  1. how is the temperature (10000K, 67K, 20K, ...) related to light wavelenght (440nm, 520nm,...)?
  2. ==== Deltec site for MCE600 states 400l/hr of air (http://www.theaquariumsolution.com/deltec-mce600-skimmer-turbo). Does this mean that an upgrade in pump is needed for the old MCE600? I have MCE 600 and looking to upgrade to in-sump as MCE600 footprint seems bigger than round skimmer. Technical Data for mce600 from deltec: For US 110V specifications please visit our D-D USA section of the web site •MCE600 Skimmer : Article No. 31117 •Can be hung on the outside of the aquarium or sump. •Draws its own water from the aquarium via the internal needlewheel pump. •400 litres of air/hr are produced at the venturi. Dimensions: •L 260mm W 180mm H 500mm (normal position). •H 570mm (allowing for removal of the cup). •Height above lip of aquarium - normal position 230mm. •Width of body only external to tank 85mm. •Pipes extend by 95mm from skimmer body. Stocking: •Normal Stocking 875 lts (192 UK gallons) •Heavy Stocking 563 lts (124 UK gallons)
  3. What material is being used to grow algae in the scrubber?
  4. Can you recommend a skimmer that is better than MCE600 but draw the same power as MCE600?
  5. === it is in sump, I do an actual flow measurement by timing how many seconds it fills a one liter bucket. Thanks for your offer, but I already did bacteria dosing (i think it is 8000 something from ocean ...). I still need to fine tune the durso as the water level just stay at the inlet only so there is noise. I guess the durso was designed for a higher flow rate like the one coming from eheim.
  6. Plumbing fixed and leakage test done. I initally installed eheim 1262 for return pump but it heated the water by 1-1.5C. No plan to install chiller so replaced the pump with a lower wattage aquabee up2000/l. This pump is rated 528gal/hr (2000l/hr) but I only got a flow of 264 gal/hr(1000l/hr), losing 50% to head loss, but I think should be enough for almost 5X turn over of water. Mixed salt with the water used for leakage test. Decided to cycle first since dead rocks are used for the sump.
  7. yes, you're right I am leaning more on purple tang just worried that it will outgrow the tank very fast. Should be ok with flame and flameback right?
  8. this type of anemone wont require strong light?
  9. between yellow and purple tang, which one grow slower? which one is more agressive?I tried blue tang before, grow very fast.
  10. 1+ year but pump currently reserved.
  11. I need to plan for additional fishes once my 2' cube is running. Need some recomendation for fishes that will add color to the tank but will co-exist with my current fishes. I am looking at adding midas blenny (will be ok with tail spot?) and yellow or purple tang. I may dispose my 6 line for other fish like splendid leopard wrasse or gramma loreto. this is what I have currently. Any suggestion? 1 - flameback 1 - flame angel 1 - six line 1 - tail spot blenny 2 - true percula 1 - white gobby 1 - mandarin 1 - cardinal
  12. as stated, please pm me the price, age, and collection place
  13. I got an eheim 1260 from a reefer who just decom'd last week. I want to change to a lower wattage pump for my return so selling. I bought at $110 and selling at $110 also. Collection at sembawang or MRT station from sembawang to ang mokio.
  14. thanks for prompt reply. So you are recommending up2000/l over up3000? I just tried eheim 1260 and got a very nice flow (a bit strong but ok), however the water temp rised by 1-1.5C. I dont intend to use chiller so I need to look for another lower wattage pump that will give a decent flow. Aside from aquabee, do you have other punp to recommend? It's nice to hear that it would work. As long as there is decent flow, I am ok as I will install wavemaker to add to the water movement in the main.
  15. Is aquabee 3000 enough as return pump for 2' cube tank?
  16. Finally moved. Not so much activity this weekend as no free time. Will be fixing plumbing and running leakage test.
  17. so you did not cycle anymore? just right away transferred your LR to the new tank? How about your fishes, did you also transfer right away?
  18. Oh!, that simple! - no need to rinse the sand?
  19. I decided to upgrade from my 2.5' IOS to 2' cube tank with sump for the following reasons: 1. Increase my water volume 2. Allow additional fishes 3. Better filtration I got the tank from a very kind reefer here. My first challenge! how to move my current tank so that I can move the new tank to the spot it occupies? Need suggestions. Second challenge! How can I quickly bring up the cube to operation by using the same sand and live rock from my current tank. Do I need to cycle again? Sump will have dead rock as a start? I know the sand may release some toxic once stirred so I doubt that direct transferring of live rock and sand is posible? If you are in my place, what will be your approach?
  20. will this work? will the return pump able to suck the water or it needs to be positioned above teh sump?
  21. thanks for quick reply. Is it hot to touch?
  22. Is it okay to run the return pump outside the sump? I am asking if this is posible so that the pump wont add heat to the water, specially for setup not using a chiller. Or maybe submerge the pump in a separate container of water not part of the tank water to keep the pump from getting hot.
