  1. Saw some at Ah Being on Sunday. Not sure what color thou.
  2. The Salifert test kits are priced from HKD 75 north to about HKD 115. Just checked out one shop as limit time to browse the street as usual. As I don't know the different test kit prices locally, did not purchase any.
  3. That's affirmative as confirmed by my Hong Kong friend and I also sighted a seawater main inlet pipe supply to a building.
  4. Does anyone has suggestions whether LED aquarium lights and filter socks and holder are cheaper in HK? Looking for these to equip my 1.5' cube. Thanks.
  5. Mods, please help to close thread. Thanks.
  6. A big thank to sebe for the sand and rocks. Just filled up the tank nicely with slightly more than an inch of sand bed. Also many thanks to those who have offer.
  7. I think the local market is somewhat comparable to Hong Kong. The main reason, in my view, why prices are competitive in Hong Kong is due to competitions as most of the LFS are concentrated in the same area. Hence for homogenous products, pricesis the key.
  8. Btw, can saltwater fish last as long as freshwater fish when packed and transport as checked-in baggage? I had brought back 3" cichlids without casualty which are packed and released into tank for closed to 36 hours.
  9. Hi sebe, thanks for the kind offer. Afraid I can't make it for the scheduled time as I will be still at work. Do appreciate if other timings can be arranged. Cheers...
  10. Good morning, anyone has spare live/dead rocks and and sand to let go? Thanks.
  11. Hi, dropped you a PM since yesterday. Appreciate your reply. Thanks.
  12. Hi, I am looking for the above captioned to complete the tank cycling for my 1.5 feet cube tank. Anyone has some to let go please contact me. Thank you.
  13. Thanks for the info. But I remember there are only 2 shops opposite the Macdonalds restaurant and both selling freshwater aquatic plants.
  14. Going end of the month. No promises, but will pack some if chance upon cause usually don't have enough time to finish the whole Tung Choi Street. Btw, what are the RRP for the various test kits?
  15. Think fishes are cheaper. A lot of common fishes such as clowns, chromis, etc are priced at HKD10 each.
  16. The harvested seawater is all clear after running with a prizm skimmer and wavemaker for 2 weeks. Now looking for live/dead sand and rocks to complete the tank cycling. Anyone has any to let go or sale please let me know. Thanks.
  17. I have seen display saltwater aquariums using similar tank as the one you have. Only concerns might be whether the filter compartment is sufficient and high dutemperature.
  18. Yes. That will be for the initial part of it. When the local species proof to be successful, will then proceed with more hardy imported species.
  19. Thanks for your comments. Would you elaborate on this cause I don't really get it. It's still saltwater, the skimmer is operating as normal.
  20. Thanks. The test will be done on a small scale 1.5' cube tank. Probably house a locally caught livestock as discussed with another hobbyist offline.
  21. Thanks for all the advices and comments. In general, most are not supportive of introducing sea water to home aquarium for the various reasons cited. I am new to saltwater but do have a fair bit of experience in freshwater for quite a while. I have also read up on the use of natural sea water from other non local forums. I have just harvested some natural seawater from our shore and done some filtering and treatment of the sea water. Will run the treated water, with no livestock, for a period of time with filter and skimmer before doing a test to determine if the saltwater can support livestock with no detrimental effect.
  22. Hi, like to check if anyone is using natural seawater from our shore for your aquarium for top-up and if so, which are the preferred locations? Thanks.
  23. If you are doing the overflow pipe system, please take note of the pipe size as it determine the maximum flow rate of the return pump u can use.
