Fish for scavenging sand bed?

Will my 2" Sunburt prey on those tiny ###### shrimps? What will be a good number based on my tank setup (bearing in mind each costs $8.00 of course, lol). Do they group or wander loosely? Do they need hiding places or some kinda coral for protection? in advance -
Hey the Cyna is looking better already... keep it up. I'm sure it will recover very soon. Cheers

Ok so I will go look for the orange ones.
-
Is it true that the Sun Coral will only open up fully at night? Coz I am thinking of adding some bright orange into my tank. Already got a place for it.
-
Your tank is looking so nice I envy your atinic blue light... so soothing and calm. The Sea Fan also requires low to medium light, so dunno having it at the top is a good idea. I am facing the same problem too. With the MH, my entire tank is medium to high light intensity. What's in your betta box? Oh how long does your previous sea fan took to melt down? Does it create too much havoc?

I will wait for a few more replies. If okay, I will start a few threads soon. I will name a product, let reefers input on selling price from LFS islandwide. LS a bit hard sometimes, but products are pretty easy to compare "apple-to-apple". So in the near future, I hope the LFS will think twice before simply quoting some price, especially to newbies. So, the most competitively priced LFS will get more publicity. Anyone against this move?
-
Have not been to PetMart, perhaps I should drop by next week. I don't see why we shouldn't mention names... if we don't act on our own rights as consumer, who will? You expect all LFS to price conciously? It's business and competition is good for consumers. Let's see if someone thinks otherwise. Sorry

Fish for scavenging sand bed?

Thanks! Wow a long list to choose from -
As you guys might have known... I am planning for my next tank already. Yes, it will definitely be larger than my current 24g NC, but I am also playing with the idea of not having a conventional 3ft / 4ft tank. I will design the whole system from top to bottom... and I hope you guys can chip in to make this everybody's dream tank. Appreciate suggestions from you guys... once I have accumulate enough info, I will start designing it. Do expect to see conceptual drawings, 3D renderings, materials and equipments specs along the way... I will get my bonus (profit-sharing) this May/June. So we still have around 2 months to design it. Come on guys, let your creative juice flows...

Fish for scavenging sand bed?

What other fishes or inverts can do the job well? I also need a hungry guy to remove fish food that drop to the bottom. My Chromis will not eat from the sand bed, it's not natural to them, I read. -
Tested and proven!!! These guys love water current!!! The polyps on the left (esp the lower bunch) are happily opened coz water is flowing there. The right portion (notice the diff grey background?) doesn't open at all! Hehe, it's amazing how much we can learn in one day
-
Yupe, that is another newbie mistake I made... I am planning a quarantine tank (using my old 5g FW tank) now. It will be up and running in 2 days time. Will try to spread some bacteria over too.
-
Hehe that's part of the plan. I think my Alveopora Coral will also benefit from it greatly... still monitoring the effectiveness of the product. So guys, bear with me yeah?
-
Latest update of my tank... basically split the Sea Fan and move a small frag to the lower right corner (nearer to the wave maker).
-
Don't think so yet, unless it is eating behind my back... I still find the algae bearable... it's the side panels anyway, will let the snails feed on them for the time being. Will do something more drastic if it really gets out of hand.

Fish for scavenging sand bed?

I'm only using 1 piece of RowaPhos sponge. Is that sufficient? My Phosphate reading is 0. I guess it's normal coz my MH is really intense. The algae is just beginning, not very spread out yet. I heard blenny can do the job alright... anyone? -
The Fathead Sunburst Anthia is still very shy, don't think it is eating yet. Will give it another 2 to 3 days before I start to worry. The other 3 Chromis are already eating occasionally
-
Cleaning crew in action!!! This is the result of 2 days of full light duration (12 hours) - 12.30pm to 12.30am. I need to get more snails or maybe a nice star fish that will consume algaes on glass... now can anyone help me identify a star fish that does that?
-
After much considerations, I've split the 2 main branches of the Blue Sea Fan and place the smaller frag to the lower right corner (nearer to the wave maker). Hopefully this location will offer the fan better survival. Can't help with the lighting though as I can't find a spot with low light. Will feed it once I get hold of phytoplanktons.
-
I've split the 2 main branches and place the small frag to the bottom right corner. The wavemaker is on the top right (behind) corner, so let's see if the one with strong current do better than the other one. Will feed them (and other corals) phytoplanktons as soon as I get hold of one. Best of luck to all of us Blue Sea Fan lovers

Oh yeah I missed the Tunze Stream with Multicontroller. You need at least 2 streams for your tank size. So that system alone costs you more than 1.2k! lol
