  1. These are overkill for ur 2 ft tank, rating of 65w is too high. Your tank probably use a few 20+ watts tube can liao, 1 white 1 blue 1 athenic will do nicely.
  2. Yellow or sailfin but try to introduce together or 1 per mth as they are territorial fishes. Introduce the bigger ones later. Once your algae reduced by the tangs start feeding fresh vegetables from the market with a vegyclip. Dried seaweed from the market also good. This will strenthen their immune system from ich attacks thats very common in keeping tangs.
  3. no skimmer??? I can see red cyna growing liao be prepared.
  4. snails cucumbers hermit crabs only help remove diatoms(brown algae), the green hair algae growing on ur rocks and corals just get some fishes that love grazing on hair algae like foxface or tangs. When u get the fishes dont feed them, let them eat the algae.
  5. is the fish caught out and put into a quarantine tank yet for treatment?
  6. bro dun put ur hammer too near other corals unless also hammer species, hammers sting.
  7. judging from the pics i think i know wats the problem, the LEDs might be arranged too close together thus the short width spectrum produced. Maybe u can try hooking up just 1 LED then turn it on against a wall and measure the spectrum width (height dun need to measure i guess). Then calculate a more wide spread arrangement on the copper plate so the spectrums crossfire each other better. Of cos u'd have to redo the copper and cooling plates then but since u using it for 5yrs or more better to do it right right? Just a suggestion anyway. Also, are u using anything to control dimming effects? Good work anyways .... Cheers
  8. ok slight comment then on the wiring, did u use thermal sleeves at the wire tips, from my experience the rubber armour of these normal type wires will melt and harden in time to come due to heat. The sleeves my company's electrician uses are white in colour, u can get them locally easily. Just cut to size and use a hair dryer til it moulds around forming a thermal protection around the wire.
  9. ahhh ok cool now i understand why the copper plates used ... thks for sharing bro!
  10. What if i buy the fish and donate it but it still dies? Whats the difference dying in someone elses tank then my own? Less heart pain? LOL
  11. I dont see why he can keep so many species of hammers and torches yet it would seem dangerous to keep an anemone. A palm sized one would do nicely, just throw it to the bottom it will make its way up to the rock it wants to attach to. From what i can see bro colin's seio is very high up and he only has 1 at the side. Best way to settle an anemone down to its safe nesting spot is not to force it to an area u think u want it to be. They will choose where they want to be, usually near an area with sufficient water current and light. When u keep one the first few days gotta monitor it closely, it gets too near any choppers just move it away again til it finds a spot which u feel is safe enuf then leave it alone. Lastly, i find a lot of ppl like to use the seio with the safety casing removed for the wall camera method usage. Anything can get sucked by it easily not just anemones, i have stopped using the camera method and installed the casing. The wave maker takes up lesser space and is much reef safer with the casing. A little head loss but no biggy thats all. Thats the advantage a seio has actually as compared to a tunze streamer, just dunno why ppl dont want to use it lol.
  12. get some cyclopeeze and throw in, if the skimmer starts foaming crazyly and u can see some cyclopeeze being skimmed up that means ur skimmer is fine and its only becos ur tank low bio load.
  13. get ur clown an anemone to host lor, ur tank deep enuf to keep wat. Make sure not dyed ones and choose those that have fat tentacles.
  14. If u want ppl to give u fish bro maybe u can use the "I'm a student gimme fish" method, works better lol. Sorry kidding no flaming intended keke
  15. I just find it confusing to be frank, ask ppl buy then keep in ur tank. In the end a reefer instead of buying 1 fish for his tank he gotta buy 2, 1 for u 1 for him that means more fish gotta be caught to keep up with the demand if ever theres more ppl who have the same concept as u. So how does ur concept denote the ignorance of some reefers who overstoke overbuy i dunno ...
  16. Huh? No lah 1 spoil doesnt mean replace whole thing lah, actually theres many ways to make an LED lighting system, LED sockets can be bought for the LEDs to be plugged in or removed easily but i was just curious why bro Alex went the oldschool copper board method mah cos u basically soldering them all onto the board in series if i'm not wrong. Also i think lets not compare a DIY LED system to a few thousand dollars unit by Solaris lah, Solaris is fully computerised to simulate nature's lights in/out.
  17. some salt brands contain high levels of calcium mah
  18. Hmmm like that if need to change LED need to desolder?
  19. So its 300 for the tank/cabinet alone without skimmer correct?
  20. can u show a pic of inside the cabinet? Any sump used? Thanks
  21. beautiful bro keep the pics coming!
  22. wakao thats 540 watts in total! 4FT tank if use MH would be 2x 250watts unit plus 2x T5 54watts (for blue) thats about 608 watts ... close pretty close. Got pros and cons i guess, MH can reach deeper and will give more intense spectrum. T5s give more spread from top to mid level. Guess it all depend on one's tank height and rockscaping to see which type of lighting best suits.
