  1. For more info on the Ice Probe chiller... http://www.coolworksinc.com/aquarium%20chiller.htm
  2. It was running on the 2x55W fixture (using Coralife PL) that I'm selling plus another 1x55W 17000K DIY. That's a whopping 165watts in total for a 12" shallow tank.
  3. 3. DIY sump/fuge with bracing/support for Ice Probe chiller $19 Item 3 is FREE with purchase of Ice Probe Chiller as it's specially designed for use with the chiller. PM me if interested. Thanks. Danano
  4. Here's a pic (taken a few months ago) of my nano doing well with the above lighting, chiller and sump/refugium setup. As some of you may know, I've moved many of my corals and clams over to my larger tank. I plan to start a new nano system connected to my larger setup. Hence the SALE.
  5. The blue container you see is the sump/refugium. Water is pumped with a small powerhead into the sump and overflows back into the tank.
  6. Ice Probe chiller on the left sitting on the sump. Lowers the temp to between 26-28C for 2ft or smaller tanks.
  7. 1. Ice Probe chiller (used 8 months) $199 2. 2ft PL fixture with 2x55W Coralife tubes (used 6 months) $119 - 1x55W 10000K and 1x55W 10KK/Actinic (50/50) 3. DIY sump/fuge with bracing/support for Ice Probe chiller $19
  8. Dr J_M, you may want to have a look at the link below for info on how and what's needed to care for sps. http://www.sgreefclub.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=1629
  9. Hey Dino, just monitor it closely, it may just be taking a little longer adjusting to your tank conditions. Btw, when was your last water change and how many gallons do you change each time?
  10. Dino, if your water conditions are optimal, the polyps should extend within a few hours or a day at most. What does your complete setup consist of? And what are your Ca and alkilinity readings? Care to share with us your water parameters? Pictures of your tank/sump/skimmer/etc would be useful too. One more question, how long has your tank been running? Make sure the "current" is not directed straight at the colony or you may find tissue sloughing off! That's a nice specimen, take good care of it. Dan
  11. Looking good dude! How are you managing with the algae?... under control I hope.
  12. Very nice reef ASH! Hey DeepBlue, you're participating in TOTM... right? It'll be another 6 months or so before the "Mixed Reef" category comes around again. So go for it... ASH vs DeepBlue
  13. Yes, I see about 1/2 to 1cm of growth! Polyps fully extended and nice colour too... SWEET
  14. Morgan... yes, and I am thankful for that and I feel truly blessed! ... but sometimes must still justify my acquisitions, i.e. very rare, unusual colour, good for sps/clams, etc. All said, you are correct in that she is very supportive and understanding. But seriously... I manually dose Seachem Reef Builder and Reef Advantage Calcium (separately) daily along with my top up water . I find dosing to be more cost effective for my 30g setup. A Ca reactor would probably make a lot more sense for larger systems (3ft or larger).
  15. LP, that's hilarious... that's the line I sometimes use as well. Let's meet up one of these days... talk strategy.
  16. ... got home about an hour ago. A pretty large shipment of sps and some LPS/softies came in. I think shrooms as well. Some fish too. Check it out this weekend!
  17. How often do you perform water changes? Now that you've got a clam, maintaining calcium and alkalinity levels is also important.
  18. Nice compact setup... a good start! Are your tank dimensions 24" x12" x 12"? If so, your tank is shallow (& narrow) enough where 3 x T5s would suffice for most intents and purposes... any more and it would be wasted light/energy. If you plan on keeping sps in the future, think about adding a sump and upgrading your skimmer as well. You will also need to improve the circulation (i.e. flow rate). IMO, a refugium would be beneficial too. For the T5s, if you do eventually decide to go with 3 tubes, I recommend 2x Aquablue Special and 1x Blueplus. DIY is one option. Alternatively, you may want to consider the ATI Powerlux triple-light fixture - simply plug'n play. You may find that the savings you get from DIY are not that substantial. Currently, what else are you doing to care for your clam and corals? Dan
  19. SPS = Small Polyp Stony corals... like the ones you see in this forum You might want to do a search (i.e. Google) first next time.
  20. Nice... look forward to seeing more pics! Don't think your camera is doing your reef justice. Keep up the good work!
  21. nice colour... your acros look happy!
