  1. That is what I'm planning to do actually... 2" of Grade 2 to 3 sand... then get 1 bag of Live Aragonite and sprinkle on top... just a thin layer to "seed" them... you think 1 bag is enough to cover a thin layer based on a 4' by 3' footprint?
  2. Emm... $2000 for a skimmer not running Red Dragon pump? Not very attractive leh... I think the Mini-BK200 shouldn't be priced more than $1650... Nah... enough of FIRST IN SINGAPORE already... no fun one... when got question... there's no one there to help... not even the guy who helped bring in the product
  3. That's an extremely good bargain and the tank looks so damn new!!! Definitely costs 5 times more if fabricate an exact piece... all the best to your sales bro
  4. Haha... lucky you clarify... I thought you so vain leh... cover here cover there some more How do you find the Live Aragonite (from AM)? Huge investment leh... I am still considering whether to use or not as I probably need 5 to 6 bags That's $300 go to the floor bed
  5. Bro Lyz77 kept me informed of the progress at least 3 times via sms that day and we were both surprised by the fact that there isn't any visible skimmate I guess taking a couple of hours to kick-in is kinda acceptable... so we waited for the next day Will continue this review tomorrow... stay tuned
  6. After I took the previous shot... I put back the collection cup and moved the skimmer so that it doesn't take up too much of bro Lyz77's sump space... before I left his place... I managed to capture his cute little BT... sleeping
  7. The so-called "ice cream" effect... not too bad for an initial start up...
  8. Bubbles forcing through the perforated plate... honestly both of us expect the bubbles to be more abundant... but again... what to expect from a 11W pump? Let's observe a little longer before jumping into conclusions... (Note: To really appreciate the 11W power consumption, it is nice to know that this skimmer will only costs me $1.50/month to run)
  9. We have elevated the skimmer by a few centimetres using a big piece of thick black sponge as the water in the sump tank is too high. Best kept betwee 20 to 25cm from floor up. We initially switched on the skimmer (without the sponge) and the pump rattles loudly as the sump water exceeds the mouth of the water outlet (the grey PVC part).
  10. Ok... here are the long-awaited updates... have to rewind back to last Sunday morning... Here's how my Baby looks like inside bro Lyz77's sump tank To better test my Baby, bro Lyz77 sacrificed by disconnecting his existing protein skimmer
  11. Refugium can be very interesting also... and a good place to cultivate lots of foodsource for your LS... but you do need a relatively large Refugium to be able to the job effectively, those small chamber with a few colonies of macroalgaes will not do the job... say for a 200 gallons main tank. That's one of the draw back... precious cabinet space.
  12. So they are using their own WHITE LINE pumps... emm... then it might loose some of its advantages over others... coz I still believe that Red Dragon is the "miracle" element that made Bubble King one of the best protein skimmers in the world... without RD... I'm not too sure anymore But again, if the price justified for the switch... then perhaps I can give it a try. I am keen bro Acidjazz, can kindly let me know how much roughly does a Mini-BK 200 costs? Are they available now already?
  13. My speculation... someone just posted a link to a new product review at Zeovit.com... I think some parts of the skimmer is red in colour
  14. For a successful setup it will be good to run both as one balances the other in one way or another... you can do some reading at Deltec's website. I learned the difference between the two from their site when I first started (and confused)
  15. Very impressive bro Acidjazz... the design and the product promise looks extremely convincing... the best so far in a protein skimmer of this capacity... definitely for my next next tank You suppose that's a Red Dragon pump? If yes, then expect to pay close to $1800 for the smallest model (400 liter). Coz the pump itself already costs that much Wow... really knocks me off my seat looking at it... I love it!!!
  16. Bro... I didn't help you choose your dream skimmer hor... I just help identify the restrictions on your previous selection... so don't blame me if your new skimmer not up to your "high" expectations hor... you know lah... it can be very hard to impress a reefer that owned Beckett before But if you decide to sell your new skimmer... let me know lah... I make sure I have enough space in my sump to run dual skimmers
  17. Repeating the same message extracted from Deltec's website: If anyone has a pinwheel impellor that has become damaged due to them standing on it or to long term wear from grit in the pump then we will provide them with a replacement at a reduced price on an exchange basis. From the statement above... it shows that the Deltec Pinwheel is indeed NOT invincible... it will break due to reefers unproper handling (most of the time). In my previous statement: As for the ATI Thread Wheel... I am not denying the maintenance/replacement part... but the chances of a reefer accidentally damaged/break the "wire mesh" is pretty remote... I got a feeling the impeller will not be affected if a reefer is to accidentally drop the impeller or step on it... unlike Needle Wheel (as suggested by Deltec). So there I made it clear that based on my observation of the "wire mesh" construction of the ATI Threadwheel... it is not made of a molded plastic material therefore will not break due to the brittleness of the material. I also believe that the "wire mesh" will not break if a reefer is to accidentally step on it as it is just a pile of "wire mesh"... probably if the weight is too much, it may break the entire impeller, but not specifically on the "wire mesh". For Deltec to mention "due to them stepping on it" in their website shows that it happens (if not in multiple cases in Deltec's history. I think I am clear enough and I don't think I am making any wrong/unfair remarks to Deltec. As I have continuously mentioned... due to accidents normally caused by reefers themselves... you can say what you want bro Loster, but I believe I've made my claim clear and justified.
  18. Haha... don't be like that lah... so fast predicting my next next tank...
  19. His cabinet can't fit the 851 (unfortunately) or else it will be perfect for his setup. I guess APF600 is not bad at all... considering what you are running now
  20. From what I heard... a LFS advice me not to jump into it right now as there will be a lot of LFS (all sorts of means) bringing in the Nanos for the initial batch and "price war" is somehow expected... that's why I chose not to order but wait and see :-)
  21. That's what I was looking at just now... well... sufficient but not entirely ideal... again it depends on your stocking/feeding habit... if you do not intend to overstock your tank... then I think this is a good sub $1000 skimmer that will do the job many times better than your existing protein skimmer I think I saw 1 piece of this at a LFS the other day. If you want, I can get good price for you... but or I do is to refer you to the LFS (one of the sponsor here)... just PM me if you are interested
  22. They don't call it ANN cycle for nothing... hahaha... actually the process you are going through is called Live Rock Curing... and it is a horrible thing to do... for my new tank, I will cure it at the LFS curing tank... then bring home
  23. Oh your cabinet is too low for the Deltec... you will either can't or have great difficulty removing the collection cup for cleaning Hahaha.... I think that claim is a little too strong and way too controversial... all I can say is... the Bubble Master is a much more powerful skimmer compared to the Deltec 851... easily twice the capacity But probably overkill for your tank as your tank is approx. 550 litres You may consider Deltec 600 (height only 600mm) but I got a feeling it may not be powerful enough for your tank capacity
  24. Ok guys... I've decided not to create a thematic tank... it sounds interesting but will pose too much of restrictions to the hobby... can even make it kinda boring after a while... another reason is... I want to keep most of my LS and a Carribean or a Great Barrier Reef setup doesn't allow it... so will keep the idea for my future setup then
  25. You may want to activate your skimmer (expect to clear collection cup within hours) and increase flow in the main tank (throw in whatever pump you can find)
