Got a feeling it will exceed 2K for sure... unless you go everything "China". Your 4ft MH alone will cost you significantly and the chiller. Another way is to go to Pasar Malam section and snatch yourself some good deals. You can send your list to any of SGReef's sponsor and let them fax/email you a quotation. I'm sure they will be more than happy to assist you... eyes showing $$$ signs, lol.

Hi guys, I'm sure you've seen my setup. I have very thin sand bed. The sand bed is getting kinda messy-looking and algae is starting to appear. Can you guys recommend a nice fish that will fit nicely into my setup. If you guys can provide photos and links, that will be wonderful!!! Many in advance.

Yes I bouht it from AM yesterday. Can you share a pix of your tank showing the placement? I think the sea fan prefers strong current, but low light... very tricky placement. I did dose in Kent Marine complete regime for corals growth (check my signature) this morning. The polyps are almost all open too, quite pretty. But it looks white on my setup coz I do not have an atinic light. I will get some phytoplankton tomorrow or Monday.

Wow! Great info... you know what? We should start a thread like this to stop the LFS from charging according to their mood. Coz a lot of the items are not price-taged. This will make the LFS nervous and make them more competitive, lol. You start or I start? hahaha

Ah! So corals are more affordable (compared to cleaning shrimps, lol). Well, at least you guys can focus on coral-heavy tanks. But the tempt over Perth can be a lot more complex compared to Singapore... you might need both heater and chiller (a proper setup).

Change 40% water after 2 weeks of cycling
jervismun replied to totoro17's topic in New to the Marine Aquaria Hobby
I agree... trust me, you'll feel a lot better once you know your water parameter... without them, you will always gamble with the lifes of your LS. In the long run, I think the perished LS will cost more than the test kits. I bought a fish for $25.00 the other day and that's only the beginning... so please do not skimp on test kits. I did came across someone selling used kits. Check those closing down sale / giving up sale. They usually sell test kits too, some selling for a couple of bucks. Just make sure the expiry date is not near. Good luck and don't gamble -

This is a great thread... I know what to buy

New discovery!!! This inverted pyramid shape thingy came out of the Turtleweed. It landed on a LR and sorta sits nicely there. Do you think this thingy will turn into a new colony? Will it affect my corals? There are still a few of these pyramids attached to the tip of the Turtleweed, should I remove them all?

There are a couple of these pyramid shape thingy coming out of the Turtleweed. And one got stuck on a LR. It looks like a seed or something... there are still some attached to the tip of the Turtleweed, do you think I should remove them?

Let us all avoid Purple Queen Anthias unless we are ready for it. It's nice to share crucial messages like this, coz a lot of people will find it hard to resist the temptation of getting one (or a couple). Readers please be informed.

Ewwww! How does Turbo Snail slime looks like? As for me, I am having a bit of a algae outbreak on the side glass panel. Luckily, my Spiny Aestra Snails (2 in the pix) are working 24/7.

Sorry But I really like your shrooms... by any chance you are selling/trading/giving away some shrooms? I like the colour of it, unlike mine.

I will, thanks! Do I also need to get one of those feeding device? Or just dose direct into the tank? I think it needs to be refrigerated right?
-
Please don't lol. Nothing great about it, in fact I've done so many newbies mistakes... putting ReefPack into a Nano Cube for one But we will learn right? So how's things for you? I hope you are enjoying this hobby as much as I do
-
The micro bubbles are there to stay... I really dunno what I can do to eliminate the bubbles altogether... well, perhaps moving the ReefPack into my imaginary sump tank, lol. But actually, it's not too bad at times, the bubbles in photos are usually more exagerated as the camera captures at lower shutter speed (not using flash). So you see a lot of them and some in trail. I guess I have to live with it until my next upgrade (June or July 06)

Change 40% water after 2 weeks of cycling
jervismun replied to totoro17's topic in New to the Marine Aquaria Hobby
I am confused... cycling your tank with so many LS and inverts in there? Perhaps we misunderstood you, I think you are over with the beginning nitrification cycle. If that's the case, 40% (although drastic) water change is ok, IMO. -
Yes, those are coralline. I inherited them from its previous owner (I bought the LR from a fellow reefer). I am not using the Nano Skimmer but a larger model... I know, it's crazy! You can learn more about the ReefPack 500 at my link below (signature link). Enjoy. So far, I am happy with Tunze's product. Oh yes, they do grow on glass wall.

Safety feature n ideas.......
jervismun replied to Darryl85's topic in New to the Marine Aquaria Hobby
So I am right to say that the Tunze Retrofit overflow box can cause bad siphoning effect since it draws 50% from the bottom of the tank... luckily I am still at planning stage. -
Thanks will drop by tonight

Change 40% water after 2 weeks of cycling
jervismun replied to totoro17's topic in New to the Marine Aquaria Hobby
Personally, I don't think this is the best way to cycle your tank (with 2 cute clowns). Normally people will throw a dead market prawn in there for cycling. It's kinda cruel and definitely too much for the clowns to go through in there. -

From the readings, you will be able to tell at which stage your tank is in right now. Regarding 40% water change, I don't think it will affect much, it may just take slightly longer with the intro of new water. No LR yet right? Coz, LR can help speed things. -
Oh man... all these to catch an oversized Chromis? lol Oh dear... I have 3 Green Chromis in my nano tank. Well, if they ever grow out-of-hand, I will take the opportunity to upgrade to a larger tank, hehe.
