  1. Thanks bro for the constructive comments... I will seriously look into any sign of wear and tear especially after 2 to 3 months of running the MH. Regarding electric leak... I think this is a problem with all equipments esp those submerge in the tank... I will get a titanium electric earther soon, yeah better be careful than to be sorry. I will also look into the heat problem like introducing external ventilation which will be beneficial to my other equipments too. But I still like the sleekness of it... saw an Atman at LFS before I purchase this Solite, the Atman even cramped 2 magnetic ballasts into the fixture making it super chunky and heavy. As for DIY... hehe if those ppl is Solite can't do the job... I don't think I can do it too... Fact: I am a "dummy" when it comes to DIY... that's why I have to rely on branded products instead
  2. Yes I will do the switch later (while waiting for the delivery guy)... haven't really got a chance to admire the power of the tubes yet, tonight I will post... yes yes yes!!!
  3. Bro... u bet!!! I haven't been this excited for a very long time... sad but true ... emm... since when ah?... since I lost my virginity I think lol!!! And that was like decades ago... double lol!!! Yeah I will let u know when I am ready to get the Aquamoonlight!!! So excited@PE O RFI)! LAF +! FA SDFLJ~!!!!
  4. Tank will arrive in 2 hrs 40 mins, lol. Oh yeah, gotto go home soon... still need to move things around especially the chiller... took half day today... it's a big day for me u know As for the Aqulux bulbs... I guess they are still useable lah... not like "totally-cannot-make-it"... but I've already posted in Pasar Malam section to sell it to other bros... for a very good deal (I think)
  5. Hehe... bros... pls welcome Orcariux from Melbourne!!! I am trying to pursuade him to start a tank at home... then can visit him in Melbourne during summer and go out the beach to catch starfishies and hermits... nice Bro... it's not as hard as it seems... really... ask the other bros here Btw for u guys wondering who Miss Mo is... err... long story actually... well... whatever... it was a joke... i guess... em... err... whatever lah... dun be so "busy-body"... "can-or-not"...
  6. You better check around the "alien ground" properly... later not alien abduct, ants and croaches
  7. Yeah Wrang... it does look very promising with all the necessary features in for a reasonable price... however when it comes to lighting, reliability is very important too... so let me run it for 3 months and see if the quality will deteriorate... so if u see me getting a new German light in 3 months time, then u know... either I strike the lottery... or the Solite Type3 gave way... time will tell I think Solite is being marketed in the US under Coralife brand. So perhaps we are getting a great deal here!!! You can learn more about this lamp from our forum sponsor AquaMarine, click on one of the thread with the Solite name on. Nah... nothing compares to your solid DIY lamp... so Scandinavian in design... quite retro actually... Love it!
  8. Thanks for the recommendation. I think hanging it outside is better in case watersplashes in compartment E... current PL is way too tiny... I think around 18W (1.5ft). Will get a proper fixture since I don't have to worry about heat that much. The light escaping from this chamber can also act as night light :-) What about the Miracle Mud? Quite costly though... does it help? Or just fill the bottom of chamber E with more LR...
  9. If u guys interested in the Solite Type 3. Click the link below to my new tank thread.
  10. To 10 pieces??? Wow that's a really horrid death... could it be ur pump head or something? Eww... so gross can match a dying anemone, lol. Got pix to share? Can u also show us a close up of ur new Blue Fromia. Will be getting lots of stars for my new tank coz I love them a lot but I have no idea how to target feed them...
  11. Hehe quite interesting actually... seeing things in such a perspective... bro u better start planning for a nano soon
  12. Oh dear that's a very bad experience... and a very bad seller... u sure u dun wanna report this? Good luck and UPPPZZZ!!!
  13. Bro Hammy... all thanks to you Honestly when I was handling the light just now... I really can't tell the "made in China" feeling at all... I think this product is designed and built to target US and European market. Bro, I bought 1 Aquablue and 1 Actinic Blue... which one should go to the front of tank? I want to have more blue to the front since my entire tank is flooded with MH. What u think?
  14. Here's Plan A: 1. Adjustable overflow comb 2. Aqua Medic Turboflotor Percula protein skimmer 3. Live rock (small pieces) 4. Sponge 5. Polyfilter 6. Trickle plate 7. A thick layer (approx. 5") of Ecosystem Miracle Mud 8. Chaetomorpha 9. Vertical 2ft T5 with waterproof capping (reversal lighting for Chaeto). Compartment E is a dry compartment with opening at the bottom to reach the cabinet below. Please experience bros out there... I need guidance as this is the most crucial moment... Just a thin line between success and failure... with luck thrown in...
  15. Okay bro... I will seriously consider that
  16. My new tank will have a very high skirting around the edges... at least 80mm from water surface plus Euro bracings... yeah will prob consider an acrylic sheet or something... loosing a LS is sad... not knowing that their under your furniture is worst! I've been avoiding firefish just becoz of this reason... but never thought of Skunk Clowns being good jumpers too
  17. Hi guys... it's me again I just received my Solite Type3 MH + T5 light fixture today... as I've bought some bulbs to replace them, the original bulbs that comes with the light are literally "un-touched". Here are the specs: 1. Aqualux 150W (double-ended) @ 10000ºK 2. Aqualux 150W (double-ended) @ 10000ºK 3. Aqualux 39W T5 Actinic Blue (3 ft) 4. Aqualux 39W T5 Actinic Blue (3 ft) I am willing to let go of the 2 MH bulbs for $80.00 (non. neg). The 2 T5s will come as a free gift (whether u like it or not, lol). Rest assured that these bulbs are BRAND NEW!!! Collection at Woodlands (after office hours) or Mohamed Sultan Road (office hours) or Orchard/Somerset (weekends). Can collect tomorrow onwards. A full payment via bank/ATM transfer is required in order to make a reservation. Pics below showing the bulbs in my new light fixture before removal. The bulbs are now safely placed in DD & BLV cardboard casings.
  18. Sad news My Orange Skunk Clownfish decided to try a little bungee-jump and end up being "ikan kering" 1 1/2 metres away from the tank... so sad... this is the second case already... for those topless NC owners out there, do consider getting a lid/cover... so so sad Sorry guys... no more 50/50 Skunks to distribute
  19. So what u guys think? If you ask me... hehe... I'm a very happy man The overall build quality and design is quite up-to-expectations (for that price)... of course, I've spent another $300 changing the 4 bulbs. The original fixture comes with Aquaflux MH and T5 bulbs... will probably sell it to other reefers that need a replacement bulb or something... Verdict? I will still get myself a German made fixture... when I can afford it. Reliability and long term endurance is still what I want for my Percula 90... so yeah, once I can afford it... for now... will make the most out of this brilliantly made product
  20. After changing new bulbs: From bottom left to upper right: 1. DD - Geisemann Actinic (back of tank) 2 & 3. BLV Nepturion 150W (double-ended) 14000ºK 4. DD - Geisemann Aquablue (front of tank) The fixture comes with 2 external electronic ballasts... so take the heat away from the tank... also helps in a sleeker, lighter fixture (those 2 ballasts are heavier than LR, lol). The 2 T5s are controlled by a single power plug. So all together, 3 power plugs... perfect for individual timer control... now I can even control the 2 MH individually... cool As mentioned before... the fan is a little too audible... Special appearance (for the first time)... my Apple PowerMac G5 Duo... another powerhouse
  21. At least not the entire fixture is made in China... The wirings are quite neatly done too with cable ties here and there to keep things organized.
  22. The single large computer fan is a very nice feature... with filter some more, lol... the only set back is the sound omitted by the fan... I guess something's gotto take, something's gotto give Really appreciate the thick glass panels... the T5s get acrylic sheets instead... not bad for a China made product
  23. Yes!!! My Solite Type 3 has arrived!!! 2 x 150W MH + 2 x 39W T5 Personally, I think the light fixture is quite well built (as first glance)... let's take a closer look at it... shall we? The centre portion of the fixture (MH line) consists of slot-in/moveable pieces of anodized aluminium sheets and decently thick protective glass panels.
  24. Was too busy talking about other things... forgot to ask the LFS for AM Aquamoonlight price... Yes will get it for sure... but not this month... if u can wait, we can try to get bulk discount next month
  25. From the look of it (in terms of flip-on design and slickness) can easily match German product... IMHO.
