  2. Em... let me see I have a pix of it... it's a very ugly lookin star, but very useful to stir up the sand surface.
  3. Hey bro... you are still not tackling the issue here... I can see a lot of distractions... oh yes, activated carbon needs to be replaced regularly although some claim to last forever... I guess you are planning major water change to bring down NO3 right? Do update us on your parameters...
  4. Emm... this is way to complicated for me... do let me know the result of a DI unit, I might wanna get one in the near future, must get them install for me...

  7. No lah!!! Our water where got so high Nitrate lvl!!! You need to check what that reading is... I got a feeling it has something to do with water pressure
  8. Confirm 1 Level Spoon as I bought another set of test kit (Tropic Marin) and the result is almost identical.
  9. The DI unit u bought from RD comes with a instruction leaflet right? I gave up mine... almost mess up the kitchen, the washing area and the toilet... definitely not easy, but I'm sure the result will be very rewarding I hope you are relying on this piece of equipment to bring down the NO3 in your tank
  10. Ya lor... the "longkang" AM still got many pieces of medium/big Maximas... some of them very pretty
  11. Bro Soon, I think this thread will end quite soon right? Kinda sad... when will u be starting a new thread? How's all the DIY work coming along?
  12. Hey man!!! You are really something And yes, that's a very nice investment there... at least you don't introduce things into the tank to deal with later... Are you good at DIY? Coz fixing it up will take some skills and patience All the best to you bro!
  13. Really??? Wah Ad_aware... you run a 6ft tank?!? Must go to your place soon
  14. I am currently using Aqua Medic Hydrocarbon (same as argonite I think) partially for my sand bed. It is extremely expensive if you have a sizeable tank. The same Hydrocarbon can be used to fill up Calcium Reactor. Yes, Hydrocarbon will dissolve very slowly (depending on CO2 content in the tank) and will contribute calcium to the tank. But because they dissolve so slowly and uncontrollable, it is not advisable to use this method as the only source of calcium. Hydrocarbon will also act as a good buffer to the water. According to Cheng Hock, algae are less likely grow on carbon... but I notice algae on my sand bed... yeah, you can talk to them. But I think, their fine grade is out of stock, the medium one (which I bought) is not very pretty as sand bed. Caution! It is really really expensive to fill up your sand bed with this product!!!
  15. I think he got Nitrite problem since his tank is very new... does your tank contains any fish and corals? If not, let it cycle. With introduction of live rocks and Nitrifying Bacteria, you will find ur Nitrite be converted to Nitrate soon... give the system another 2 to 3 days. Then start worrying about getting rid of Nitrate, lol. Another thing, does your tank smells bad when you introduce rocks? If yes, then yours are uncured live rocks, which will take longer to cycle. So high Nitrite is expected at this stage. What test kit r u using btw? Is it a new set or old set? All the best to you
  16. I know ur drawings may not reflect the actual thing... but you may try having the RED outlet on the left so that you can have both left and right outlet, better flow since your overflow box is at the center back.
  17. Bloom again??? Em... is your PO4 under control? Keep on adding Gobies also not the solution What about adding 2 Sand Sifting Star? Mine work perfectly so far
  18. Wah Ad_aware... you always "coral sit" for other ppl... em... you got a very large tank ah?
  19. It's hard to believe the Hammer tentacle can stretch so long... now I really gotto be careful when placing other corals near it... besides Torch and Frogspawn, what other corals can I safely place near them?
  20. Anyone can help me ID this mushroom? It fluorence under Actinic Blue... intense red/pink
  21. Multicolored bubbles? I only got a piece of Green Bubble Coral... you referring to the Tri-colour Yuma? It's my pride and joy Hehe... how to differentiate them? I can't really tell also... still learning. So whenever I buy, I will ask the LFS lor... I know, not very pro I will do more readings... the problem is... they do look very similar and new unidentified species keep on emerging... I am confused
