  1. Oh I can see that your air intake chamber is stuffed with an air flow meter and cotton floss... in www.riffaquaristikforum.de, some Germans lessen the amount of cotton floss to further increase air flow... perhaps you wanna try that out As there are reports that the current air flow meter has a tendency to get rusty (parts of it) after a while... perhaps you only put it in when you need to check the air suction of the 1262, that way you can prolong the life span of the air flow meter
  2. Emm... I already booked bro Colinsoon for a MCE600 DIY coz I can see more improvements to be made on that skimmer... but since the Bubble Master is pretty similar to Bubble King in terms of body concept... then there isn't much room for improvements (unless you can find a way to improvise the Bubble King too) Furthermore I can foresee a very expensive DIY project as there are a lot of circular/cylindrical parts that require molding/forming... you go ahead But it will probably be more meaningful to apply the Threadwheel to other skimmer bodies to test out the differences if you are interested in that area
  3. Similar to yours Oh I can't wait to fire it up actually... you have any pix to help ease my pain?
  4. Seriously bro... it's not too bad lah... for $898 (promo price) I think the BM 250 is already delivering what other's cant. Take my baby Deltec MCE600 Hang-on for example, a new unit + media box already cost $800+!!! The Aquabee 2000 only produces 300 ltrs of air per hour (according to Deltec). The Bubble Master 250 can produce 2000 ltrs of air per hour (if not more)... that's 7 times more than my MCE600. So if a reefer is to own a 6 footer (like yours) looking for a protein skimmer that will not consume more than $10/month of electricity (most probably needlewheel)... made in Germany (both pump and body)... below $1K... there isn't much choice out there... really. I'm sure ATI will continue to develop the product since it is holding the patent for the Threadwheel... maintaining a patent is damn expensive... so I'm sure they will make the best out of it! Furthermore, AquaMarin is giving a 1-year warranty against manufacturing defects... so no worries for me
  5. Really? Since when Banner fish became so exp? The last time I saw them... they were around $8 a piece... of course it depends on where they came from
  6. Yeah... it's really not worth it... Banner killing PBT... I guess I will be extremely careful buying new fishes for my new tank... perhaps set up a Q tank so that I don't have unnecessary losses
  7. How old is your tank again? Emm... were those Banners eating before they up lorry? Coz I'm planning to get 1 too
  8. I do use Epoxy for certain corals... but this piece of Gonio was very stable sitting on the LR... never expect the Reef Hermit to be so strong... well... all these will be over soon as I MUST transfer my corals over as I will move the chiller to the new tank No chiller = no corals
  9. Any update bro? How are your new fishes doing in your tank?
  10. AquaMarin finally announced their SPECIAL LAUNCH PRICE... man I must say it is VERY SPECIAL!!! http://www.sgreefclub.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=51825 Glad to know that all units come with 1-year warranty against manufacturing defects and assurance that all product services will be supported Since it is being announced, we can now have an even more realistic product review as the selling price is no more a mystery
  11. You wanna try the chopped version? Aquapharm Veggies is quite economical for small fishes with small appetite
  12. Here's the pix!!! The entire Gonio branch dropped to the sand bed... luckily missed my T. Croceas Culprit caught in action!!! I will keep the Reef Hermit in this tank since it will be converted into FOWLR very soon... new tank will arrive this Saturday
  13. Saw yours at AM... you will be the first... I will follow next
  14. Don't worry bro... life's hard at your stage with so much changes in life... everything come and go so rapidly... but once you get older... you will kinda miss the younger days... like my life now is so so stable, predictable and boring... if not reefing... I'll probably rot at home So enjoy it while you are young! Talking about "come and go"... someone in the tank must go soon... made me very angry last night before I sleep... very very angry Luckily got photo caught in the act... will update you guys tonight Every reefers nightmare
  15. Thanks bro... You know what? I always have this idea... if I'm a triad boss (possibly HK lah)... I'll have a tank full of Black Tips... and occasionally ordered my babes to struggle inside
  16. Just don't stress it too much by moving it here and there... leave it there... and with the right condition... it will recover All the best to you bro Another "coral doctor" in the making
  17. Yeah... actually paiseh leh... I shouldn't have said bro Acidjazz's product review boring... sorry... too used to doing my own product reviews... sorta treated this as one of my own
  18. Emm... you got very sharps eye bro Acidjazz... didn't notice the neck is in fact taller than your BM... now which is new which is old? I think ATI needs to put a model no (with version ID) on each units since the product is being developed so rapidly. Having a slightly taller neck may not be a bad thing (IMO). Remember, ATI upgraded its air per hour output from 2000 ltrs (1260) to 3000 ltrs (1262). Theoratically, the body of the skimmer should changed accordingly to cope with the huge increase in bubble formation. Possibly, the taller neck is a result of that upgrading - just my speculation of course... now where's Oliver when we needed him most I will be dropping by AM this evening to settle some bills (yes, the tank is almost ready for delivery)... will do a quick measurement and update you again tonight. Meanwhile, do measure the height of your neck (from the base of the collection cup) so that we can compare tonight I hope more guys will get their hands on a BM soon... this product review is getting very boring with just 2 of us chatting
  19. Err... I didn't notice that in my skimmer as I always "off" them during coral feeding
  20. My Tunzes?!? Well my Tunze only managed to mince a RBTA and a Sand Sifting Star so far... other than that can't really see coz THEY WILL BE FISH FOOD long before I can find them... that's why sometimes we get fishes MIA? Seriously, it is a problem for small tanks with small fishes... I'm trying to tackle the problem as the idea of some expensive/rare specimens becoming fish food scares me so
  21. My previous post meant... the MCE600 pump is almost impossible to remove from the chamber. I think your version is good in terms of accessibility. Why MCE? Well... I like the concept and also the straight pieces of acrylics. Don't think I can bend acrylics atm or do some mould or protrusion to achieve a circular chamber. Although they sell acrylic tubes, but there will be a lot more circular components involved. I think it can be a very interesting DIY project ICU? Err... don't tell me your clone is up lorry already
  22. I've checked with AM, my BM 250 comes with the Eheim 1262. Emm... from your previous statements... it seems that you are trying to find concrete evidence to proof the ATI BM is not up to standard I'm sure I misread it... but again, I hope you will not compare this with a Bubble King
  23. Probably should off 1 of them... waste energy... here's my last pix of the day... sleepy time for my Spotted Mandarin and my T.Gigas
  24. I shouldn't be asking you all these questions... damn I do have a unit... dry up there on a display shelf Come on... I can't wait no more
