  1. Although I introduced the 2 Cleaner Shrimps separately, 1 month apart... they quickly paired and stay together most of the time... perhaps they are bros... protecting each other from enemy, lol. The only way to confirm if they are in fact a pair is to add in more shrimps. Plan to add 2 more
  2. Here's how the bottom of the ReefPack looks like... with 2 inlets to improve circulation at the back of the rockwork. I purposely leave a big gap around this area to enable me to access it without messing with the scaping.
  3. So nice!!! Mine still no where in sight Yeah, love your purple coralline... they are everywhere!!!
  4. Transferring the Reefpack took 10 hours?!? What u guys think? What can a reefer achieve in 10 hours? Hehe...
  5. Update update!!! After 10 hours of hard labour... here's the result My Tunze Reefpack 500, successfully transferred over to Perc90... actually it is much slimmer than expected, leaving much room in front for scaping.
  6. Aiyo bro... u should make sure your salinity in the tank is right before adding the LR... now your LR may already be Dead Rock... hopefully your salinity is not too far from 1.020 - 1.025 range. There's no way our tongue can tell... lol How long were the LR been exposed to air from the bro's tank to yours? You use freshwater to wash and scrub LR? You can already start testing other parameters, mainly pH and A N N every 3 days. Don't wait one month then only test, lol.
  7. Thanks bro soon for the real-life experience, I will use my finger to dig the sand before placing the LR on the spot, don't have some extra large pieces of LR anyway... so should be ok. I'm sure it will dig itself out too... just like my amazing Sand Sifting Sand
  8. From my experience (quite limited actually) with my new tank: Before I start to confuse others, just note that I started my tank more than a week ago, new tank, introduced 20kg of LR from another reefer's tank plus some LR transferred from my existing tank. Also, note that I quickly transfer the LR from his tank to mine within a time frame of 45min. If the LR are already out of water (without proper care) when you collect it, you can regard them as DEAD ROCK already. 1. If you are adding sand from another tank and LR from another reefer's tank, the ANN cycle may not be as straight-forward as planned... ur A -> N -> N. You may even find that an Ammonia spike never happens at all. The conventional ANN cycle (with recommended time frame) is only for new setups with uncured rocks and new sand bed. So do not get crazy over your water condition if there isn't a single trace of Ammonia after running the tank for a while. 2. Now, it really depends on which method you want to follow. For me, since I refuse to throw in a market prawn to rot in my new tank, I follow the advice of an author instead. The book offers great explainations on setup with matured (cured) LR and sand (similar with yours). According to the author, ANN may or may not happen. And any form of disastrous spikes are to be seen as a negative factor to the cured LR inside our tank. BACTERIAS already populated most of the LR you introduced into the tank, so the objective here is to maintain them and create a suitable environment for them to multiply quickly. In order to achieve optimum water quality (even from the start), the author suggested the following: • Skim, skim, skim. Do not let anything rot in the tank, not needed. Why wipe out all the organisms that comes with the mature LR and start all over again? • Test, test, test. Make sure all major parameters are up to acceptable range. Test every 2 to 3 days. • Lights are optional, recommended if your Phosphate is under control (so no major algae bloom). Must have at least 3 to 4 hours of low light (no need MH) to allow for the encrusted coralline to continue growing... that is if the LR comes with it. • Add some Nitrifying bacteria (tablets or solutions) to speed up the process, especially if you do not have any old media, sponge, etc. to be transferred from an established tank. 3. I also confirmed this with 2 other LFS. Both of them agree that artificially creating Ammonia spike by throwing-in-a-market-prawn-to-rot method is only for new setup with uncured rocks... even then they feel that it is unnessary as there will be plenty of rotting in the uncured rocks. The question is, why create a disaster in the tank? It doesn't happen in nature I think a lot of us follow the ANN like a text book and taking too much emphasis on the results, so suddenly having high Ammonia is something to brag about during the cycle... lol. I was one of the confused soul... before I decided to listen to an author instead... and just stick to one... coz different authors have different methods... 4. I respect your patience regarding waiting time for the cycling... great! Do stick to that if you can resist the temptation... one thing everybody agree upon is, there's no such thing as too much cycling time. Just another approach I guess... hope will not change your plan too much. If you ever wonder the title of the book... Reef Invertebrates: An Essential Guide to Selection, Care and Compatibilty - S$79.00 By Anthony Calfo, Robert Fenner Bought from Reefdepot.com.sg All the best to your new tank
  9. Thanks Colin for the tips on wrasses... yeah perhaps I will just leave it in hiding (if it pleases the fish)... a silly question... if I do major rockscaping, what are the chances of it being buried and stucked by the LR above?
  10. Nice! Yours not hiding coz ur tank is BB right? Mine buried right after release and have not seen it for the whole night now...
  11. Last pix of the night... this specimen is "so-so" ready for fragging. Since it is not attached to a rock base, I will try to separate them into smaller colonies. Currently too much competition between individual polyps. Will transfer my Green Mushroom tomorrow
  12. Bros I've decided to start transferring some corals over to my new tank tonight (bit by bit). The water parameters are at acceptable levels for the past 3 days. I think it's better to introduce 1 coral a day (hardy ones like Mushrooms and Zoos) into the new tank to slowly add bioload. If not, this weekend will be very major increase in bioload. Just transferred my Orange Zoos over. Starting to open already... (good sign I guess). Here's a pix under Atinic T5... wow! I've never seen the true colours of this specimen under my single 14000ºK MH. Boy... what have I been missing...
  13. Err... don't scare me leh... this Leopard Wrasse is the most expensive LS in my entire tank!!! My Chromis being the cheapest of course
  14. Bro I have not decided yet... coz I really like the specimen... very active and healthy looking. It's slightly longer than 2". Will decide tomorrow. If wanna let go, will PM you. Oh and sorry to hear about your lose... $30+ gone
  15. So... prob I gotto let go of my Six Line already Other bros? What's your opinion on this? Since I need to transfer the LS over... perhaps an adoption thread under the Pasar Malam.
  16. You put in LR already? From LFS or other reefers? What about water parameters, mainly A N N? I saw you browsing my thread all the time... hehe let's both create something real stunning!!! Why don't you start a thread under the member's section, so that we can all follow ur progress. Easier to get help too.
  17. Err... I have a Six Line in there... but the Leopard is so much larger than the Six Line... u think they will still kill each other? Anyway will move them to a much larger tank 3 days from now, so plenty of room for them to avoid each other
  18. Yeah according to Liveaquaria can train to eat mysis and brine shrimp... of course can also clear all the worms in my tank
  19. Bro Golfmac, since no confirmation from your side, I will back out from SKimz Fluidizer Reactor with pump (remove unwanted algae) with ROWA (Original S$150.00, NOW S$80.00) Sorry, good luck and UPPZPZP!!!
  20. Yeah I will wait and see... 3 more days from the "big day"!!! Need a better strategy to minimize impact. Will hook up the chiller first to sync the temp for both tank...
  21. I read that they are quite hard to keep right? I saw some really red ones... pretty but don't dare to try
