  1. ATI bulbs are tried, tested and proven. I've been using 8x 54w ATI T5s for almost 18 months and they are still going strong. Importantly, my SPS colours are still holding well. I also have another 6x 24w ATI T5s that I have been using for over 2 years and so far so good. SPS and LPS are doing fine.
  2. If you see irregular white/bald patches on branches and/or the base, and it happened overnight, it is very possible that the crabs are the culprit. I am assuming your water parameters are fine.
  3. Some crabs discover a taste for sps corallites that they crush with their pincers (and eat?). Have you noticed any bald areas on the branches of your staghorns? This can happen overnight. If unidentifiable, then best to assume it's a nuisance crab. How you dispose of it is entirely up to you...
  4. Do I win too? But seriously, I think you would be happier with a 3ft deep (wide) tank in the long run. Who's your tank maker?
  5. Alfa, that's a gorgeous table! Careful about the milli on the top right though. You may need to frag/move some of your other corals to allow this awesome specimen to grow out more.
  6. My suggestion would be to position your external overflow boxes on the sides and not at the rear where you can't reach. You would just need to give up some cabinet space. And the overflow only needs to be 6" to minimise intrusion into your cabinet. Not necessary for it to be 8". Your tank-sofa area remains unchanged. Plus you end up with a tank that's 38" wide (front to back)!
  7. My thoughts exactly. Vincent, how?
  8. I still think you should reconsider... IMO, it's worth sacrificing some cabinet space for the external overflow to have a wider tank. Besides, in your original plan, your overflow is at the rear. How will you ever reach into overflow compartment for whatever reason as the tank is up against the wall with cabinets on both sides?
  9. Does the 30" width include the overflow section? Good point brought up by Simon. Besides, a wider (front to back) tank would be more visually appealling IMO. More space for your corals to grow out too. An external overflow box would be ideal, one on each side (since you have the space). Alternatively, you could create one in the centre, but that would be internal.
  10. Vincent, wowww... very nice, I am following this thread with great interest! From the mock-up pic, it actually looks like you have a dedicated tank room! I know you said that it's not but have you considered using the room to house the tank and all your equipment?
  11. Kent, Salifert and Korallin. I am now using Kent.
  12. I've been dosing AA for the past 3 years. In my 10g, then the 30g and now my 110g. I've tried/used three different brands and all seem to do the trick. I follow the recommended dosage. As Bob (Aged Salt) mentioned, the positive results would be more noticeable in low nutrient tanks. I have noticed improved colouration. I once stopped dosing AA for a month, holding everything else constant. The colours faded somewhat, i.e. not as intense, especially the pinks. I resumed dosing and within 2 - 3 weeks, the colours returned to 'normal'.

  15. Bob, welcome to SRC. We fully appreciate your views and look forward to more contributions from you here at SRC. I have no doubt that 'Keigo' is a member in good standing at ZEOvit.com, courteous, helpful and constructive. Unfortunately, the same does not always hold true with 'Keigo' here at SRC. While we all acknowledge that no one is perfect, this thread initiated by 'Keigo' appears to have triggered a release of pent up frustration and unhappiness with a fellow reefer here. This has built up over time and as patient as most reefers are (you have to be, to be in this hobby), it seems that the patience of some may have run thin resulting in venting you see here in this "Kopi-Tiam" thread. If one has the time to search and sift through all posts made by Keigo here at SRC, one would probably not draw the same conclusion that you have drawn based on your experience at ZEOvit.com. There is a history and this thread is only the tip of the iceberg. It is not just an issue of a photoshopped picture or wrong choice of words, the issue, as you may be aware, goes much deeper than that. SRC would welcome with open arms the "Keigo" you describe. Dan
  16. Oic, thanks for clarifying. Now I remember. I read somewhere that it's a BB tank.
  17. To be frank, this top view picture taken 'w/out lighting', as defined by the starter of this thread, is actually quite 'natural' looking colour wise except for a few corals that look a little bleached. The other photoshopped(?) picture is another matter altogether. Question I have is, what is that on the sand bed? Could it be diatoms or cyano?
  18. Stumbled on this at RC, not directly related to this thread but there's an interesting discussion on the subject of coral colour enhancement. http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthre...25&pagenumber=1
  19. Thanks Wei Leong, sounds like mine's due for a top up very soon. It's almost 18 months. I had it serviced/cleaned after a year but no top-up. You may have mentiond this earlier but is yours a 1/3hp chiller?
  20. How long have you had the Artica chiller? Is this your first top up?
  21. huanjie, very nice shots! Thanks for sharing.
  22. ... if you did, you would be banned from diving and all reefing forums for life.
