  1. You must consider they have to pay for rental and the kind of risks they are running. If they earn a meagre sum I see no point for the shop to stay open.
  2. I just used an elbow instead of a T-joint. Just used a smaller powerhead to pump water into the pump to start.. Make sure to pvc glue the parts properly.
  3. ? They are famous. Wonder how their shop still open..
  4. Hmmm...If only the wild colonies have problems...it might not be surprising. Captive propagated specimens tend to be tougher compared to wild-collected specimens. Different origins might be a factor too. An analogy would be like...people living in africa might have certain immunity to malaria..but if singaporeans were to visit africa..the chances of getting malaria without first taking a vaccination jab is very high. Get what I'm trying to say? In other words there could be a pathogen of some sort in your tank in which wild sps have no immunity against..while captive propagated sps do.
  5. Live mysis? Those from what I heard are actually baby shrimp. Not exactly mysis. Look at their red antennas and you know what I'm talking about. Seen people catching these at pasir ris mangroves during low tide. Maybe you can try? Heard these are only seasonal though.
  6. Lettuce nudibranch. These actually store the chloroplasts of algae they consume to be their own sugar producing machines.
  7. Feed after lights out when their tentacles are out. Easier for them to grab the food.
  8. Md55 is perfect. Split the outlet into 2.
  9. Might be flatworms... Not sure if mandarins will eat flatworms though..never tried. Anyway, I got 1-2 limpets in my tank to pass to you. Remember you were looking for them. They just appeared in my tank from nowhere. It's like they dropped from the ceiling into my tank.
  10. Different anemones have different requirements. Read up on the exact species you are intending to keep. Some need different substrates. Some need less light or maybe even no light (tube anemones). Easier species in my experience would be bubble-tip anemones and carpet anemones. The latter must be kept with caution (they eat anything). Nitrates must be zero. Pick healthy specimens which tentacles should be sticky to the touch. Don't pick those that are not attached to anything and just floating around. Avoid powerheads in your tank. Anemones love powerheads..they will never stop looking for them for a good blend.
  11. Did any changes recently? Like change of lighting? The light might be losing its intensity which is why the yellow ones turned brown? Yellow acros demand very intense light to retain their colouration. Change of bioload? Change of salt mix? Change of additives? Change of water? I learnt that some brands of anti-chlorine if overdosed even slightly will kill yamato shrimp and cause fish to slough their protective slime coat . Now no choice have to add anti-chlorine cause of chloramine in newater ? Untreated NEWATER is DEADLY WATER to fish and inverts. Just some things you could think about.
  12. I thought I remembered sometime ago someone mentioned it could be found in east coast? Or is it my jumbled memory?
  13. I guess they would. They look edible to me. At least not hairy like small nudibranchs which mandarins might not touch. I recommended mandarin as it is a slow eater too and it won't stress your seahorses much. Consider mine leh..mine weaned already. Meaning if it finish those stuff in your tank you feed frozen food it will take also. I now working not much time to supplement their diet with frozen food..
  14. You need to replace the ballast. 3 ft T8 FL tubes are 30W. 3 ft T5 FL tubes are 39W.
  15. I can pass you a mandarinfish to solve your problems. Self collection though..
  16. I fragged yumas before. Survival rate is maybe only 1-2 frags out of 10 frags even with iodide provided. Suggest you sell the whole frag instead of risking not even getting 1 frag to survive. Other mushrooms like discosomas will readily join to form a disc once again but for yumas..it's very very hard.
  17. Bigger fish like tangs, angelfish. Smaller fishes like gobies are hardly caught using cyanide. Bigger fishes tend to be more in demand and divers frequently drug them as they are afraid the fish will be injured during capture. Smaller and inexpensive fishes tend to be spared any form of drug-based capture.
  18. Wow...cheers to Henry for bringing in such a great variety of livestock. Have'nt had the time to drop by to see the goodies.
  19. I'm speechless. A work of art!
  20. Yep..clown gobies will nip on acros. Used to keep one with my acros. Noticed my acro polyps never extended much during the day. The bugger kept nipping on them playfully as if they were worms. Never really caused rtn of my acros. Only problem is with stressed newly introduced acros. You can literally see the tissue gone in hours due to nipping of the clown goby. Established acropora seem to be able to withstand such abuse.
  21. Hmmm...I know they will eat diatoms. But if you are talking about green hairy algae I doubt so. Why not consider sea urchins? Alot of cute ones around.
  22. Wow..beautiful fish.. But helfrich still the best. ..but still so expensive..
  23. Skimmer helps to remove dissolved organics too. Keep in mind that the mucus released by corals are protein-based too and will break down if not skimmed out. The advantage of a strong skimmer also helps in a way to oxygenate your water sufficiently. Using a weipro, you must stock up VERY VERY slowly. And not to mention you won't even feel safe feeding your sps while running a weipro. A macro needlewheel skimmer or a mini-beckett skimmer is the least you should run. Nutrient level is only 1 factor that will affect sps colouration and health. Other factors include stability in water parameters, lighting level and sufficient current (Avoid laminar flow, go for turbulence).
  24. That time got target free when I free...each polyp one mysis..but most of the time shrimps steal the mysis. Most likely it was the miracle of Golden Pearls.
