  1. Wow that's a cool looking piece of equipment...
  2. I saw something similar at AM. Dunno if the same as your pix, but pretty similar and quite economical too
  3. How old is your tank? Say if the water conditions (and lighting) is right... you can try adding a bit of Calcium (very crucial). Do get a Calcium tester before dosing. If your calcium is constantly above 400 mark, should be fine. Some use Kalwasser, I use Liquid Calcium from Kent Marine and diluted Calcium Hydroxide (powder) that comes with Tunze Calcium Dispenser. Hope this helps!
  4. Oh dear this Blue Sea Fan is very labour intensive... need to add this chore to my maid's list of services, lol. Just kidding only lah, apparently I'm the only maid at home
  5. Depending of bulb (I think). Some glass tubes (of the bulb) provide a certain filtering of harmful UV. Some corals require beneficial UV to thrive, so blocking completely may be a problem too. I'm currently running a 150W MH without protective glass beneath it. So, UV is certainly a problem I need to look into too.
  6. Hi bro Elimmel How's things going? How's your SPS doing? Do update us
  7. Hehe no atinic... u r so knowledgeable bro... esp with genus lah, species lah... I always find it very hard to remember scientific names...
  8. Ok I will go get a piece of nice torch next week. I hope the whiteness is not due to "bleaching" lol. Seriously, the fluorescent green somehow disappeared... oh dear
  9. I agree... IMO if you have sufficient LR, a good mechanical filter (changed regularly) and protein skimmer... shouldn't have NO3 more than 5ppm unless you have major die-offs, overstocked or overfeed.
  10. 1 & 2: Bought Kent Marine beginners pack for trial... very complete and simple to use. So far, my LS seems happy. Quite affordable too, check out reefdepot.com.sg 2: Also using Tunze Calcium Dispenser to dose Limewater to the tank via auto-top up freshwater. 3: Not using liquid form. Mainly powder form and paste (check my signature)
  11. Just wondering... does it work properly? I bought the Aqua Medic one and the eggs didn't hatch. If yours work, I am interested
  12. Bro you are right, they seem to be immune to each other's stings! Cool
  13. My Nano Cube + 150W MH rose to 32ºC at one point (while cycling). So I quickly (not much choice really) bought a Teco RA240. Now temperature maintained at 26.5ºC - 28ºC. My LS seems happy... can't imagine them boiling in 32ºC water... surely die one. If you are keeping fish only, then it's ok (I think). The fish tank at Reborn (2nd level) is always 33ºC. They keep some large fishes like angels there. IMO high temperature not only affect your LS but a lot of other related conditions. Oxygen level for one is affected by temperature. I think a lot of other parameters are also temperature dependent. So, if you fishes died, not necessarily coz they are hot, but degraded water conditions in general... my 2 cents.
  14. What u guys think? Better looking than before right? Of course... nothing compares to bro Fuel's sea fan
  15. Hi Terryz since we're from the same specimen... does your sea fan open larger than mine? If yes, perhaps I still need to improve my conditions. This is the first time I direct feed them. I think it's so much better than dosing the tank from the top.
  16. This is how I feed my Blue Sea Fan... a mixture of Marinium Zooplankton + Argent Cyclop-eeze! I can see that the polyps are feeding as they open and close for many times.

  18. Hehe my Blue Sea Fan is looking so healthy!!! I think I must have fed them correctly... they love it!

  20. Was at Kino just now... this book is so inspirational, the author (a Chinese living in California) owns a 700g reef tank (with 300g sump) specializing in keeping SPS and Clams!!! His setup is also very simple and straight-forward... makes it sound so natural and simple Go take a look, I hope it's still unwrapped... lol.
  21. Another view of my tank, showing off its bowfront. Actually, I prefer a simple rectangular shape tank. The curves do distort the view a little (bad for photography) and it's very hard to scrap off the algae on corners.
  22. Oh my bad... haha see I have so much more to learn
  23. Welcome to my tank! Now you are my 2 Spots Goby... looking up to the sun... and you say to yourself... em, the sun is so bright and the sky is so blue today
  24. This is a real nice specimen I bought from Pasir Ris Farmway... paid $4 for it, lol. It's so... wholesome!!!
