  1. Nope... they are not the same. But once fully open, both polyp-covered colonies will look almost identical. One major difference is... Star Polyps grow in the form of leather but Pipe Organ grows in the form of hard skeletal-tubes hence the name. I also find Pipe Organ's polyp tentacles longer and more hairy
  2. Yeah I read about that reefers experience too... but in my tank... PO4 been dropping to a minute 0.008 ppm using high-sensitivity test kit (Salifert can only detect up to 0.03 ppm if I'm not wrong). And I do not find any algae/diatom growing on my artificial rocks. So I am not convinced by the claim as my own experience has proven otherwise.
  3. Items sold and collected by a kind (and handsome) reefer :eyebrow:
  4. Found a molted Blue-legged Hermit yesterday... let's not waste it :eyebrow:
  5. Ohh Who's the maniac fooling around underneath my Red Prata's skirt... too late to interfere Can you see the claw and pincher on the sand bed? See the next posting for actual story
  6. My Pipe Organ is fully open today Looks like Esplanade actually
  7. Maybe can add more rocks to the front area... then can really add more corals... at least 25% more :eyebrow:
  8. Dun say so many things... just post the pix
  9. Actually... I have not change a single drop of water since the restarting of this tank... and I've been feeding quite heavily on fish and coral food My tank is still considered new... usually it will take a while longer before the NO3 will accumulate overtime... perhaps my protein skimmer is doing a heck of a job Here are just some possibilities: 1) Heavy skimming helps in eliminating organic wastes (most effective method in controlling nutrients). 2) Artificial rocks are very clean, not releasing unwanted nutrients such as Ammonia, NO3 and PO4 into the water. No die-offs from live rocks. 3) Rockscape design with very little rocks touching the sandbed, reducing dead zones. 4) Tunze Wavebox provides evenly distributed current throughout the entire tank, eliminating dead zone. 5) 1+ years old DSB in my sump tank, kept alive during the restarting process.
  10. Thanks bro for sharing... now it is making a bit more sense to me... and yeah the RBTA is still hanging there... actually it's kinda cool Wavebox is fun... but you might have to rescape the tank in order to fit it in your existing tank... and a black background will also help conceal it... I still wish it can be smaller
  11. Thanks bro... but do remember that I'm using a Tunze Wavebox... the current is actually created by resonance... not direct flow as created by most wavemakers... well the best way to judge is by observing your corals
  12. And of course the best way to enjoy an LPS/softies tank is via movie clip Enjoy
  13. Partial tank shot... colouring up Notice how weird the RBTA hangs on the ledge
  14. Pink... peach... or white? Will be able to find out very soon
  15. Also "tabao" this light purple Goniopora... the blue dot center is quite visible in real life Quite like the way I put the 3 pieces of Gonioporas together... not taking up too much space Can't wait to see the 3 colours merge together
  16. I got a feeling that's not Red Slime... try scrap it lightly... if it feels slimey and you see air bubbles on it then it's red slime algae... I wouldn't worry too much about it All the best
  17. Well you can still continue this thread... but update less frequently... tank thread is a good way of keeping track of things... like your tank diary
  18. Aquamarin Katong got shockingly beautiful SPS shipment... just arrived a couple of hours ago... spotted Yellow Tenuis
  19. Will be able to better appreciate the pink centers with the help of actinic
  20. Besides the durian-shaped Pipe Organ... I also "tabao" some Gonioporas Better dun go LFS during the Lunar New Year season... all turn out red This Red Goniopora is quite odd in shape... but the size is pretty large... I particularly like the glowing pink center
  21. Yeah the algae growing on your rock surface are quite unsightly... I believe your live rocks are the major cause of this problem and most probably the rocks are still slowly releasing phosphate (and other nutrients)... fertilizing the algae in the process. Don't worry you have sufficient equipments to win this war Do monitor your Angels... they might peck on your corals
  22. Yeah me too... but I got a feeling... one day... one fateful day... my eyes will focus on those colour sticks :heh:
  23. Don't worry bro... use them as a reminder to restart/rescape one year later :heh:
