AP, over time, zoos will spread and usually win in the battle with sps. That said, there no harm if you were to keep a few of your fav zoos on the sandbed. Just need to make sure they don't get the opportunity to attach and spread to other LR. Your reef is coming along very nicely and now with your new lights... LFS beware! Does your MH provide enough coverage for your tank or do you plan on getting another set? Or supplement with T5s perhaps?

If your tank is 18 inches wide (front to back), then 6 tubes would be ideal... for coverage and intensity. In addition, as Wedgee put it, good reflectors are equally important.

Is the rack/track affixed to a false ceiling or solid concrete ceiling?

No complaints from my sps. Once I attach the colonies/specimens, I usually leave them alone... it's best not to continually relocate them. My hand is usually in the tank for other reasons... to increase water flow/circulation for example.
