it's ok to pour out 1/3 of the bag water, fill it up to the original amount with your tank water. Wait for some time that you are comfortable with, look if the shrimps are behaving normally. If they seem fine then repeat the process. After doing this for 3-4 times I just pour them into my tank already.
  15. Wow..they look unreal... Looks as though they have been subject to abstract painting.
  16. Plate corals, heliofungia spotted at Harlequin. Got some very small ones...rather reasonable price. Was tempted to get..but would exceed my budget this week..
  17. Anyone feeling hungry? Hehee...does'nt this pic remind you of a delicious doughnut? Or maybe it's just my own imagination. The sea cuke is the candy-colored bread, the plate coral reminds me of green jelly with white icing on top and the 2 shrimps are the cherry toppings.
  18. mY Smallest LPS...some kind of favites? Comparison with a trochus snail shell. Given to me by a fellow reefer...has grew quite abit since.
  19. Hmmm..a very strong resemblance to an abalone.
  20. Hmmm..came home..no more baby harlequins already..guess all become coral and fish snack. Expensive meal!
  21. I don't pounce on gobies....I net them...
  22. Ok..last pic...after this can finally sleep... You can see the faint outline of baby harlequins zipping about in the water column.
  23. Switched the light back on for a few seconds to take some shots. Quickly offed the lights later as i was afraid of disturbing the female harlequin.
