  1. Do note that as the regal tang grows its size and temperament might change. The firefish would be intimidated by its constant swimming as the regal gets bigger. I would stick to 1 firefish. They are rather aggressive towards their own species unless they are a pair.
  2. Scared my dad later read..haha..Normally I tell him I bought the thing for about 1/3 the original cost.
  3. http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthre...threadid=365181
  4. Was at the new LFS behind mu****fa...the one at ve***n road...quite nice stocks..but pricing is.. $80 for a frogspawn..
  5. If you are just starting out I suggest you start out on frags like I did. Captive propagated corals are more hardy compared to newly acquired wild specimens. Look in pasar malam section for people selling frags. In the meantime you might want to read up the pinned articles in the sps section if you have not done so.
  6. Stray current will affect fish...try to ground your tank..
  7. Anyone saw starfish anywhere? Anything but chocolate chip stars. Cheong whole of central area today also cannot find. Only found choc chip stars and bristle stars..
  8. Woah..such clear pics..can be used in marine aquarium books.
  9. Hmm..those colonies with receding tissue you might want to frag it above the edge whereby the receding is occur. Frag it clean at the healthy tissue area and you might be able to save it.
  10. I agree...heard some reefers experiencing bleaching when suddenly activated carbon was used after a long long time.
  11. Make sure they dun fall on each other or touch each other somehow. If not you'll end up with white acro skeleton.
  12. Bought this today..could'nt resist..cause got a very chio crab inside..anyway..was told by a senior reefer that this piece had potential..oh well..so buy..then come home..it looks like jade!
  13. Came home and saw my boxing crabs mating! They are still like in this position. For hours already!
  14. I feed everyday.. fishes get mysis soaked in selcon or cyclopeeze, fish eggs, chopped clam depending on my mood. Mysis n cyclops everyday fare. The rest are treats only.
  15. wah...alot in bank leh..my bank only got $3.. Hmmm..spend at least $30 a week on reef stuff..multiply by so many years... All reefers think about how much you spent on the hobby over the years! Could probably have bought a bike or maybe even a car in M'sia..
  16. Sorry to hear that....deepest condolences to you
  17. Tank specs? Something is stressing your LPS causing them to bleach. Think you should address this problem before buying more corals?
  18. Think 25 degrees celcius is actually the maximum you should let the temperature go up to. Ideally should be closer to 20-22 degrees.
  19. Thought I would maybe share how I identify mushies..hope I'm right? .. Discoma mushies are smooth at the edges and might have bubble-like projections on the main body. Yumas also have bubble like projections on the main body and such projections also occur at the edges. Rhodactis have more 'spike-like' projections on the side of the body, without any bubble-like projections on the main body. Florida is rather straightforward...Sure many of you know one when you see one.
  20. Remembering someone telling me before that they are dinoflagellates. Don't think diatoms or cyano will disappear just before lights off..
  21. Oh okie..my 4X1.5X1.5 before using CR I used to dose manually. Very headache. Always faced low kH as I did'nt dare to add more than 2.5 tsps of reef builder a each time..
  22. It only eats blue sponge. Done a search from you. Here's a relevant link http://www.sgreefclub.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=17266
  23. Hmmm..it's possible to add 15 tsp of reef builder in one day? But I thought dosing instructions were like do not increase the kH by more than 1 mEq a day?
  24. Used to have a nitrate problem before I setup my sump with dsb...always around 40-50ppm. Now disconnected canister, running with remote dsb in sump..only about 1ftX1.5ft..did a nitrate test today..rather surprised with the results...although it's not perfect..but good enough for me. Will see if I can bring it down further. Would be quite hard as I'm not using RO water. I use water straight from the tap.. Now using a budget marine sources skimmer. Water changes now lazy..only change one coralife bucket every 2 weeks? Anyway..here's the pic of the salifert results after I took the readings..looks between 5-10ppm? I look through the side at low resolution mode it's around 2.5ppm. Oh well..rather glad it is below 10ppm.
