The main pump's job (aquabee3000 in the pic) is only to recirculate the water in the main chamber in a continuous loop thru the venturi air injector, making the bubbles finer and finer. Theres another 1200l/hr feedpump connected at the water inlet pipe not shown in the pics. Theres many joints at the area where the aquabee is bcos its for easy maintenaince, 2 union joints before and after the pump for easy disconnection. Skimmer was designed by the americans so u can compare it with the way they design cars i guess, raw power is the name of the game.

Came home from work first thing i did was open tank cabinet and a smile came on .... SKIMMATE AT LAST! My vodka bottle was filling up with smelly skimmate foam, a little wet maybe gonna try dryer setting.

Alright wasnt too happy with the Atman pump used by the skimmer so i modded an aquabee3k into the skimmer n also added some rubber studs by 3M under the base. Resulted in a much quieter skimmer and almost zero vibration. Just fired it up an hr ago, should see skimmate in the next few hrs or so.

Theres different grades, so u have to make enquiries as to which grade is suitable for reefing. But the likely hood is the purer the sulphur the better lah. And remember the sulphur beads can last for about 2 yrs w/o changing so in my opinion go for the best grade u can afford since it'll be a long time b4 a change is needed.

Good morning n good news bro its almost 6am here after i spent 2hrs moding the aquabee into the skimmer. I would say i did a very professional job lol bloody happy with it. Looks like it was the intended pump in the first place. Only thing the pipings on the left side had to be slanted slightly. And i did'nt do any mod that was permanent meaning anytime wanna change back pumps also no problemo. Heres some pics but i havent submerged it yet to test cos the one joint that i siliconed needs time to set, play safe i dowanna go thru another 2hrs lah got many other stuff to do. Will fire up later when i wake up and posts pics in my thread stay tuned. Will help u soon too with ur denitrator b4 u leave SG. Wa ki koonz liao sibei buay tahun. Btw i have been using a 2011 for the first year of my reefing experience these past 4yrs, verdict is u get wet skimmate mostly n sometimes have to retune cos the neck is short and narrow. Dry skimmate takes days b4 u see any as compared to better skimmers. Also a 2011 is undersized for ur tank. 2013 is recommended.

More powerful pumps that is placed outsump somemore use to power a beckett means 100+ watts pump means u save chiller bill pay more skimmer bill lol. Well low wattage outsump pumps have a few lah but cost an arm u want to buy?

I have a Macro KS300P for sale, very new condition. $75 negotiable. Noise low bubbles very fine, pump uses needlewheel technology like most expensive skimmers. See pics, whitish stains u see are just dried calcium powder can easily wash off. Collection cup even has a valve u could uncap and attach to a waste collector. Skimmer in action, really fine bubbles spiralling all the way til the top. Manufacturor says it will take 1 to 2 weeks to break in the skimmer. No skimmate so far after 12hrs. Damn demoralising lol .... guess i'm too used to my monster Beckett.

Look at the number of parts ... skimmer has lifetime warranty and every single part can be replaced if damaged. The only thing i didnt like was the pump, bloody manufacturers cutting cost. Was supposed to be some american brand pump when i ordered the skimmer. Oh well as long as it works. By the way i checked the impellor it doesn't use needlewheel. Just a normal pump impellor. (Marlboros aint included)

New skimmer finally arrived from states ... i think i'm gonna take a break once the 250mh is up. Been a very tiring few days hooking up equipment after equipment buying n selling equipment. Never guessed decomming and upgrading when done together can be so exhausting!
