i used to have a FOWLR tank, until recently i got some corals from some friends and cousins. while some survive some didnt, i got a salifert nitrate test kit and found out my nitrate level is 0.5. thats is high rite ? it shouldnt go any higher than 0.1 ? then how am i suppose to measure anything lower ? i dont really understand what they say about dividing by 10 to get a more sensitive reading. can anyone here explain it to me ? thanks my ammonia level is undetectable below is the design of my sump. i didnt want to make anything permanent incase i need to do any modifications in the future and i dont have the keching as well any comments are welcome. sorry about the poor quality pic. it become like that after i change the format of the file... thanks cheers*

ok my sailfin didnt eat for the first few days too.. although mine is a cheaper speciement, if u have other large fish feeding the tang will learn to eat sooner or later .. mine took me arounf 4 days u might wanna try feeding "supermarket" seaweed, the unmarinated types... one of the bros advice me on that it works for this .. should do the same for yours i guess if there is no other fishes then i think u can try the method that the bros have given anyways good luck with the fishes

yoZ~ .. my tank doesnt have a hood ... same goes for my sump.. and the rate of my salt spray is incredibly high .. my tank is 3 feet by 1 1/2 by 1 1/2. water is filled leaving 1.5 inches from the edge of the glass.. the sump is a 2 feet tank only 1/4 filled.. my fish tank is basically sandwiched between my study table and my cupboard.. i would have to clean the surface of the cupboard everyother day.. same goes to the floor below the tank. i am basically using a caste iron stand.. i have a dymax 1200L/hr pump plance quite near the surface to create the " ripple" effect when i on the lights and for circuilation there are no splashing of water.. any ways to reduce the salt spray ? or better still eliminate the salt spray thanks

eh comfirm is lettues bro .... those i throw in are the left over ones after i made my sandwich off course no contamination from myonese or any other sause and ya its the first time i am introducing it to the sailfin .. btw red bamboo are like for display rite ? as in like for asthetic purposes .. isnt it expensive to feed them those ? talking about the "living" ones not the ones that are dried -
my sailfin have been with me for around 3 -4 months .. cant really remember. it was previously feeding on pellets and brine shrimps and today i tried feeding lettue BUT instead of it eating or trying out the lettue it started show agression at it .. the typical rise fins dancing around and stuff . any idea how to convince it to take the lettue ? the lettuce is still in the tank .. how long before i have to take it out if it doesnt eat it ? thanks
