  3. ............It's a salamander.............*faints*
  4. Shrimps normally lose their appetite few days before they moult. Don't worry too much..often shrimps will eat when you are not looking.
  5. The only problems I got with using water straight from the tap were diatoms and probably dinoflagellates. Did'nt get any problems with hair algae. Since you are not using a FR you might want to turn your phosphate removing media every few days.
  6. Depends on the species. The blue spotted stingray is one of the smallest species I know that is suitable for aquaria.
  7. There's a difference between creamy white and translucent white.
  8. As long as your fish don't look skinny the feeding is good. If they look fat or they have bulging bellies after feeding you're feeding too much at once. Better to divide that amount to be fed over the day.
  9. I had a tame cowfish which did just that. Probably playful behavior..then again there could be other reasons..haha You should feed it frozen mysis. If it shows no interest you might have to try live adult brine shrimp to get it feeding first. Cheers~
  10. I would go for Tanganyikan cichlids. They don't grow as big and they are not as aggressive as Malawi counterparts. Just a suggestion.
  11. It will only satisfy protein and energy demands. The fatty acids found in daphnia can't be converted to EPA and DHA by marine organisms.
  12. Leave it on 24/7. It helps. Sometimes it's not only the lights which heat up your water.
  13. Hmm..lailai..someone show full back star tortoise.
  14. Personally I find carpet anemones one of the hardiest anemones to keep. However, there are 2 things you should take note of. They are not exactly reef safe as they have a very strong sting and will eat anything which comes into contact with them, even big fish. Secondly, in the wild they prefer to anchor themselves in sand. I kept my carpet in a 10 gallon aquarium with a 36W 6500K PL. Did weekly 50% water changes. No skimmer, running on canister. Kept it for about a year and I had to give it away as it outgrew the tank. Then again it might have been the health of my specimen as I collected it directly from the sea. It was not subject to additional stress at retail outlets.
  15. Nice tank...lucky have not slept..would have missed such nice photos... Anyway..keep up the good work!
  16. Ask him post his tattoos lah...I might want to do a poison dartfrog too...lol..maybe the blue one.. Ya..my fren told me the recent price I was shock..last time cost me arm and leg..the first digit was 3. Got from..tat guy..the one who running from AVA now..because of some dog cruelty at his lck farm..and some illegal birds.. He's a real prick if you ask me.
  17. One thing I must agree with..alkalinity drops much faster in a reef tank compared to calcium.
  18. ah_d3x...you should do one of the panther chameleon like the one in your avatar...maybe I should do one too..forced to sell off my dear panther... The one in your pic looks like a Tamatave morph..do drop me a pm if it was from a recent shipment..
  19. Wow...my post using the weipro? That must have been some time ago even before I got my I-box or sump.. Anyway, I think most people who can't get the best effect are either using too weak or strong pumps. I remembered my weipro was the 2012 model. I only used a 1200 l/hr powerhead on it..which was the recommended pump flowrate on the box I think. Don't remember controlling the air or doing anything fancy. It does make sense that larger weipro models will produce darker skimmate, as the larger models have a taller reaction chamber. Anyway, I'm back to weipro once again...maybe I post a pic of weipro 2012 skimmate when I'm back sometime in July..
  20. Hmmm..tattoos....Ok..my first one.....thinking of another.. Meet fire salamander..Salamandra salamandra..realistic tattoos rock. yep..it's the one displayed outside Utopia tattoo studio at Roxy Square. Going back soon for my touchup. It looked so much nicer when it was just completed..now looks so faded..
  21. If your tank is not fully cycled yet you would probably notice your common clowns swimming around restlessly and probably breathing heavily.
  22. Depends on what you keep really. If you are going softies it will probably suffice since soft corals will take up dissolved organic matter.
  23. No worries...they are peaceful shrimp.
  24. Iodide is ionised. Iodine is not. Iodine added directly is toxic.
