  1. Nope... I know I will get there eventually, hahaha. So cannot rush lah! Look at my horrible rock scaping... there's so much more to learn I think we should do more swapping and fragging... so much more fun that way
  2. It is magnificent... no doubt about it... some say... better than S_x... lol!!! I have to agree to a certain extent!
  3. Actually Rics are quite nice... perhaps I can specialize in that But they are usually very pricey right? Bro Qxn, u wanna join us? Choose a specialization, lol.
  4. Wow I didn't know ur tankset is so nice Should show more full tank shot... so what's the actual colour of the wall? Peach?
  5. So fast!!! Can put me on waiting list for 1 unit of Eheim Professional II 2028 canister filter? I can transfer full amount to your bank accound first (via ATM), then collect coming weekend. PM me
  6. I know... later, not now. I still need to wait for my new tank to stabilise... then start looking for rare frags too. Since u r specializing in rare Zoos... what other specialization I can focus on? Must be able to frag easily... and I don't enjoy Shrooms too much Then we can swap regularly
  7. Hi Nightdust... I face the similar problem as you 2 months ago (although mine's a 24g NC). Extremely hard to add in new equipments with the hood on, so I go topless. Then u can fit in all sorts of nano equipments u can find out there. Personally, I think an Aqua Medic BioStar Flotor (protein skimmer + trickle filter) will work perfectly for your tank. It's a but pricey ($300+) but u can hang it outside. Prob not behind thought as the pump that comes with it is quite large (cannot fit into ur back comparments). Go to Bro Hammy's thread (under Nano Tank section)... he is using one. But if u r NOT thinking of major upgrading: 1. Yes, husbandry is very important for a Nano, no matter how good the filtration, u r still expected to change the water (10% to 15%) every week - by far the most effective method, but can be very "leceh". 2. How long has the bioballs be inside your tank? If not long, replace them with some other medias as suggested by some bros. If long, then replace them slowly, u do not want a sudden reduction in the amount of bacterias in your tank. 3. Sponge is good to remove deritus, but u must clean it always. Trapped deritus can rot/decay to cause nutrients build-up. Some bro do without a single sponge at all! For me, I still believe in removing them on the spot using reliable sponges, instead of relying on my live rocks to remove them. But I usually clean my sponges every 4 to 5 days. 4. Test ur water every 3 days... as the water volume is so small, u will find ur parameters fluctuate all the time. Even the day/night difference can be greater than larger tanks. Sound very "leceh" right? It is... that's why I am now starting up a 3ft tank, Nano requires a lot of attention as the water volume is way too little = can get unstable easily. So husbandry must be top class. If you own a Nano, u wanna go high bio load... then u must be a diligent reefkeeper. You can go to my thread (link below) to see how I turned my Nano upside-down to achieve what I desired... and the result is very promising... Hope this helps
  8. Ok I will try that too... once my new tank is ready... really very tempted to get a nice piece of anemone...
  9. Hi Jem, agree with you... I really need to learn how to master the art of rock scaping... yeah will do some scaping tonight, a kind bro offer me some large "our-of-water" rocks. Will collect later since my tank is still cycling.
  10. Yeah collecting rare specimens are so fun and satisfying... can frag me a bit? I can swap shop something else with you... not now lah... later
  11. Too bad it is off-focus... do u feed ur LS market prawn? Can u share with me your method of introducing live food into the tank
  12. Can't get the cycle started... just hope that tomorrow Ammonia can be high enough to kick off the cycle. I think introducing so much matured cured rocks may not be a smart idea... coz they are so clean and cured. Bro Maxstar, yeah I agree that the rockscape somehow doesn't looks right... too many small rocks at the top, will scout for some larger pieces. I got 3 pieces of pretty large LR in my Nano. The Shrooms were there temporary only, already transferred back to Nano. That large colony of Shrooms were blocking me as I need to scoop out some sand from my Nano. Hehe... don't worry, I'm not that Yes, I will follow ur advice and plan for another scaping next weekend. By then, hopefully I will be able to transfer more LR from my Nano. I will transfer the LR slowly, 30% a day to minimize the impact on my Nano as I expect it to run for another 2 weeks before I transfer my LS over. Good nite guys
  13. A few caves at the bottom... once I transfer my corals over to the "mountain", all the ugly rock formation will be covered I am not very good at rockworks especially with small pieces of rocks Emm.... Ammonia = <0.25 Nitrites = <0.3... will have to wait a while longer I guess... the smell has disappeared...
  14. Your tank is looking better everyday... of course the MH helps! I really like the colours... colours... colours...
  15. Here's a closer look at my main cave... I know the rocks are a little too tighly packed (especially the top portion)... running out of large pieces... so must go look for some larger pieces already. I want to create a large overhang to create a really deep and mysterious cavern The water is still very murky (as expected)... poured in 1/3 of Nitrifying Bacteria into the tank... can detect rotting smell already Good news I guess
  16. Hehe after 2 hours of brokeback session... here's my mountain!!! The scaping is by no means final coz I still need to transfer 10+kg of LR from my Nano...
  17. I didn't feed my Sand Sifting Star... if they need to target feed... they will not be called "Sand Sifting" Star already...
  18. Bro I don't think u should start stocking so soon... if ur tank crash, something fundamentally wrong happened and if nothing's fix... it can come back again, just like human sickness... changing large volume of water is 1 method, I think there are other things u can look at... with the major water change, the biotope needs some time to readjust back to normal... so adding more bioload now doesn't seem very sensible to me... just my 2 cents ... furthermore u no need to recover from holiday meh? I am always very broke everytime I return from long holidays, lol.
  19. Errr.... I am confused here... he got Jesus and Wife lah... so he can't be gay... since when gay man can do such nice reef tank? The most is... he's "bi", lol.
  20. Done with ur water changing session? How often u change water bro? How much? I am also seriously considering using another brand for sea salt... started my Nano with Tropic Marin, then change to Aqua Medic. Then got 2 more 4kg boxes free from LFS for Perc90. The remaining box is finishing soon... what brand u suggest I go for?
  21. I currently have 2 stars... a Orange Sea Star and a Sand Sifting Star... both quite healthy (I think)... will definitely try Formia as they are so so pretty once my new tank is ready Can I have more than 1 Orange Sea Star in a 3ft tank?
  22. ic... BLOWN ROCK is very bad rock if that's the case... not doing any good to your tank... maybe just decorating it, that's all. So yes, replacing them with LR is the right decision. Get LR from bros in SRC, a lot cheaper and more matured (u might even get coralline if lucky)... Must not put into a tank with LS. Remove the LS out since it's gonna be pretty easy to catch them once ur tank is emptied. Sand wise... unless they are filthy... or else, I think they can remain in the tank untouched. Perhaps u wanna ask for some matured sand from bros too... that can help add more nitrifying bacterias into your tank. Follow my thread as I am going thru the same process now
  23. Yes... gloves and tweezers... I have 2 extra long stainless steel tweezers... muahaha Also will get ready a pair of sharp-sharp WMF scissors... if can't pull out... I will at least cut it into pieces and use Epoxy to seal the hole... (err I think a bit extreme here, lol)
  24. Hi bro... I just poured in 1/3 of the bottle, waiting for my LR today to pour in another 1/3, then the remaining 1/3 tomorrow morning... still can't tell yet, perhaps allow me another week to observe the entire process... do tune in as I post all the time
