  1. Think it could be due to a pH swing. A tank at warmer temperatures, has less oxygen carrying capacity. Coupled with higher metabolic rates, there will be higher CO2 content in your water. If your kH is low, chances are that your pH might have fluctuated quite a little. Stressing the livestock. The first to go would be the shrimps..then maybe when the shrimps became 'belachan' then the fish became affected. Just my guess...
  2. Hmmmm...actually....Although ML pricing might be a little on the pricey side...I don't mind...rather than buying something cheaper from somewhere else and have it die days later..I'll rather put a few more dollars for a fish that has a higher survival rate. Henry also brings in some stuff that other people rarely do...thumbs up!
  3. Sigh..no choice have to use copper later...cause I have no !$%!# idea what I am facing that is bothering my yashia. Not visible to the eye. Looks like copper will kill most stuff. Gonna try it later...if I don't the fish will end up dead like the previous one anyway..
  4. I know..I'm paranoid...when transferring the fish back leh? I will be washing the fish in tank water for dozens of times before daring to put it back.
  5. It's copper..that's why I did'nt use it. Even one tiny amount go into my tank..that's it.
  6. sigh...my female yashia finally gave way to the gill disease...found it last night in the polyp of the black sun coral with its gills inflamed. My male yashia is also showing slight signs of heavy breathing and gill flicking...Think I better treat it seriously this time before it dies on me like the female..Might be forced to consider cupramine by seachem. Weird thing is that my other fishes are all alright..only yashias affected.. haix....at least these fellas cheered me up a little with their wait for frozen blue linkia.
  7. If you have trouble removing the fish....if you are too lazy to remove liverock to catch them...then just add a lionfish. Your problems will be gone.
  8. You can place them under the lights. They don't really mind light at all. Why most people recommend putting sponges in the shade is due to the fact that most marine tanks have algae or diatom blooms. Putting the sponge under direct light will lead to nuisance algae smothering the sponge. If your tank is mature and you have no problems with nuisance algae then by all means you can put it under direct light.
  9. Hmm..hope you know that if you have tangs swimming around it's most likely you won't see your ###### shrimps during the day...
  10. Keep an eye on the purple..they are more aggressive than the red firegoby..
  11. You'll have to check up invert books for info..don't think you can find much info on it on the net. I've got a pic of it in my tank section..around page 8-9..
  12. Hmmm..I had some attached to some sps frags...but then like no more already...the only place I find bryopsis now is on the internal box of my I-box....whereby the sally lightfoots can't access. Basically they eat most type of algae...read from somewhere they even eat halimeda!
  13. Great..hope to see some nice update coming..
  14. fRIEnD! So far never attack any of my fish..not even docile pipefish nor snack sized gobies nor snack sized shrimps..left my clam and tubeworms alone....They are not as active scavengers compared to hermits. I noticed hermits are more easily drawn to carcasses compared to sally lightfoots..
  15. eAquarist..sally lightfoots...lysmata kuekenthali...lots of GIANT anemone shrimps...blood shrimps...still left some red philippine ghost crabs
  16. I've tried trapping potential evil crabs..about 1-2 of them in my tank..so far unsuccessful..only trapped my 'pom pom' crabs.
  17. hmmm....tank not sold yet?
  18. cant find space for another 4 ft..thinking of putting in the balcony..then got natural sunlight..then can plant mangrove..ahaha..i building sandcastle like the crabs already..
  19. .......you went hongkong to buy back an anemone?
  20. I know la...I also know it's semi-aquatic. That's why they're destined to a life in my sump..at least for the time being..
  21. I hope they don't...they might become food for my house lizards..they are huge..always stealing crickets..even the big black one they use for fighting. Still have alot of planning to do...dunno whether to use mangrove mud or use fine sand..different species like different substrate. Anyway..my red ghost crabs very weird..give them a land area..but they submerging themselves...think it's because they are stated as nocturnal..later lights off then i go peek at them...
  22. I've seen clowns ripping off tentacles from the anemone and consuming them.....but never the flesh from the foot of the anemone..
