Nudibranchs attacking my buttons!
FuEl replied to blu_surf's topic in New to the Marine Aquaria Hobby
Okie...no prob...pm and sms (in case i outside) me on the day you are free and I will try to make it. Cut some zoanthids for them? Sure..will keep you 2nd in queue for the pistols. -
My plate not doing well...Suggest you get another plate. Must be heliofungia. I tried chasing them to the fungia but they don't host it.
-
Got eggs. Can see the eyes of the baby shrimps through the eggs already. Meaning free zooplankton.

More stuff to sell. One medium size abalone - $10 (let me know when you can collect and I will catch it the night in advance). Lysmata kuekenthali - $8 (from eaquarist) (can catch only after tank demolition) From what I observe this species hunts for polychaetes in the tank. More so than the other lysmata species. Does'nt perform cleaning functions. Red Cocoworm - $10 (Shed its crown but crown is growing back. Each head of the crown about 5 cent size) Ready to go. Flame scallop - $8 (Kept for at least 9 months already..might be closer to a year. still very healthy)
-
Available at eaquarist at siglap drive (near the caltex along frankel ave). Selcon is available too.
-
Seen it in person..a very beautiful fish...wow..how you managed to catch it out?

Let's say I had an adult pair. The female died a few weeks ago. The male died today. Both flipped on their sides. How could they die just like that? Should'nt be anything wrong with my water condition as other crustaceans are moulting well (iodide levels should be fine) and my sps are growing..Can't be copper poisoning as my other crustaceans are fine (even sensitive rock cleaner shrimps). I suspect they died due to malnutrition. I have recently changed to sand shifter stars due to the cheap price but have greatly regretted now. Somehow the harlequins take longer to finish a sandshifter than a linkia (I initially thought it was due to the sandshifter being tougher to cut)...But now I suddenly realised that sandshifter stars might have lower nutritional value due to them having less flesh. What do you guys think of this issue? Any other experienced harlequin keepers out there? The only abnormal behavior I realised was my male harlequin pacing around the tank last night, abandoning his sandshifter star. Today at noon it was back to the star and was looking in the pink of health(A fellow reefer who came my place saw it too). I come back 10 hours later and it's lying on its side...dead.

What's a good sand sifting addition to the tank?
FuEl replied to Meanpokman's topic in General Reefkeeping_
Don't forsee any problems..anyway..can pm me your contact? -
*yawNs*...rest still available.

Don't go for anthias unless you have a very efficient skimmer. Anthias needs to be fed several times daily to maintain their health. If the skimmer is not up to par you'll end up with cyano bloom in the end. Happened to me..swore off anthias then.

I doubt its parasitic. Well evolved organisms try to maximise the use of their host without killing it in the end. The shrimp most likely would be using the clam for shelter. Should'nt harm the clam much. The shrimp might actually keep debri off the mantles, defend it against pyramid snails, etc. Housekeeping in exchange for shelter.

Might be contagious..had my birdnest colony rtn on me a few days back (My fault as I handled it after handling other corals, including zoanthids)..a birdnest frag downstream of it started to rtn today...now half the skeleton is exposed.. And to think it had colored up deep pink already..

Will throw in a 1/4 eaten sand shifter star for free.

Will hand carry the livestock to you if you are able to meet me at the mrt. People in the west who are interested just drop me a pm with your contact and I will get to you all tomorrow morning to arrange.
