Copperband butterfly & Majestic angel reef safe?
FuEl replied to Eric's topic in FOWLR (Fish-only with Live-rock)
Don't think your copperband will disturb your corals. They might disturb tubeworms though. As for the majestic angel it might go for the meaty LPS. Don't think they will disturb sps. Do note that angels might peck occassionally for algae which might disturb your sps polyps quite frequently. Should'nt be an issue if your tank is large. -
They are the same fish. Their color does'nt show when they are stressed.
-
These fish don't really swim. I have kept them before. They snake around rocks, crevices and corals just like moray eels. They hardly swim out into open water unlike other pipefish. You can find them at r*b*** quite often. Be sure to choose carefully though.

Copepods can live anywhere. Hehee..When I was using canister amphipods were even thriving in it!
-
Your red monti... Anyway, nice fish you have there! Hmmm..your jawfish looks HUGE by comparison to the yellow tang!

Not a fish for a beginner. I have tried this fish numerous times when I was much younger and ignorant. In 2ft tanks, even my old 4ft tank. Never successful, mostly due to difficulty in feeding the guy. Had this thought about them being cyanide caught, but now realised it might not be the reason. Till now I have 0 confidence in keeping this fish. Stopped buying bicolor angels since many years ago. This was actually one of my favourite angels. Now totally gave up on them.

Hmm..your Acropora hyacinthus seems to be coloring up. Can't wait for more pics on how the color intensifies. No wonder I thought I saw someone familiar on RC...Exact same nick..only with no. 8 behind.

I would have just used my fishing rod and the artificial lure.

How low? NSW has a kH of about 6. But people tend to aim for higher levels in aquaria to prevent pH swings. kH levels less than 6 will be dangerous.

If got no time to spend with your pets go for reptiles. They don't get suffer from emotional problems as much as other pets. Can be fed 1-3 times week. No problem at all. I had a friend who liked house lizards so much I gave her a big bottle of lizards and she released them into her house. Not defined as keeping reptiles I hope..

*RoArrrrrrr* Pls be discrete! Actually makes no sense that red eared terrapins are the only reptiles allowed as pets. Just look how they have affected local ecosystems..and they are still being sold...I just can't stand the "look cute & harmless and thus green light mindset". Terrapins should be banned!

Rainfordi and firefish reserved by hulk already... Rainfordi a little thin due to months of unwillingness to feed...but recently began to eat live adult brine shrimp. So should have no problems fattening the fella up. Just let me know when you can collect the cuke.

Checking on acceptable KH range
FuEl replied to surfedelic's topic in SPS and Advanced Reefkeepers Forum
What test kits are you using? It's rather impossible to balance Ca levels of 420ppm and kH levels of 19.6 dKh. -
Sorry element! Kind of forgot about you.. Kind of forgot everything that happened in the past months right after my last exams...guess my brain really ran out of memory space after that.. Will make it up to you somehow..just let me know what you are looking out for and I will buy them on your behalf first if I see them on my LFS visits. How does that sound? Huh...it's been in singapore since years ago..you just had to know the right places to find them.. Flubby flubby where have you been looking all along?
-
Appearances are deceiving. These frogs are gluttons. They won't be that cute once they grow into adults capable of eating mice. Even when they are juveniles they must be housed separately if not they will cannibalize each other. How's that for cute? These are the guys you won't want as an introduced species. I was at an aquarium yesterday..and they were selling albino african clawed frogs..voracious fish eaters. Imagine if these guys got into local ecosystems..will do worse things compared to south american fish in our local waters.

Hmm..by right the heat liberated by the external MD55 should be released into the surrounding atmosphere...unless your pump is in a cabinet or something with low ventilation?
-
Ooooo...argentine horned frogs (cant believe they kept it in that kind of substrate.. ) A big local fish importer brought them in recently..I wonder how they did it.. !Green tree frog (poor thing got snout abrasion)! Cute baby bearded dragons! And the cutey green iguanas that will grow into giants.. Aiya..roidan next time before you go bangkok tell me mah~! *tsk tsk*

All liverocks reserved.
-
Awesome hermits that I love..they look real adorable when adult. With big and cute harmless pincers.
-
About 5-10kg of liverock available as I am restructuring my tank. About half is heavily coralline encrusted. Other half not so much as they were used as base rocks and I bought them as dead rocks..but seeded with bacteria over 1 year already. Going for $5 per kg. Collection in east area around bedok mrt. Will be available from wednesday night onwards.
-
Hmm..next time if east coast becomes infested with donkey dung cukes we know how it happened.. Maybe I should dump my 1 foot black cuke there too?

Mellow..if you have not done so it would be informative for fellow reefers if you could use a syringe to test the water below the plenum and see if there is any difference between that and the main water above the sand bed. I have this feeling that phosphates and maybe even nitrate levels might be higher below.. Read it before in an article that plenums might actually be nutrient sinks.
