  1. Oh, I thought this species is reef safe... oh boy, what should I do? I can always remove them before they spread... What a waste, it's so pretty and green. What do you mean by agressive? And what kinda toxic? Will it kill fished instantly? Or just pollute my water? Thanks for your info.

  2. Hi guys

I've came across a few guys putting in as much as 2kg biohome into their filter system.

How different are they from bioballs or conventional ceramic?

Will it not fight with the LR in terms of hosting bacterias?

Will it crash the system in the long term?

For my 24g NC, how much you reckon I should add to the back compartment?

    :thanks:

  3. Yeah I even came across LFS that refused to sell me stuff after learning I own a 24g Nano Cube, lol. Boy, I was so angry at that time, so I rip the whole NC apart and build it up to specs. But sometimes, I just hope that the LFS can be a little sensitive especially to newbies :D

And I find some of them kinda stubborn also, they will only do things (and strongly suggest) you do it their way... for example, must get a 3 ft full-system tank, more light better... all goes down to $$$. Or else, they will tell you to go Freshwater instead... so frustrating sometimes, but deep down, I know they probably telling the truth.

Truth is hard to swallow most of the time  Sorry :off:

  4. Bro .. no need carry whole container home la .. juz bring 2 1.5L bottles n refil it everyday lor .. but yea .. that one more troublesome la ..

Sry bro for hijacking... Eh .. would like to ask if i can add rowasponge in the trays in my canistor filter? Or would it b more advisable for me to juz add the roawphos n rowacarbon in the bags provided n dump it into the canistor.? .. cos thinking of getting one to replace the layer of carbon (forgot the brand) i got from aquamairne. Thanks!

I believe you can add it to your canister filter. It's a sponge, but it's really thin, like less than 1". So shouldn't block the flow too much although it looks much denser than normal sponge. I have no exp with the bags version, some other bro, please advise.

  5. Bro .. first time i hav a nice look at ur sandbed... Juz wondering if u might wanna add a extra layer of grade 1 or grade 0 sand .. some suggestions .. mayb some other bro can advise on this ..

Yea .. really nice LR .. Oh yea .. bro abt the cycling thing .. i dun think it would b much of a problem cos theLR in ur tank came from another reefer n i suppose there would alrdy b a host of bacteria in there thus resulting in the faster drop of the ammonia n nitrite hike. Its always safe to wait longer.

Ok Bro, I will seriously consider adding an extra layer of sand... I need to find a way that will not mess up the tank and the filtration system too much. Yeah advice pls.

Yupe I sorta figure that out too. The matured cured LR I bought jump-started the cycle. My Ammonia and Nitrites level have been maintained at <0.25 for the last 3 days. Now just need to deal with the Nitrates. The last time I measures, it was 75. So will wait for it to drop to an acceptable range, say <20.

Will connect my chiller tonight and so a 20% water change, also to increase the Sg slightly.

Yes, I will wait a little longer and see...

  6. But one thing I can assure you is... after running the product for more than 3 days, there isn't a single fault I can find from the product. How often do you come across such product? Not very often indeed.

  7. But guys I am just reviewing this product base on my own opinion. I am no expert, so when I say "very good" may not necessarily mean that to a lot of other more experienced aquarists. Do consider 1 if you like the product but not because I "say-until-so-good".

  8. I just got my Teco RA240 today... well not very pretty I must say. I haven't connect it to the tank yet as I bought the wrong rubber tube. But I did on the machine and the noise it emits is kinda loud (for my standard). Could it be because no water? Could it be the startup which will create more noise? I really can't tell yet.

Will keep you update tomorrow night.

  9. Thanks guys! I do look forward to adding my first fish... but... well... ok... whatever...

When my tank is ready, I will add 3 small Green Chromis. What you guys think? Will they jump out of my tank like Firefish? I have good water current and I want species that will actually enjoy my artificial wave.

I will also get a Royal Gramma after that.

    Please share your thoughts :thanks:

  10. Yupe! And it will also ensure the protein skimmer working at its optimum all day long (not affected by inconsistent water level anymore). I know I've said this but... it's perfect for people who travels. You don't even have to worry about your tank drying up anymore :-)

  11. Hi Cole99! Welcome!

I am still cycling my tank btw. From what I can see from your equiment list, you desperately need a good skimmer. I think the internal juwel is fine for water circulation, surface skimming and a place to put bags of phosguard, chemipure and what not.

I'm no expert but I feel kinda sad you are wasting so much money on lifestock instead. I on the other hand, invest all my money on equipments. But I know it's very hard to resist the temptation, today at a LFS, I almost bought 3 Green Chromis out of impulse. Luckily I remember what I learned from this forum... PATIENCE... PATIENCE... PATIENCE.

Do show us a pix of your tank. I always enjoy seeing Juwel tanks btw.
