  1. Em... Ammonia is still <0.25... I think the 2 pieces of LR I bought today has been cured inside the LFS tank. I will have my back up plan in action tomorrow... market prawn!!!
  2. Bro Collin, I've been doing that for the past week or so... liquidifying all my assets for the hobby, lol... bro Qxn... where r u? Come back!!!!!
  3. Can I move them into my refugium once I finish the ANN cycle? I think Caulerpa is quite save right?
  4. Wow a very large and matured tank!!! Mind sharing with us some basic specs of ur setup? Love the Anthias...
  5. Added a split outlet with duckbeaks to the main pump... running only at 1300l/h, just enough ensure a steady flow of water into the IOS. The main tank will rely on my Tunzes for primary water circulation.
  6. Bought 2 pieces of LR from RB just now... lots of hitchhiker macro algaes... hopefully this will kick start the ANN cycle... no sign of worms yet... and no smell... could it be the rocks are already cured in RB's tank?
  7. Oh I will be getting the Aquamoonlight soon... can u show us the effect in your tank? I really want to see how bright are the 3 blue LEDs. I'm sure other bros are interested too.
  8. True also... but one thing for sure is carbon is a lot cheaper than phosphat removal media... so once the phosphat removal media ran out, just change the whole tube lor... carbon is relatively cheap anyway. But the best is to have 2 FR running with a powerful pump... but I really can't stand the vibration emitted by larger pumps and also the heat generated.
  9. Em... actually u have a point there, lol... will move the Chaetos back into my nano later. bro... too many things to cater to at one go... overlooked that. See... that's why I always post every single detail... so that I can get helpful feedbacks from you guys
  10. Yes! 15 minutes more... will drop by RB/PR after work... need to buy 2 pieces of uncured LR and a pack of carbon in case the smell is too unbearable... update u guys tonight
  11. I bought an Aqua Medic Phosphatfilter recently... and since my tank is not too huge, the LFS suggested me put 25% Carbon, 50% Phosphat filter, 25% Carbon to the tube. Since the FR is not too expensive, thinking of getting another one, so can have dedicated FR for Carbon and Phosphatfilter... However, must bear in mind FR usually creates a lot of resistance to ur water current. So if I am to have 2 FR in a row, I need to get a really powerful pump in order for both FR to work properly. Also, FR requires cleaning or they can get clogged quite easily... that's what I was told. So for now, since my tank is still new, I will just run a single FR. Just wanna share with you... hope u find it useful. Her bro speakerphone, u ask a lot of questions lah... wanna start a new thread in Member Tank and Spec section so that we can see ur progress (and lots of pix pls)
  12. That is according to a bro... he suggested me to go for Anthias instead... so I will not buy anymore Chromis.
  13. Nice concept... always wanted to do that... let the macroalgae outgrow the tank and it will look really close to nature. Add some shrimps also lah. But if it's only macroalgae + 2 tiny fish... (maybe some cleaning crew)... ur light maybe a little too weak, what's ur total watt? Remember macroalgae depends 100% on photosynthesis... Bio-ring and Bio Ball maybe a bit redundant since most of the nutrients will be absorbed by the macroalgae (lighting must be bright lah)... u dun want the bioballs fighting with ur macroalgae for the same resources. Ammonia filter not too sure also, if u cycle the tank properly, with healthy live rocks, I think ammonia will not be a problem at all... skimmer is important, make sure u DIY a very good one. No need CO2... Must also look at plenty of water movement... also makes ur tank look nicer. If you can have 2 alternating pump on each side of the tank... more real! Remember to add in some live rocks. Some live rocks come with a lot of macroalgae attached to it... so get those lor. Good luck and remember to post a thread in the members section to share with us ur your great setup.
  14. Although I just sold my Tunze Multicontroller w/ Turbelle 7200/2 due to upgrading... I will still go for the Tunze. If budget is the main deciding factor... I guess u don't even have to ask this question as no matter what, u will go for the Seio. However, if you have the budget... then here's what I think: • The Tunze Multicontroller is a heck-of-a piece of high-tech equipment. For merely $300+ you get a multicontroller that is so flexible and conplex... u will probably need a few weeks to fully understand how the whole thing works. • Blah blah blah... If I am to go on, it will take me 30min of my working time to finish this post. • In short, it's like comparing a Mercedes Benz with a japanese car (no mention of brand... coz can get very sensitive, lol). So go to the Tunze website, you will never, ever regret getting it. You can have my word... But if you have to sacrifice lunches and dinners for it, then think twice.
  15. Just switched on the AM skimmer last night for setting/testing the water level... yeah will not run the skimmer or else no matter how many market prawns I throw in... it will end up stinking in the collection cup. Also, skimming will also extract the bacterias I dosed in...
  16. I added 2 Green Chromis to my nano couple of weeks ago... they are extremely hardy and active. Colour wise... yeah a bit plain compared to Percula, but if you have shoal of them, they can be quite spectacular. But according to some bros, Chromis will not group anymore when they grow bigger, they tend to grow very fast and eat like "pigs". So that's the downside of Chromis I guess. For my new tank... I will not get more Chromis but try Anthias instead... hope this helps! But price wise... Chromis only costs $1 each
  17. Moonlight will enable ur fishes to orientate itself better at night and can also encourage spawning activities for some noctural corals... if u ask me... add in lah! Unless u have other restrictions. I've been using a light sensor controlled single LED for my nano and the effect is nice at night
  18. Thanks bro Hammy, yeah with both Aqua Medic and Tunze skimmers running, I think extra nutrients shouldn't pose too much of a threat (with proper hunsbandry of course). Combined, the 2 skimmers can comfortably handle 300 gallons, that is more than 3 times my current setup. Over skimming can be a concern too... so most probably will have periodic skimming for one of the skimmers instead (especially at the initial stages).
  19. The mini Plate is so cute!!!
  20. You wanna donate ur poor clam to me? hehe I promise I take good care of it...
  21. Nice... what r u using it for actually? Activate ur chiller? Does it cut-off the MH if the temperature raises to a set maximum? Coz I saw a gadget that does that... thinking of getting one later to avoid frying my corals.
  22. Probably... the problem is... Marlin jumped out of the tank 3 days ago... em... I think I need to bring her to talk to a professional
  23. Yeah Wrang... under the se(a) lol! The last time I asked was about $3 to $4/kg. We are not talking about high quality ones of course. Yeah extremely expensive over your side... one thing I don't quite understand really... I downloaded Tunze's catalogue (with Euro pricing) and the listed selling price in Singapore is around 30% cheaper after the currency conversion. You can check out www.reefdepot.com.sg Probably the standard of living in most parts of Europe is so much higher... yeah don't remind how much I paid for a bottle of coke in London I can buy half a dozen here!!!
