My Nitrates are quite low now (2 ppm), so no need to crack my head to add in more stuff la. Maybe I will start to do something when it goes out of hand.
Thanks bro for sharing your experience
-
Em... you decide for yourself but something that will swim in the mid lvl will make the tank more lively. Not the hiding type.

Thanks for all your help guys, the problem has been fixed (the cruel way). One of the reason I was so paranoia is becoz I heard they will release toxic when they decay, so must act fast. I think I bought an unhealthy specimen.
-
I don't think anything will happen to your chromis.
But I do think your caulerpa is dying.
I'd experienced the same thing.
It'll turn pale and soft eventually
Thanks bro
That's it the Caulerpa is going down the Chute... before it pollutes the water... beyond repair.
-
Besides pH, do you guys think I should fix anything? Everything else seems quite normal to me. Oh those Chaetomorpha and Caulerpa are really good, my Nitrates 2 days ago was around the 100 region, now down all the way to only 2!!! I did the test twice coz I can't believe my eyes
-
Hrmz, where did you get that from? HAve never seen it retailing in any LFS before....reefdepot again? haha
Yes... you got me soooo right! lol
Don't mistaken me as working for ReefDepot, but I really enjoy buying stuff from them... well, no problem so far.

Reduced photoperiod will help to keep your pH from rising further. Photosynthesis only extracts CO2 from the water and result = pH rise.
Actually my pH was 9.0 this morning... that's why I thought photosynthesis helped bring the pH down by 0.2 points.
-
So what's the chances of my pH being the main culprit causing my Caulerpa to... u know... grow SPIKES? (refer picture above).

Should try to calibrate your test pen and ensure that the batteries is not weak.
Just use your test pen on the calibration solution and you will know or else need to get another test kit to verify.
Formerly I also this problem due to weak batteries.
That test pen is quite new (2 weeks old)... don't think it's the battery. Didn't calibrate as Reborn ran out of calibration liquid, but they assured me... well.
Ok I will change 10% of water every night, reduce photosynthesis and get another test kit (liquid type).
Is there any additive out there that can do the job?

Hi bro... your tank is lovely, the only setback... well, it's your camera la. Get a better one la, it makes the tank look very cloudy and yellowish (which I don't think is the case). Just my 2 cents

Come on Tunze users!!! Let us all post our GROSS pix in this thread!!! I love it!!!

Ok I will do just that, will prolonged photosynthesis help?

Thanks for the help bro... but dunno leh, I think I need a Diploma in Science or Biology to be able to understand and put it to practice, lol.

Ok I will get a algae blenny this week. Blenny cleaning glass? Em... how is that possible lol. Yeah I am interested to visit the old man too. $5 for a piece, not bad (most importantly healthy looking).

That's why I bought a pack of Tunze gloves, 10 for $10.00. It's full length, so goes all the way to the shoulder. When it comes to reefing... safety first

Nice choice of fish... you probably need 1 or 2 fishes that will swim in the mid to top lvl all the time. Beware of "jumper" fish, you have no lid. I have none too, so planning to get one piece of acrylic if I want to keep my fishies wet (not dried). I read today, Royal Gramma is quite a jumper too.
I plan to add in shrooms too... maybe coming weekend. So do share with us your selection.

I did something awfully wrong the other day, I added 3 tiny spoons of Salifert KH+PH Buffer... well, I thought a buffer is to buff the pH at the intended values... well, how bad a situation am I in now? Do I need to do water change? I did it yesterday, 15%.

Nakazoru you are so honest and blunt but have to agree 100% with what you said. Newbies (including me) always find it hard to resist the temptation of making our tank a showpiece (especially in this forum where we can show off to all Singaporeans). I always have this urge to go down to Reborn to pick up some corals and fishes too.
Personally I think the trade here is too cheap, things have become too easy to obtain. That's where a mere $100.00 can fill the entire tank with decent looking corals + fishes. It's a catch 22 situation... but so far, I have not stock my tank coz I am too broke now... My paycheck will be in next Tues, lol.

Ewwww! That is GROSS!!! But I like it... in this hobby... we can turn horrid stuff into works of beauty... and that is a very pretty cup of err... protein, lol! (I think our body fats look like that too, lol).
Yes, I will continue the ReefPack 500 review for a couple of weeks more till it settles.

Koran Angel will stay like that even in adult form? But the circular patterns in Emperor is much much nicer. How large can Koran grow? I might be thinking about the impossibles... gonna get flame soon.
