  1. Bro Dominik I will not be able to pass you my hinges as a reefer offered me a used bottle of Omega 99, to be applied to my existing hinges to stop them from rusting. If you want, I can pass you some Omega 99 the next time we meet
  2. Oh dear... I moved my ATI Powermodul up and down almost everyday... no shock leh... must learn from you how to do the grounding already
  3. But in 3 weeks time... Singapore will be the center of the world... anything happen here is as good as New York, London or Paris
  4. Very true bro... that's why I am turning my house tank to FOWLR, or else the 2 reef tanks will suck me dry Already calculated, a FOWLR tank will require half the amount of equipments, half the amount of additives and ultimately half the amount of energy consumption
  5. Haha... can also keep my SixLine there? Bro RedDevil, why not turn it into a full scale refugium with deep sand bed? I know there are pros and cons... but if you know what'st the right components... it will work well... normal sand for example is a no-no
  6. Spoken to bro Chrislzh... too bad he can't possible fit the BM into his sump... just 0.5cm short Yes HnS has a smaller footprint and do consider that as an alternative... all the best to you bro
  7. Emm... forget it then... but once a fixture/equipment reaches certain wattage (say 500W), it's good to look at the safety aspect of it. That's just my opinion btw... well... on the other hand... if the German can use it... I don't see why we can't
  8. Is there a way we can "earth" it? Like bring it to a certified electrician? Coz I am beginning to get a bit concerned... just a bit
  9. Nope... no intricate hidden parts... but got a feeling it might cost quite a bit getting all the acrylic properly formed up as they are all circular!!! I can let you take a look lah... but must do it tactfully also as we shouldn't jeopardize the good LFS that brings in the ATI Bubble Master... and since this is a new product, I suggest you wait for a while before you jump into spending $300 on a clone (excl. pump). I still don't think acrylics are "cheap" in Singapore. Come to think of it... why not clone a Bubble King? Now that is worth cloning...
  10. Probably in a week or so... depending on how fast the sump can be delivered... yeah you can take a look at it... but you aren't gonna build a clone... are you?
  11. There was a bomb/explosion incident last Sunday right? It happened behind my condo... Woodlands area, near a Esso station... near American School also. Now some speculation that they intended to bomb the Esso station... omg Of course... all these are speculation lah... if it is true... it will rip the nation apart
  12. Err... like that also can? Ok lah... if the remote-controlled submarine costs less than SGD 5.00, I buy for you as your birthday present lah
  13. I have this problem for a very long time already coz nothing escapes Aquatronica... it's scary to see the fluctuations in the graph... but I can't seem to get it to stabilize... my kH has been pretty stable lately but the fluctuation persists... will share with you guys my latest graph tonight. Building a large enough Refugium is a good method... large enough hor, not a small compartment in the sump filled with Chaeto Bro RedDevil, you running a large refugium behind your sump right? Mind showing us a pix? Now how come you still have pH fluctuation problem?
  14. Hey that's a very cool idea bro!!! Imagine attaching a tiny recording video camera on the submarine... wow!!! I think I will invest in one once the setup is ready (and budget not too forbiding) Then I can bring the submarine to every reefer's home and start exploring their tank "scuba diving" style
  15. You may want to consider changing the German Plug to a 3-pin. As the total power is almost 400W, it's safer to have grounding... if you are not a DIY master, get help lah... but don't look at me hor... I'm a DIY dummy... upfront
  16. But have you "fire" it up? If not, then you may wanna consider selling it at the Pasar Malam as brand new set or return it to the LFS in exchange for something that suits your current setup. IF you have already "fired" it... then no harm put it on and see how's the effect... Black Galaxy is a nice looking fixture Just a reminder... although T5 comes with lots of benefits and able to solve some of MH's major weaknesses... you WILL NOT get any shimmering effect... the tank will look "still" like a picture (or a plasma screen). I miss the shimmering effect (as I started with MH) but the same effect made me dizzy if I stare at it for too long and my camera takes lousy shots under MH, the shimmering effect affects the auto-focus and the auto exposure functions.
  17. Anytime bro, yes need to make an appointment via my Secretary Just PM me lah, prefer after office hours and Saturdays (3pm to 6pm). Don't have to wait for the party... anytime bro
  18. No lah the refugium will not take a lot of "fire power"... just sufficient to grow some macro algae... fluctuation between 7.7 to 8.3 daily (for example) is considered quite damaging to the LS... mine is at a worrying level too But of course a lot of reefers don't really "stress" on this daily fluctuation thingy
  19. Emm... sounds logical Why not throw in a battery-operated scuba diver toy... let it swim inside your tank... chasing the Chromis... forcing them to school
  20. I hope it will work well... I have so much ideas to apply to this tank... Found a very cool looking DI water filter today... love it very much! Will get Steve to bring over a set ASAP for immediate installation
  21. I recently heard from BBC scientists found that part of the damaged ozone layer (in arctic, I think) is recovering due to the reduction in CFC emission by earthlings... so the future may not be as bad as you think... If it really happens... I think we need to worry more about our livelihood than some coral reefs... the problem will get much much closer at home. It will affect us all in our daily lives
  22. The problem is very hard to fix (for some tanks)... proper cycling and maturing will definitely help... to be honest, my current tank is facing quite a fluctuation also... that's why I don't dare to introduce sensitive fishes and SPS, surely "cannot make it". Having a large enough refugium with alternate lighting period can close the gap. That is what I will be doing for my new project, Phase II.
  23. No... fix the pH problem first... fish/coral replacement is a very expensive way of maintaining the hobby
  24. Unfortunately (or rather fortunately) no! It will be automated
