  1. You guys know where I can find somme nice sun coral? Can't seem to come across any for the past 2 weeks
  2. Or maybe you can share with us where u usually buy your supply... obviously you are getting better deals than most of us
  3. Can I split the trunks? Refer to my original post.
  4. I am no expert but the best way to find out is to test the water parameters, mainly Ammonia, Nitrite and Nitrate. From the readings, you will be able to tell.
  5. It's fascinating how different the same hobby can be in diff countries. Yeah, I think Singapore is quite blessed in that sense. Even when it comes to imported equipments, I'm sure Singapore is cheaper than other neighbouring countries, say Malaysia. But Hong Kong is still the cheapest I believe. So the next time one sees a tank from overseas, one have to understand the restrictions the hobbyist has gone through in order to appreciate the tank to its fullest. Aust is exp but at least you get lots of freebies frags... now that is rare in Singapore! lol
  6. I'm sure the remaining one is eating behind your back... perhaps they will only eat at night, so we can't see... em... tricky little fishies but they are true beauties
  7. Here's a pix of my tank in moonlight mode. The single LED bulb provided by the Tunze Multicontroller 7095. Suppose to simulate the different phases of moonlight... err... can't tell the diff leh?!? There are so much more to learn and I am just barely scratching the surface
  8. I bought this from AM the other day and I have yet to fix it coz I am still looking for a suitable air pump and I can't find the pack of 7g Artemia Salt that was suppose to come with the product... someone must have stolen it. Are Artemias (sea monkey) a good food source for fishes and corals? That is the reason why I dare to consider Sunburst in the first place... I know they need constant feeding. Anyone with experience with this little gadget? I believe it will work coz Aqua Medic is a reliable brand... so can't wait to see tiny sea monkeys swimming around in my tank.
  9. Frontal view of my tank... any comments? I've been adding quite a bit of LS for the past couple of days... it's time I slow down a little as I can see that my equipments are already working much harder than before (especially the protein skimmer).
  10. Ah ic... well that will definitely force you guys to be a concentious hobbyist. Coz any mishaps or "crash" is gonna be a very expensive and painful experience. Sometimes, regulations are there for a reason How much are they sellling "bred in captivity" specimens? Say a percula?
  11. Here's a pix of my current setup. LS list is as my signature. I can see a difference to the DOC Protein Skimmer... it's working so much harder now. The bubbles are carrying more derritus and ewww.... so I guess it's the right decision to go for a protein skimmer much larger than the tank capacity. Well, the only setback is the removal of nutrients (I read from a lot of publications). So when I was dosing essential elements yesterday, I off the protein skimmer for more than 1 hour. I hope this will make a difference. Anyone with better solution? Ok this is going a bit
  12. Hi guys As usual, I was at the LFS and I saw this beautiful Blue Sea Fan. It's not very costly so I bought a rather large specimen. I later (last night) found out that the Blue Sea Fan is a very tricky species to keep in a reef tank. Here are some of the problems I am facing right now. 1) Low Light Due to its (large) size, I have no choice but to position it towards the upper tier, where is gets quite a lot of light (150W MH, 14000ºK). 2) Strong Water Flow Again, due to space restrictions, I can't position near my water outlet & wave maker. 3) Feeding I still have no idea what to feeds it... currently all my corals survive on photosynthesis Kindly share with me your experience with this species. I am thinking of spliting the specimen so that it's more manageable, easier to locate to a more suitable area. Whaat you guys think? It consists of two separate trunks (attached to a single piece of rock), so I guess spliting is possible. What is your view on this? If I am to let it rot in my tank, will it poison my other LS?
  13. I saw some at MarineLife last week... give them a call la!
  14. Can you explain in detail what kinda sickness? Best if you have pix... so that other newbies can also learn from your experience.
  15. Oops... my first major mistake! Oh dear... it will probably not survive in my tank for long. Can someone five me more advise on how I can feed it? Micro plankton comes in bottle? If yes, I better go get one soon.
  16. Ok I will force-feed it... just kidding. Yeah I will pay extra attention on it. How long can a LS survive without eating normally?
  17. The corals look much happier after the elements dosing... even the mushroom is at its biggest!
  18. Wow! Nice. I saw a lot of ###### Shrimp at AM just now. They are extremely tiny. Will they grow larger? Coz they do look like breakfast, yum yum.
  19. Emm... the lighting (blue & white) is not even... doesn't look natural. You wanna look for 50/50 lamps so u can get even illumination.
  20. Just Sea Fan? Ok, I will update my list of LS...
  21. A new coral... can someone help me ID it for sure? I can't really determine which species, there are a couple similar looking ones in my books. The photo was taken after 3 hours of introduction... expect all the flowers to open fully tomorrow.
  22. Wow the Zoos are spreading so quickly... it's almost touching its neighbour. To avoid conflict, I've moved the Alveopora Coral to a safer location.
  23. Delivered today... my corals are gonna love me so much!!! Gonna dose in a short while, I will off the protein skimmer for an hour or so. Hopefully the corals will show significant improvements... I have yet to see their true colours
