  1. I got a feeling those machines are either parallel imported or through illegal avenues... probably from "house break-in" or pawn shops. I dun think the hi-fi come from Malaysia as bringing them over to thru custom is not entirely easy. Well... there are all sorts of people in this world... remember those little girls in Orchard... "sir, are you a Singaporean?'
  2. Err.... YES and NO... but for my case... YES!!!
  3. Well... it's hard to determine tha actual figure as I recycled some of the old equipments from my home tank... just a feel: 1) Arctica 1/3hp Titanium chiller - $2000+ 2) ATI Powermodul Dimmable 10 x 54W - $2000+ 3) Aquatronica Aquarium Controller - $2000+ Hehe
  4. I learned from some reefers that not all Xenia pumps... here's mine... but in order to see it pump... gotto deactivate my Tunzes

  11. Hi all reefers As you all know... I will be transfering most of my corals to my office tank within the next 2 weeks... so will try to LET GO some of the corals to free up room for SPS Here's the RULES & REGULATIONS: 1) I will only accept OFFERS via PM 2) I will only REPLY to successful or high potential reefers (sorry in advance as I expect to receive a lot of PMs) 3) All corals MUST be COLLECTED before end of October 4) Collection at Woodlands Ave 2 5) DO NOT ask me about corals not listed under this thread Actually, I prefer to sell the corals as a package (so that I don't have to deal with so many reefers). Do offer me a package if you have in mind more than 1 corals... I am willing to accept bundle price as it is more convenient for me. And most importantly, you don't have to worry about the quality of my corals... they are stable, well-pampered and of good quality as I am very choosey when it comes to LFS shopping. So let the fun begins... Je®vis
  12. Just want to clarify... the all-in-one screen was shown on my laptop... not on the Control Unit... the Control Unit doesn't come with colour LCD screen
  13. Try not to do MAJOR water change... it will put unnecessary stress to your LS and your back (and pocket).
  14. Firstly a 50% water change is too great a volume regardless whether you go for salt mix or NSW... try 25% a week for 2 weeks. Again, regardless of salt mix or NSW, you should rely on a good protein skimmer... and yes... it saves the day
  15. Seems quite alright to me actually... just want to highlight the following: 1) pH fluctuates within the day (mostly affected by photosynthesis/lighting)... the challenge is to keep the fluctuation gap as small as possible. A difference of 0.4 within a day (example: 7.9 to 8.3) is acceptable. 2) Salinity can raise to 1.023. As the acceptable range is 1.021 to 1.025... maintaining it at the 1.023 will offer your tank more room for unexpected fluctuations... mostly due to evaporation or human error. 3) Try to bring your P04 to undetectable level... possible with the help of an efficient protein skimmer, careful feeding, use of PO4 removal media such as Aquapharm SORB4 & RowaPhos. Je®vis
  16. Agree, try not to move the chiller too far away from the tank. A more powerful pump is needed and that comes with higher price and power consumption... and most crucially the larger pump will release more heat back into the system. Remember, hot air rises... Je®vis
  17. Yes upgrading to a more efficient skimmer (overpower by 1 model if can afford) is definitely a long term solution to your NO problem. Why would you want to dispose all the bioballs that already contain so much aerobic bacterias on it? Just make sure no wastes/food/macroalgaes come in contact with the bioballs... make sure your filter floss works well. Remember, the bioballs help to convert much more harmful Ammonia to Nitrite, Nitrite to Nitrate. A sudden removal of a large amount of Aerobic bacterias MAY create a sudden spike in Ammonia. If you are determined to remove the bioballs, try to remove them in phases... perhaps 25% every 3 days. If I were you, I will just upgrade the skimmer for the time being. Hope this helps Je®vis
  18. Bro Hammy, Cheng asked about BM and Deltec only... let's not confuse him further with BK To simplify things... one can perhaps let the retail price be the determining factor: 1) ATI Bubble Master 250 - $999 2) Deltec AP 851 - $1399 3) Bubble King 250 - well over $2500 All are established brands, reputable manufacturers, superior products. But if you are really keen on 1 of the 3 models, I strongly suggest you do more research on them. Some of the features to compare: • Power consumption • Amount of air production per hour (important) • Internal / external • Footprint/dimensions • Warranty • Spare parts availability Do PM me if you need help on the ATI Bubble Master 250. Je®vis
  19. I will say... no effect at all But... dun put other corals close to it
  20. Like pollutions? Bro, try Marine Environment salt mix. I've recently filled up my new tank with ME salt + DI water. Magnesium = 1400 Calcium = 450 Not all salt provides the same balance of elements... trust me... I've tried other brands And buying bags of water from LFS is not entire "lifestyle" IMO Je®vis
