I can't wait to install one too... if there's a leak or something, at least I will be the first to find out! And imagine showing it off to my colleagues at work, hehe.

Yeah the King Angel is lovely... u need to find him a Queen soon... perhaps a Purple Queen, lol.

Hehe I think I overdosed a bit last night... luckily I turned on my protein skimmer 1 hour later and removed them quickly off the tank. The skimmate are kinda greenish, so I assume the extras were removed. Silly me

But I do not want to on my computer all the time... wait, maybe I can use my old laptop to do the job. Anyone with real-life experience to share? It will be really fun to watch my fishies at work

What will be your dream reef tank like?
jervismun replied to jervismun's topic in New to the Marine Aquaria Hobby
Oh I kinda like the one at Mount E... but the problem is distortion. I don think it's very natural to see your fish in distorted view... or appears larger at some parts, lol. And cleaning can be a problem too. Even my NC with a slight bow front is giving me a problem removing algaes off the rounded edges. -
What will be your dream reef tank like?
jervismun replied to jervismun's topic in New to the Marine Aquaria Hobby
Thinking of a short (shallow) tank instead of a tall tank. I am thinking of creating a shallow water reef with strong sunlight and strong waves. Creating a small portion that mimics the ocean instead of dumping in corals and fishes that caught my eyes... so lots of research to be done, hopefully I can keep all species found from a single location. I think this will bring the hobby to the next level... Oh another reason for a shallow tank is I might need to have quite a high cabinet to fit all my equipments, sump, refugium and chiller. For easy access also lah! Don't want to always climb on some stools and get my armpit wet, lol. What say you? -
Good luck Cheng... I think you need to allocate at least 6K to be on the safe side and that's a lot of money... wanna consider a smaller tank? It will save tremendously in a lot of areas.

Thanks for the encouragement! I will keep an extra eye on it... hey, any of you guys actually install a remote camera to monitor your tank while you're at work? Thinking of doing something like that... lol. I know M1 is introducing that service for $15/month. Yeah the Alveropora is very beautiful. Thinking of getting 1 more small frag from Reborn this week. It's fun sometimes to buy small frags as you can easily move them around, fit them into holes and crevices

wow what a journey... like the new scape very much. However, I do agree with bro that some of your corals might be a little too close. You can do research for corals that can be nice neighbours. Or else, one of them will have to go. I read sponges are hard to keep, so could it be your red sponge is not doing well? Hence the white coating. It's so frustrating to own a small tank right? Now you can't add anymore fishies... I am nearing my limit soon too.

Do keep us posted with your DIY sound proofing. I might sound-proof mine too.

The Zoos are really spreading fast (esp on the left towards another rock). I'm sure it will be much larger a week from now

Nice pico bro... I hope I can do that kinda DIY

Nice bro... so proud of you. Who's the father? Is the father in your tank or someone elses? lol

Fish for scavenging sand bed?
jervismun replied to jervismun's topic in New to the Marine Aquaria Hobby
Gon Gon? Got pix to share? Yeah my sand bed is getting more and more untidy. -
Might not be very useful... but I bought a new Teco RA240 for my tank in the study room. I can't seem to get used to the noise after running it for around 2 weeks now. So, can't imagine this in my bedroom. Surely gonna wake me up in the middle of the night. What FW fishes r u keeping? Why the low 23ÂșC? Coz the chiller will have to work extra hard to maintain such low temperature. I assume your bedroom is air-conditioned. Got a feeling it will kick in every 1 to 2 hours. IMO, cannot sleep lah!

The mushroom that puked last night (the one to the bottom right)... still not looking as healthy as the rest of the shrooms but I'm sure it will do ok.

Thanks to a bro's recommendation, I bought Aquaz Phytoplankton to feed my corals. I switched off all my filters and pumps (except the wavemaker) and poured in the dark green mixture into the tank... The corals are looking much healthier now especially the Blue Sea Fan

Got a feeling the anemone is not feeling very happy... it can be a lot of reasons and lighting is one of them as they need pretty intense lighting. Good luck

RB selling @ $24.00 (with 10% discount - yellow price tag) -
Together with a few bros, we have decided to offer all newbies that frequent SG Reef Club a chance to compare RP (Retail Price) for equipments, additives, test kits and miscellaneous items. There are 2 main objectives to be achieved: 1) To be aware of any local LFS with unreasonable RP 2) To inform our readers the availability of such product in LFS and their RP. Kindly exercise your rights as a consumer by contributing to this thread. I will try to feature more products within a wider range to enable us to get a better understanding of a particular LFS pricing strategy. Notes: 1) Try not to mention full LFS name (although I personally have nothing against it) 2) Try to stay "on-topic" so that we can compare "apple-to-apple". 3) You may include extra information (for example: you were given a 10% discount) 4) You may choose to discuss/review on the product too.
