  1. Always liked to have a true royal gramma..but now into nano stuff..cannot keep..if not all my shrimps gone..
  2. I have 2-3 rouge crabs about 2-3cm that I gave up trying to catch. Until now never bothering anything..instead behaving a little like my emerald crabs..plucking algae from rocks..
  3. Ahhaa..focus bro.. you know what i mean right?
  4. They should be best kept in schools of 5 or more. They are either found in shoals or as pairs in the wild. Hardly are they found alone.
  5. A 3cm crab has no way of killing a yellow headed jawfish.. Unless the fish was already weak and dying..
  6. Not an easy fish. Out of 3 I tried only managed to sustain 1. And it was my first yellow-head. The other 2 after that din survive. Was not due to bullying or anything. The 2nd one I got actually paired up with the first one..but died only a few days later. The 3rd one I got was a GIANT in terms of jawfish size...very calm fish too. Was eating happily in its burrow. Died few days later too.
  7. Elbiru eballasts are the cheapest option. I think there single ballast units which can fire up 2 tubes. However, some people have commented that it might shorten the life of the tube by rapidly brightening it. I'm using this brand. From late last year till now..so far no problems Next would be Osram...supposedly better than Elbiru as it slowly starts up the tube instead of the fast surge of current that goes through the tube. Supposedly will increase lifetime of the tube. One of the best would definitely be Icecap ballasts. Can supported up to 4 tubes per ballast. These can be set to slowly brighten or dim your tank replicating a dawn/dusk effect. I did'nt get them the last time due to the pricing after being converted into SGD. Since you are gonna use 10 T5 tubes the Icecap would be the best bet. As you can simulate different lighting intensities during different periods of the day.
  8. Yep. Normal output fluorescents are quite bright esp when they are around the 6500K range. My tank used to be sustained on those lights. But T5s rock more. So much so that my mushies got 'light-stressed'
  9. No they don't come commercially as single unit fixtures as it would not be worthwhile. The minimum would be a twin-fixture. If you are only intending to have a single unit fixture then D.I.Y would be the way to go.
  10. Heh..did'nt go down too. Rather inaccessible for me.. Saving $$ now also. Holiday liao...no more pocket $$..so must work n save..
  11. Oh yes..forgot to add that at paradiz reef got alot of orange banded pipefish. Not the normal banded pipe. This one the bands are orange and red. Was tempted to get a pair. But scared will have conflict with my stable pair of Jann's pipefish that's why did'nt get. VERY reasonably priced!
  12. Hmm..since like I got one of those..happily sleeping in my acro..and the other one should be the normal eviota..
  13. Thanks to Joe_P for helping me do a modification today. Now at least excess CO2 gets recycled. Now..time to tune it again.

  16. Hmm..all fishes currently reserved. Thanks for interest shown. Only left the 3 little red crabs going for $3 only.
  17. After much consideration, I have the following to give up. Lowering bioload to replace with smaller fish. 1) 3 red ghost crabs (non reef safe, i keep them in sump) => $3 for all of them 2) Purple firegoby (big bully to my firegoby. Subadult with brilliant coloration. Been with me for about 9 months) => $10 3) 2 unpaired stonogobiops nematodes => $8 each Take all for $20. Priority will be given to those who have good husbandry. Pls give me some time to catch the fish as I have not trapped them yet.

  24. Sounds like the dreaded brown jelly disease. Do a search in RC and you should get the results. If I did'nt remember wrongly it would involve some form of iodine dip..
